CAPRICORN NEW MOON - January 1 2014

Exact at 11.15am GMT, 6.15am EST!

This is a powerful moon indeed! It is not often that astrological events line up so perfectly with the Gregorian calendar, but this New Moon just happens to land on New Year’s Day this year! New Moons are the time in the month when we and plant seeds and set intentions so even if you don’t usually make New Year’s resolutions, on this particular occasion it might actually be a good idea. It is important however to stick to two or three realistic intentions that you are willing and able to work towards rather than impossible resolutions that merely make you feel guilty and bad about yourself when you break them later in the month!  Not only that but they should come from a place of truth, aligned with our highest good rather than petty, materialistic, ego driven intentions. This New Moon is a Supermoon, which makes it especially powerful and potent as the Moon is closest to the Earth and in perfect alignment with the Sun and Earth. Supermoons have more of an impact on our minds, bodies and spirits than your average moon. Not only that, but Pluto, the planet of Soul, Power and Transformation is sitting right on top of this New Moon! Pluto is also part of a Cardinal Grand Cross which is currently bring things to a head and making us very aware of where we need to change and grow. This New Moon packs a powerful punch, that’s for sure! What a way to start 2014! We are being asked to be very bold and brave and to ride the waves of change without fear!

The Sun and Moon are forming their monthly union in the realistic, hard-working and disciplined sign of Capricorn whose ultimate aim is self-mastery. Capricorn is the sign of the Goat who makes his way slowly yet surely to the top of the mountain through sheer hard work and determination. He is not afraid of responsibility and is amazingly disciplined, never losing sight of his aims. The top of the mountain is whatever goals we might set ourselves but is also the highest part of ourselves; that which rises above the ego and  petty concerns and represents the truth of all we are. Capricorn asks that we live with integrity and authenticity and this New Moon challenges us to think about what we need to overcome, or master, in order to reach the top of our proverbial mountain and become the best human being that we can possibly be. It may not be easy, but Capricorn asks for us to commit to our path and endeavour to do our very best to overcome any tests and challenges that are placed in front of us.

Pluto is a massive part of the New Moon as he is forming a pack with the Sun, Moon and Mercury in Capricorn. This brings the potential for deep and far reaching changes as Pluto challenges us to step up and take on our power. Pluto is the planet of Power, Transformation and the Soul; the Great Destroyer who breaks down any structures that are holding us back from being all that we can be in order to build something more appropriate in its place. Pluto in Capricorn will help us see the bare bones of the matter during this Moon - the underlying truth of the situation, as uncomfortable as that may be. He asks us to be completely and utterly honest about what has to change in order for us to move forward and if we don’t make the necessary changes ourselves then he will step in and do it for us. I have a feeling that we will be left in no doubt as to what intentions we need to set for this New Moon as Pluto forces us to be completely honest and confront whatever isn’t working in our lives.

Pluto’s energy can either help us make creative changes in our lives or can be quite destructive and cause a massive amount of upheaval. It depends on how we approach it and the attitude we take. The darker side of Pluto involves power games, manipulation, jealousy and hidden agendas. This can create unnecessary angst and drama. A Plutocracy involves gaining power by taking it away from others, whereas the higher octave of Pluto in Capricorn wants us to align ourselves with the universal force, finding our true power and following the path we were meant for. Then we empower ourselves and everyone we come into contact with instead of draining them or making them small. Pluto in Capricorn is stripping away our cultural conditioning; whatever we thought we were supposed to be, leaving us with the bare truth of ourselves for us to build on. Who we really are and what we are actually capable of may come as a big surprise to us and it is important that we trust that we will somehow be shown the way. This New Moon is a perfect time to align our will (Sun) with our soul (Pluto).

Pluto is also part of a powerful Cardinal Grand Cross involving Uranus, Mars and Jupiter, which is providing powerful impetus for change and growth, though it may well require a fair amount of courage and fortitude! This Grand Cross will finally come to a head on the 23rd of April 2014 and this New Moon is preparing us somehow for whatever is going to happen then. It involves four squares and two oppositions which all combine together to create one giant push for us to move forward to the next level. This Grand Cross is basically the 5th Pluto Uranus square, which we are now quite familiar with, with some added ammunition in the form of Mars, the assertive warrior and Jupiter, the planet of growth and expansion. Between the two of them they add some extra motivation and opportunity for growth. This Grand Cross has been building over the holiday period and could make certain situations or relationships become intolerable and show us in no uncertain terms what needs to change. I remember reading somewhere that it is only when things become intolerable that people make changes, such is human nature. The Grand Cross will not only help is to see what needs to change but will also give us the drive, courage and impetus for us to actually do something about it. It may involve leaving certain people behind if they are holding us back and not willing to move forward themselves. They might simply be part of our old story; too fearful, rigid and stuck to ride the current waves of change.

Chiron, the Wounded Healer, is also a very big part of this New Moon as he forms a harmonious connection with the Sun, Moon, Mercury and Pluto. This offers us the opportunity to heal through the process of change. Chiron is shining a light of compassion, healing and forgiveness during this Moon while also helping us discover hidden talents and discover our true purpose. It is an ideal time to do some healing work. Pluto in aspect to Chiron offers us the opportunity to dig really deep and heal whatever we find there while also offering the promise that while change and upheaval may be uncomfortable and even painful as we let go of people and situations that are preventing growth, it will ultimately allow us to move closer towards our truth. It may also bring up some superpowers that we never even knew we had!  Chiron in aspect to Jupiter gives us the gift of faith and an awareness of being guided as well as helping us to bring our hidden gifts and abilities to light. We are all here for a reason and have a unique role to play and now is the time to trust that we are somehow being guided in the right direction. Overall, Chiron’s presence in this New Moon charts is extremely comforting, though he is forming one niggling aspect to Mars in Libra which could bring some wounding and hurtful actions or behaviour within the realm of our intimate relationships. This aspect was building over Christmas and was it its strongest on Friday 27 December, however, so its energy is now waning.

This truly is a powerful New Moon and one that has the potential to set us on the path towards fulfilling our greatest potential. What that is exactly might come as a great surprise to us so we must make sure that we are open to whatever comes up in the coming months. The prominent presence of powerful Pluto brings the possibility of us undergoing a major detoxification in whatever part of our chart this Moon falls in as he clears out any stuck energy in that particular area of our life. Pluto isn’t known for being gentle, as he really gets to the heart of the matter, so it is important to remain as self-aware as possible and, above all, to be flexible and open to anything that comes up. Letting go can be painful while change can bring up fear and make us feel like the rug is being ripped out from under us, but it is important to remember that the biggest tests and challenges are in fact gifts which bring the greatest spiritual growth and help us move forward!

We need to set some clear intentions for this New Moon that resonate with us fully and that we can then realistically work towards. That involves being really honest with ourselves about what we want and what we are capable of. I also feel that we should resolve to simply ask for guidance then let go, allowing ourselves to go with the flow and trusting that we are being guided in the right direction. As I said, where that is may surprise us! Capricorn is the sign of self-mastery and commitment and I sense very strongly that we are currently being asked to step up to the plate and to actually start doing what we were put here to do. Preparation time is over – it’s time to move out into the world with all that we have learned over the past couple of years! Whatever intentions we set now could easily become very concrete, so choose wisely! Make sure that they truly resonate with your soul as it is important that they really ring true and mean something to you. In order to get to the top of the mountain we must be willing to let go of an awful lot of baggage, because we certainly wouldn’t want to drag it all up there with us!

Happy New Year!

Much love

Amy

GEMINI FULL MOON - Tuesday 17 December 2013

Exact at 9.28am GMT, 4.28am EST!

This Full Moon is relatively straightforward in nature as it is for the most part untethered by other planets. The most notable thing about the Full Moon itself is that the Sagittarius Sun is sitting at the centre of the Milky Way, which represents the Root chakra of the Cosmos, while the Moon is surrounded by Pleiedes, a cluster of stars of a higher vibration which is seen as the Crown chakra of our galaxy. This brings the potential for realigning ourselves on an energetic level, thus evolving to a higher frequency and moving collectively towards a more enlightened way of being. Full Moons represent a climax of emotions, when whatever has been building over the previous couple of weeks comes to a head. There are some other quite powerful energies at work during and after this Full Moon. Hours after the moon reaches its peak Uranus, the Great Awakener, will be waking up after after having been retrograde for 5 months. The day after the Winter Solstice Venus will turn retrograde in Capricorn. We also have the beginning of a Cardinal Grand Cross involving Mars, the warrior/motivator, Uranus, the rebel/awakener, Pluto, the powerful lord of transformation and Jupiter, the harbinger of growth and expansion. This is a very powerful collection of energies and will create an enormous amount of pressure for us to make some significant changes on both an inner and outer level in the coming months. For now, however, the energy of the square is at the very beginning, while whatever we started during the New Moon is culminating.

The Moon is full in curious, logical, and versatile Gemini, the sign of the intellect, thought processes, perception and communication. She is sitting directly opposite the Sun in jovial, enthusiastic and optimistic Sagittarius, the sign of faith, beliefs and intuition. The key to the Full Moon is to find a balance between the energy of the two signs involved. Gemini represents the rational, logical, “lower” mind while Sagittarius is the higher, more intuitive mind. Sagittarius seeks to find meaning in life and represents our beliefs and what we choose to have faith in. Gemini shows how we make sense of the world, putting it in a more concrete form and helping us communicate it more effectively. This Moon in Gemini will probably bring communication to the fore and we may have many thoughts and ideas racing around our minds. We may well get quite fired up about our beliefs and probably won't hold back from voicing them! Mercury, the ruler of the Full Moon, is sitting next to the Sagittarius Sun who is well known for speaking his mind and does tend to suffer from Foot in Mouth Syndrome! On a higher level, this Moon gives us a chance to find a balance between our higher and lower mind, between rational logic and faith and intuition.

Uranus, the Great Awakener, will be turning direct just a few hours after the Moon is Full, having been retrograde since the 18th of July. Planets energy are at their strongest around the time they turn direct because they are closest to the earth at that time. Don't be surprised if you have some flashes of inspiration, sudden intuitions, erratic thoughts, strokes of genius or the urge to break free from any shackles that bind you during this Moon! Uranus is the rebel and revolutionary who wants to liberate us from limitation and to shake us out of any stagnant ruts and has a tendency to force change in no uncertain terms, rattling our cages and clearing the cobwebs of our lives away. He wants us to grow and will do whatever he can to make sure that happens. In Aries he is very wilful and forceful and wants us to be free to be exactly who we are with nothing holding us back. He is not afraid to stand up and fight for what we deserve and we will see that on both a personal and collective level in the coming weeks. While he was retrograde his energy was more internal, but now it is turning direct it is full steam ahead again. During this Full Moon it is quite likely that we will experience so “Aha!” moments, as light bulbs go off in our minds and we experience true epiphanies. Uranus seeks to Awaken us and has just woken up himself, so watch out!

Meanwhile, Mars is beginning to form a tense T-square with both Pluto and Uranus which will build in intensity over the coming week or so. This marks the beginning of a Grand square which will come to a head with the 5th Pluto Uranus square on April 23 2014. This square will force change on us in no uncertain terms and could cause upheaval in any area of our lives where we are stuck or not moving forward. What joy! We are being asked to step up to the plate and be true to ourselves and the process is not necessarily going to be comfortable! Mars is currently working towards an opposition with Uranus which will be exact on Christmas Day, and when you put the two of these planets together you have the potential for sudden acts of aggression, tempers flaring, acts of rebellion and energy erupting, seemingly coming from nowhere. On another level this kind of aspect can cause kundalini energy to rise quickly and suddenly and with considerable force. Mars will then go on to form a challenging square to Pluto which will be exact on New Years Eve and it will be interesting to see what happens when you put Mars, the warrior planet, up against Pluto, the planet of the soul and transformation! This is a potent mixture indeed and could really shake things up over the holiday season, bringing any hidden tensions to the surface for us to confront head on. It is possible that we could be in for some shocks and upheaval within our lives in the coming months, but only in so far as we are stuck or not moving forward with integrity.

Venus is turning retrograde in Capricorn on the 22nd December, the day after the Winter Solstice. She will remain in her backwards motion until February 1st. Venus is the planet of love, attraction, relationships, money and values and when she goes into retrograde motion it is time to re-evaluate this area of our lives. The backwards motion of Venus will cause us to reassess our relationships and make sure that they are working for us, while also could bring people up from our past, whether they be past lovers, fateful encounters with people or rekindling karmic ties from past lives. Capricorn is a serious and karmic sign so it is quite likely that we will encounter people we have somehow known before. Venus in Capricorn brings the possibility of us having to restructure and redefine our relationships in order to make sure they have integrity. Capricorn is the sign of commitment, responsibility and realism and help us look at our relationship in quite a sober and realistic light. Over the course of the retrograde cycle we will be given the chance to decide whether our relationships are a true reflection of who we are becoming and whether we are growing together or apart. It is a time to face fears and let go of any relationships which are impeding our growth on a soul level. As Saturn, the ruler of Capricorn, is in Scorpio the ultimate goal is to achieve a greater sense of intimacy and trust within our relationships.

As Uranus is such a big part of the Full Moon it is quite likely that we will feel quite agitated and excited, experiencing a kind of electrical energy in the air. Uranus is bit like a lightening rod, so it is quite likely that we will feel a bit unsettled but will also have some amazing epiphanies along the way! This, in addition to the Full Moon's focus on the higher and lower minds could mean that we reach some amazing understandings in the coming days and have the potential to reach a higher vibration of being. This combination could be quite enlightening in fact! This is an amazing time for yoga, energy work and mediation and could produce some powerful results. Our intuition may well be much higher and the thoughts and insights could simply flood through! Most importantly we must remember that this is a Full Moon which does tend to bring things to a head and with Gemini and Sagittarius involved we are quite likely to give voice to our emotions! The Mars energy will involve a certain amount of discomfort and a sense of pressure building, but I can only assume that anything that erupts over the coming weeks will do so for a very good reason and will only help us grow. We could feel a bit unsettled and possibly agitated in the coming days, so stay grounded!

Much love

Amy

SAGITTARIUS NEW MOON - 2 / 3 December 2013

Exact at 12.22am GMT Tues 3rd Dec, 7.22pm EST Mon 2nd Dec

This New Moon is like a breath of fresh air after the intensity of the past couple of months! The Libra New Moon on October 4th certainly kicked off a time of change, turbulence and inner transformation for many. Since that time we have had two eclipses in Scorpio, Mercury retrograde in Scorpio and the fourth Pluto Uranus square to contend with. We now get to enjoy some uplifting, optimistic and jovial Sagittarius energy for a while and, to be quite honest, I think we've earned it! Sagittarius is a forward thinking sign who is all about broadening his horizons, which is great energy for a New Moon methinks! New Moons represent the time in the month when the Sun and Moon reunite in the heavens and we have a chance to take stock; to think about what we might want to create for ourselves and start planting the seeds. Our thoughts contain energy and have the potential to manifest in reality so it is important to be mindful and to make sure that we don't hold ourselves back through fearful, limiting or negative thoughts or beliefs. It is amazing how we do hold ourselves back from being all that we can be simply by not believing that it's possible. Well let me assure you, Sagittarius will have none of that! He brings to us the gift of hope, faith and utter belief in a positive outcome.

Sagittarius is a mutable fire sign who is known for being optimistic, enthusiastic, adventurous and lucky. My experience is that Sagittarius tends to create his own luck because he has such faith that whatever he does will work out that it generally does do just that! And if it doesn't then he will be able to see something positive in the lessons and experiences along the way! Sagittarius is the centaur who aims his bow to shoot an arrow into the heavens. He aims high, shooting for the stars and seeking higher meaning in life, and this is the kind of energy that we must emulate during this New Moon. We must look forward and contemplate what we really want for ourselves, making sure it is for our highest good and not be afraid to hope that it might actually happen! Sagittarius doesn't know the meaning of the word fear; he thinks big and lives by his intuition, inhabiting the higher mind. He loves to broaden his horizons in whatever way he can, so we must take a leaf out of his book and be open to new experiences in the coming weeks. We must be on the lookout for people who cross our path and the messages they have for us. We may well have messages for them too, so we must make sure that we maintain a positive attitude. Sagittarius is the traveller of the zodiac, and good travellers always keep an eye out for omens and messengers because they could lead them down a path they never even knew existed.

Uranus in Aries is forming a flowing and harmonious aspect to this New Moon, helping us to break through our limitations, freeing us from anything which may be holding us back from the truth of who we are. Uranus brings an element of excitement and uncertainty to our lives and tends to blast through blocks, creating situations which force us out of any situations or beliefs that are preventing us from growth. He has a deep disdain for stagnation or ruts of any description and takes great delight in rattling our cages and breaking any chains that may bind us! The good news is that during this Moon he is forming an easy, flowing aspect to the Moon which gives us the chance to recognise what needs to change and how we might like to go about it rather than having it forced on us. It merely holds the promise that if we are brave enough to envision something new for ourselves that we will be helped along the way. He may even give us a few flashes of inspiration and sudden insights which may allow us to see where we want to go. He just wants us to stand in our truth and be counted and will do what he can to make this happen. Combined with Sagittarius's tendency to think big, Uranus could definitely help us envision a brighter future and to step out of our comfort zones in order to achieve it.

In the meantime, a lovely water trine continues to build between Jupiter in Cancer and Saturn in Scorpio which offers us the hope of fulfilling our dreams. It also brings the possibility of meeting some very significant people, as Jupiter in Cancer helps us grow on an emotional level and connects us with our “tribe”, while Saturn is the Lord of Karma. People may cross our path who we have known before and who have some kind of lesson or gift for us, and us them. Jupiter is the ruler of Sagittarius and represents growth, faith and expansion, while Saturn is the master builder who helps us create something of real and lasting value. Combine the two together and we have the potential for realistic and concrete growth and expansion together with the possibility of building something that will actually survive. It seems like it is a really good time for new ventures and adventures and for joining forces with like minded souls who resonate with us on an emotional level. Jupiter has the faith and enthusiasm while Saturn grounds us and makes sure that whatever we envision has realistic potential.

The only possible dampener during this New Moon is Chiron, the Wounded Healer, forming a challenging aspect to the Sun and Moon. It makes sense to me however, because growth and change can't happen without stirring up a bit of pain and discomfort. Chiron shows where we are wounded and insecure and tends to highlight our more vulnerable parts, so it is quite possible that all of this thought of change and envisioning what we might truly want for ourselves could trigger our weak spots and make our confidence falter somewhat. We might feel a bit scared, confused and vulnerable when we contemplate a bigger and better future but we mustn't let that hold us back from changing our lives or moving forward. It is also possible that the people we come across during this time could trigger some old pain and open wounds that we didn't even know we had. Karmic connections can do that because they often involve unfinished business. This is a great healing opportunity and it is very important that we treat ourselves and others with compassion and kindness. Stepping into the unknown can be scary and growth can be painful, but at least we know we are alive!

This New Moon is the perfect opportunity to aim our bow and shoot for the stars! It seems like all of the planetary energy is helping us do just that; to set our sights on what we truly want for ourselves and dare to reach for it. We are only limited by our beliefs and conditioning, and Uranus is helping us to break free of anything that is holding us back, including false and limiting beliefs! Sagittarius season is upon us and it is a time to embrace all of his best qualities of joviality, faith, hope, optimism and joy! It is a welcome relief after the intensity of this Scorpio season so we must make the most of the respite while it lasts because Capricorn season will be upon us soon enough with some more lessons and challenges. New Moons are a time of new beginnings and we must take this opportunity to set some positive intentions for ourselves that are based on our most heartfelt desires. Don't be afraid to aim high! Have some fun, meet some new people and be open to the messages and signs along the way. We might end up wandering down a path we have never walked down before, and who knows what we might find there? This New Moon is all about broadening our horizons and breaking down and beliefs that are holding us back from achieving our full potential. If you truly believe it can happen it will happen! This is a time to step out of the prison of our own minds and envision life as we would truly like it to be. In the meantime, keep an eye out for those signs along the way!

Much love

TAURUS FULL MOON - Sunday 17 November 2013

Exact at 3.18pm GMT, 10.18am EST!

Finally, a Moon that offers the possibility of some stability and tranquility! The Taurus Full Moon isn't all a bed of roses, but compared to the past couple of Moons and their eclipses, the Pluto Uranus square and Mercury retrograde in Scorpio, it's a walk in the park! The Mercury retrograde period, combined with the powerful Solar Eclipse in Scorpio, has forced us to face our shadows and confront some rather uncomfortable truths about ourselves that may have knocked us off kilter somewhat. It has not been an easy ride for many as we have had to face up to the Scorpionic issues of abandonment, loss, trust, betrayal, vulnerability, emotional honesty, obsession, power/powerlessness, not to mention a good dose of the death and rebirth principle! It hasn't been a very comfortable process! We have had the opportunity to truly understand the root cause of some of our more destructive emotional patterns as old, buried gunk and trauma have come bubbling up to the surface. We have learned so much about ourselves in the process and a lot of it hasn't been pretty! Our experiences have certainly been gifts, allowing us to see where we are still held back from all we want, but it has all been a bit heavy and painful! It's hard to recognise a gift when the packaging is so unpleasant! Sometimes the only way to truly understand and grow is to fully experience our demons so that we can understand and integrate them rather than denying their existence. Otherwise they just lurk around in the shadows doing all sorts of damage because they are unconscious. It is now time to let the old stories go and create new ones in their place.

Now Mercury retrograde is all over bar the shouting and we are moving towards the Taurus Full Moon, which does offer a bit of safety and peace in comparison to the intensity we have experienced in recent times! As with any Full Moon, however, whatever we have been contending with over the couple of weeks since the New Moon does tend to come to a head. As the Moon peaks so do our emotions. This Moon is not challenged significantly by any planets and is supported by Jupiter and Mars, added to which it is in stable and earthy Taurus which should give us some solid ground to stand on! This will feel good after all of the transformational energy of Scorpio which tends to pull the rug out from under us in order to help us grow! When I think of Taurus I see a cow chewing the cud, quietly and contentedly enjoying food, water and sunshine. During Scorpio season things tend to fall away as the leaves wither and die, stripping the branches bare. In Taurus new buds form and the soil is fresh and fertile so new life can form. So much has been revealed and let go of in recent times as layer upon layer has been stripped back, so now it is time to rise from the ashes and create something new and healthy to replace whatever has passed away.

Taurus is ruled by Venus, the planet of love and beauty, and reminds us of the pleasures that life has to offer. She is practical and earthy and rules the senses so this is a great moon to embrace the simple things in life such as food, nature and physical touch. Taurus shows us that however we feel about ourselves will determine what we attract into our lives, whether that be love or money. Taurus is the sign of self-worth, self-esteem and our core values. Taurus asks us to ensure that whatever we are doing in our lives and whatever relationship we are in aligns with our core values. If not, it won't work in the long run and will always be a struggle. Taurus represents talents and skills that come naturally to us as well as things that we love and value. Ideally whatever we do in life should come naturally to us and be something we really love and care about. I heard a story recently of a man who had always wanted to have an old fashioned sweet shop, ever since he was a kid. Recently he saw an opportunity and packed everything in and bought a little shop in a remote village, finally fulfilling his childhood dream. People are now travelling far and wide to visit his shop. He is a success because he is being true to himself and doing what he loves. When we honour our values and natural talents our self-esteem and self-worth increases and the energy starts to flow properly so that we can experience the abundance that life has to offer. Thus is the lesson of Taurus.

Despite the calm stability of Taurus there is still a bit of intense, Scorpionic energy attached to this Full Moon. For a start the Sun in Scorpio is sitting directly opposite the Taurus Moon. Venus, the ruler of Taurus, is also joining forces with Pluto, the ruler of Scorpio. This could make relationships a bit intense! They are also being challenged by unpredictable Uranus in Aries which could upset the status quo within our relationships and also our financial lives. Venus shows how we relate and how we attract both love and money into our lives. Pluto represents power/powerlessness and digs deep to get to the root of any issue, destroying anything which is not working. They are combining forces in Capricorn who is known for being rather cautious and controlled but when he commits, he's in for the long haul. This combination of Venus, Pluto and Uranus could cause anything that has been simmering below the surface within our relationships to erupt, stripping them down to the bone and forcing us to relate to each other from a place of authenticity, truth and integrity. We are being asked to look at our relationships and finances in a truthful and realistic way. This is an opportunity to gain some real insights and to really get to the nitty gritty of anything which may be bothering us. This combination of planets forces us to make sure that our relationships and the way in which we make a living really resonate with who we are and what we value. The next few days could be quite emotionally intense and relationships and/or jobs could fall away if they do not resonate with our truth. Or they could be transformed so they are deeper, better or closer than they were before. Thankfully Chiron, the Wounded Healer, is forming a supportive aspect to Venus and Mercury which ensures that any exhanges will also contain the spirit of compassion and forgiveness and will be very healing in nature.

Mercury, the planet of thought and communication, is going to be forming his third and final conjunction to the Scorpio North Node during this Full Moon. The Scorpio North Node is encouraging us to evolve collectively by leaving behind Taurus's stubborn self-sufficiency and attachment to the material world as well as any tendency to stay in situations which are safe but which don't help us grow. It is encouraging us to take risks and to merge physically, emotionally and/or materially with others. We are being asked to join forces and combine our energy and skills with others because together we can achieve so much more than we ever could alone. Scorpio reminds us that money is just energy and if you hold onto anything too tightly the energy gets stuck and stagnates so that it stops flowing properly. We are currently being prompted to let go of the safety of the status quo and let the energy flow again. Investment is, and could be, a subject that could come up during this Moon, as could the idea of people combining their resources instead of struggling alone. Mercury joining forces with the North Node will bring these issues to the forefront of our minds, while also asking us to connect with others on a deeper emotional level. Scorpio wants us to let go and trust others with the truth of all that we are, warts and all. Whenever we move forward towards the North Node it involves taking a step out of our comfort zones, such is the nature of growth. By taking a risk and venturing into unchartered territory, whether that be emotionally, spiritually or physically, we allow the energy to start flowing and for us to move forward on our soul's journey.

Overall the tone of this Full Moon is much less intense than the past couple of Moons and offers us a solid base so we can have a bit of a breather without the fear of the ground falling out from under our feet! Many of us have taken a trip into the underworld recently and had to contend with some monsters along the way! We have, however, also received some profoundly beautiful gifts because all of our experiences have taught us so much about ourselves and what holds us back from what we truly want. The unconscious has become conscious and that is a beautiful thing. Now we have to take what we have learned and put it into practice so that it works for us in a tangible way. To help us along our way a lovely water trine is currently building between Jupiter in Cancer and Saturn in Scorpio and will be exact on the 13th of December. It holds the promise of realistic growth and expansion on a physical and emotional level, as long as we remain true to ourselves and our values and are willing to step outside of our comfort zones. This will allow us to build something very real and long lasting. There is definitely a sense that we are slowly able to crawl out of the trenches and to start putting some healthy roots down to replace whatever has fallen away in recent times, whether it be relationships, jobs, emotional patterns, attitudes, living situations. Whatever we start to build now, however, must be aligned with our highest truth and be a reflection of the best of who we are. Otherwise what is the point of all of the lessons we have learned?!

Much love

SCORPIO NEW MOON / TOTAL SOLAR ECLIPSE - SUNDAY 3 NOVEMBER 2013

Exact at 12.50pm GMT, 7.50am EST

This is a whopper of a week, there's no doubt about it! I must apologise for the length of this post but there really is no way around it as it is all important information! Not only is Mercury retrograde in Scorpio but we also have the 4th exact Pluto Uranus square on Friday and to top it all off a New Moon/ Total Solar eclipse in intense and deeply emotional Scorpio, the sign of death and rebirth! This combination of energies could be profoundly unsettling as we gear up for a big emotional shift. The Solar Eclipse represent a major turning point and a much more far reaching and significant new beginning than your average New Moon! This particular New Moon/Solar Eclipse has the potential to place us on an entirely new path and its effects could be felt anywhere from six months to two years afterwards. Of course, such profound changes can be quite uncomfortable and destabilising as we are forced out of our comfort zones and into uncharted territory. This is a time of profound shifts and transformation, when we are forced to face our shadows, own up to the more vulnerable parts of ourselves and shed yet more dead skin. We are being offered a beautiful opportunity to recognise any emotional patterns that may still be holding us back from everything we want in life, which is very exciting but could also force us to confront some rather painful truths! It is hard to make that journey into the underworld and find what is hidden there, but the rewards and potential for growth are quite simply astounding if we are brave enough to take the plunge!

Scorpio is the sign of the month as not only are the Sun and Moon forming their monthly union in this deeply emotional, soulful sign but retrograde Mercury, Saturn and the North Node of the Moon are also surrounding the cosmic couple. There is absolutely nothing light or superficial about Scorpio. Quite the opposite in fact as she really likes to get to the heart of the matter, delving around in places we would really rather not go in order to discover what is hidden there. She asks us to be truly honest and reveal the parts of ourselves we generally find it hard to admit to, allowing ourselves to trust another enough to expose our vulnerabilities so that we can open ourselves up to true intimacy. Trust and emotional honesty are a big part of the Scorpio experience. It takes a lot to let go of the facade and expose our tender underbellies but when we are brave enough to do so we open ourselves up to a far deeper emotional connection than we would have had if we hadn't. It may not be pretty but life isn't pretty, but rather it is a precarious balance between the light and dark. Scorpio is an incredibly intuitive and insightful sign and really likes to probe beneath the surface and pinpoint the crux of any given issue or problem. She is also the sign of transformation, or death and rebirth, and like a snake shedding its skin or a phoenix rising from the ashes we experience the pain of things falling away, only to rise again, reborn, shiny and new. There is a strong sense of things passing away during this New Moon period and it is important to remember that it is paving the way for a new beginning of some kind.

Saturn is a very big part of the picture during this New Moon which definitely adds some weight to the picture. He asks us to be completely and utterly truthful with ourselves and our loved ones and to take responsibility for whatever that truth may be. This could be quite uncomfortable as what we find could be quite hard to take, but ultimately it will help us to understand what we need to do in order to move forward and grow. Saturn in Scorpio has quite a sobering influence as he forces us to face up to the cold, stark reality of things which could be quite tough but will only bring us closer to who and what we really and truly are. We all have things about us that we are not proud of and some not so pleasant aspects of who we are. We all have fears, vulnerabilities and destructive emotional patterns born out of childhood that hold us back from true happiness. Saturn has a tendency to make us very aware of how we reap what we have sown and this New Moon provides us with an amazing opportunity to gain some insight into what is holding us back from getting what we really and truly want in life. What we find may be a bit harsh and even depressing, but it will also help us to pinpoint what needs to change in order for us to move forward with integrity.

Just to add to the overall intensity of this New Moon weekend we have the fourth of seven exact Pluto and Uranus squares forming on Friday the 1st of November. The energy of both the square and the Eclipse building at the same time is likely to be quite unsettling, that's for sure! Pluto and Uranus have been shaking up the structure of our lives both personally and collectively over the past couple of years, forcing us to step into the truth of who we are and let go of anything which is holding us back from our true potential. We are half way through the process now and much has changed since it all began, that's for sure! On a global level there has been much change and unrest as people have risen up against the injustices of the current social system, pinpointing what simply no long works any more. The rot has been slowly but surely exposed within our patriarchal systems such as the banks, governments and corporations and we have experienced the breakdown of outworn and outdated systems which have no place in the world we now live in. Pluto and Uranus formed a conjunction in the late sixties, which brought massive upheaval, social change and civil unrest, and this square represents the continuation of that process. Many things have fallen away in the past couple of years, both personally and collectively, and this fourth square will once again challenge us to step up to the plate and be true to ourselves so that we can move forward with integrity. This may involve us having to step outside of our comfort zones and anything which may be holding us back from achieving our truest potential at a soul level might have to be stripped away, such as relationships, limiting beliefs, jobs, living situations or outworn emotional patterns. It is important to look back to 2010 and contemplate what has changed since then. A cardinal T-square back then was a catalyst for some profound changes and this square may well highlight what we still need to change in order for us to step up and be counted!

Mercury is also a very big part of the picture at the moment as not only is he retrograde but he is also joining the Sun and Moon for this New Moon/Solar Eclipse. He is giving us a chance to look deep within and confront the not so pretty parts of ourselves, our fears and vulnerabilities. His retrospective action may mean that old patterns and reactions may be triggered in order for us to understand and release the strangle hold they have over our lives and relationships. While Mercury is retrograde in Scorpio we may have to deal with some dark or obsessive thinking, jealousy, rage, grief, guilt, possessiveness, control or fear; all the stuff that we might usually keep hidden from view but which can give us an enormous amount of insight into what holds us back from having healthy relationships. I feel that the greatest gift of this retrograde period is the possibility of old, buried stuff coming to light in order for us to gain insight into emotional patterns formed in childhood. Many of them are completely unconscious and Mercury retrograde in Scorpio has the ability to help us truly understand at a very deep level the hold certain experiences have had over us and how they effect our life and relationships. This is a beautiful gift so it is important to be open and aware during these few weeks. Anything that comes up during this time, such as strong emotional reactions, pain and discomfort should be examined under the microscope because it could be very revealing indeed!

During the New Moon Mercury is forming an exact conjunction with the North Node of the Moon in Scorpio which will give us an enormous amount of insight into our past and how it has had an impact on our future. The North Node's involvement in the picture brings a strong element of destiny to this New Moon and gives a sense that whatever happens during this time will help us move forward on our soul's journey. The North Node has been in Scorpio since August 29th 2012 and has has been asking us to embrace the energy of Scorpio, shedding any dead weight and moving towards greater intimacy in our relationships by allowing ourselves to truly trust and be emotionally honest. We are collectively leaving the Taurus South Node behind and getting out of any comfortable ruts we may have been in as well as letting go of the misguided idea that we need to go it alone. Taurus is the essence of self sufficiency while Scorpio encourages us to join forces with another, merging our resources and skills to make a partnership that is “stronger than the sum of its parts”. Taurus holds onto her possessions for dear life while Scorpio asks us to let go, releasing ourselves from the shackles of the material world and embracing change. Whatever happens during this New Moon/Eclipse will have a big impact on the overall direction of our lives and help us move forward on our spiritual journeys.

There is so much going on this week that I could go on forever, but I have tried to just speak about the things that I feel are the most relevant and important. Chiron, the Wounded Healer, is playing an important role in events this week as not only is he forming a supportive aspect to the Sun and Moon in Scorpio but he is also aspecting the Pluto Uranus square. He is providing us with loving, healing support and guidance though any shifts, changes, and possible discomfort we might be experiencing during this profoundly transforming time. This is so beautiful! His presence will allow whatever feelings we might experience to flow freely and for us to view all that comes up in the light of true compassion and forgiveness. Mercury will have formed a supportive aspect to Chiron three times by the end of this retrograde period, firstly on the 8th of October, secondly on Friday the 1st of November and for one last time on the 21st of November. The combination of Mercury and Chiron will enable us to communicate our emotions, insecurities and wounds freely and openly and also gain tremendous insights into their source. It is very likely that we will have some very beautiful, heartfelt and healing conversations around the days that these two aspect each other.

Phew! All I can say is that Friday is very significant indeed so we should keep an eye on whatever happens or comes up during the course of the day. Added to which, this New Moon/Solar Eclipse marks a major turning point in our lives which will become apparent with time. As Scorpio is such an “all or nothing” kind of sign that we are very likely to experience some very intense emotions rising up from the depths over the course of this month and especially over the course of this week. The energy of new beginnings and transformation is threefold with the Pluto Uranus square, the New Moon Solar Eclipse combined with the North Node and the fact that it is all happening under the umbrella of Scorpio, the sign of death and rebirth! This is intensity central, so if you have been feeling tense or unsettled then you now know why! I have found myself letting out some incredibly deep sighs in the past couple of days and I have had to remind myself to breathe! This is the perfect time to plunge down into the depths of our psyches and discover what is hidden there and while what we find may cause us considerable discomfort or even pain it is quite likely that we shall also find some hidden treasure lurking there too. It will certainly increase our self awareness and bring us closer to the truth of who we are and that is a beautiful thing. Facing our shadows and most importantly finding acceptance can cause them to dramatically lose the power they have over us. This period of time is an amazing opportunity to shed old skin, letting go of outworn patterns so that we can be born anew and move closer to our true destiny. What do they say : “The darkest hour is before dawn”? Don't forget to breathe!

Much love

MERCURY RETROGRADE IN SCORPIO – 21 October until 10 November 2013

Mercury is due to turn retrograde in the intensely emotional, probing sign of Scorpio on Monday 21st of October having been in the retrograde zone since October 1st. This is the third and final retrograde period of this year for Mercury, completing a run of retrogrades in the water signs. Water rules the emotions, intuition and is feminine in nature, and this year the planets have definitely been encouraging a shift towards the feminine. In a world dominated by logic and reason it is more than time to to allow the right side of our brains to play a bigger role, creating more of a balance between intuition and logic; creativity and hard reason. Both the masculine and feminine have an equal part to play in this world but the masculine has had precedence for far too long now and it is time that changed. The last of this year's retrograde periods is in soulful Scorpio who is deeply perceptive and intuitive and demands emotional honesty no matter how uncomfortable or painful it may be. Scorpio likes to dig deep below the surface of things and find what lurks below, so we can expect to make to interesting discoveries and have some quite profound insights into our psyches during this retrograde period.

As with all Mercury retrogrades we must be very careful with our communication and be aware that mistakes and misunderstandings can easily occur while Mercury is going backwards! Anything that involves communication, such as computers or telephones, could be a source of confusion or frustration at this time. There is also the possibility of travel delays and disruptions, or our modes of transport randomly breaking down on us! The key to retrograde periods is to maintain a sense of humour and accept that whatever delays or confusion we may experience are probably happening for some good reason that will become apparent with time. While we may like to imagine that things just “happen to us” we play more of a part in creating circumstances than we might think! This is a time when Mercury, the ruler of our rational, logical mind, has decided to take a bit of a break so it is an ideal time to let our intuitive, creative right side of the brain have free rein. This is not the time to start new projects, form new relationships or make any major decisions; a better use of the time is to look back over what we have already started and tie up any loose ends. People from the past have a tendency to pop up during retrograde periods providing us with an opportunity to revisit something that may somehow be unresolved between us. Indeed, Mercury retrogrades are an ideal time to reflect, revisit, review, restock, resolve, re-evaluate, redo, reorient, revamp, re-edit, re-assess and, most importantly, relax!

Mercury in Scorpio brings to mind a detective or a psychologist. Mercury rules the mind, communication and thought processes while Scorpio is a deeply emotional sign who likes to dive deep below the surface of things and poke around in places we would really rather not go! It is quite possible that we will be forced to face some things that we would normally prefer to avoid, confronting our shadows and accepting the not so pretty parts of ourselves. It is very important that we avoid beating ourselves up about whatever we may find because nobody is perfect and we must learn to love ourselves despite any failings we may have. That also goes for others too; we must practice compassion and forgiveness because we are all just human and merely doing the best we can. Scorpio likes to get the magnifying glass out and turn over all of the stones to see what lurks underneath, so we could find ourselves digging around, unearthing some dark secrets and solving some hitherto unsolved mysteries while Mercury is in this deep and penetrating sign. There is also the potential for some profound insights and very deep conversations in the next few weeks as Scorpio does have a deep disdain for the superficial and likes to get to the root of the matter!

Scorpio is known for emotional honesty so we can expect to give or receive some uncomfortable truths over the next few weeks. The Scorpion's tail has quite a sting and combined with the retrograde's tendency to create miscommunication it is possible that certain truths may inadvertently be revealed through a slip of the tongue. Come to think of it, I would say that Mercury Retrograde in Scorpio would be the epitome of the Freudian slip so it will be interesting to see what may accidentally come to light during this time. It could be very revealing! Scorpio is also the energy of transformation and metamorphosis and like a snake shedding its skin we have the chance to shed outworn thought patterns or ways of thinking that are unhealthy or no longer serving us. Whatever comes up now, such as old grudges, limiting perceptions, paranoia, obsessions or fixations, should be seen as gifts; enabling us to see our shadows and to purge, heal and transform them so that we can move forward as the embodiment of the purest, highest form of Scorpio – the soul. The phoenix rises out of the ashes after the flames have destroyed (or purified) whatever is unhealthy or rotten. Such is the energy of Scorpio; it transforms and transmutes so that our shadows become our strengths. After the darkest night comes the brightest morning.

When Mercury turns retrograde he tends to form aspects to certain planets more than once, which means that we experience the same energy two or three times. On the 8th of October he joined Saturn and the North Node which would have led to some very deep conversations and helped us speak our truth and share our vulnerabilities more so than at other times. Saturn is a very serious, heavy, karmic planet and makes us think of where we have been and where we are going and how we reap what we have sowed. In Scorpio this could take our thoughts and interactions to some rather dark places which could even make us a bit anxious or depressed. Mercury will join up with Saturn again on the 30th of October when he is in his backward motion, which may bring up similar thoughts or conversations again and then will pass over one last time on the 26th of November. By the final pass we should have more understanding of whatever we have been dealing with and hopefully find some resolution! Mercury will also be passing over the same degree of Scorpio as the Solar Eclipse which will be occurring on November 3rd. Eclipses signify major new beginnings and the start of a new chapter, so when Mercury passes over that Eclipse point it could give us some insight and understanding of what is beginning in our lives. The first time Mercury hit this sensitive point was also on October 8th, the second time will be on October 31st and the last time will be on November 21st. We should all keep an eye on these days as they have been and will be significant. I know that October 8th was for me and I am interested to see what happens on the second pass. I hope to understand more since I have had time to process what happened on the first pass.

This could be an incredibly healing time because while emotional honesty can sometimes be quite painful and uncomfortable it does force us to confront ourselves so that real growth can occur. If we leave things floating around under the surface they start to fester so it is much better to bring them out into the light of day because then they lose their power over us. This retrograde period has the potential to be quite revealing as it brings unconscious blocks up into the light and forces us to look at where we are holding ourselves back through our outlook or thought patterns. It is important to watch what we say and also to keep an ear out for what other people might say at this time because we may gain tremendous insight from slips of the tongue or emotions rising up from the deep. This could be a very interesting time indeed and is certainly has the power to put us more in touch with our unconscious urges, vulnerabilities and shadow sides than we would usually dare to allow. It is most important that we practice compassion for ourselves and others because while we may become more aware of our and others failings we must remember that we are all human. Whatever comes up now we must examine without judgement, seeking to understand and then release it so that we can move forward with greater understanding and less weight. That is Scorpio's greatest gift; the ability to let go.

1 October 2013 - Mercury enters retrograde zone
21 October 2013 – Mercury stations retrograde
10 November 2013 – Mercury stations direct
27 November 2013 – Mercury leaves the retrograde zone.

Much love

ARIES FULL MOON / PARTIAL LUNAR ECLIPSE - 18 / 19 October 2013

Saturday 19 October at 12.35am BST, Friday 18 October at 7.35pm EDT!

This is an incredibly potent Full Moon as not only is it following one of the most powerful New Moons of the year but it is also a partial Lunar Eclipse. Eclipses make Full Moons even more intense and tend to have far reaching effects on our lives which means that the impact could occur anywhere from 6 months to 2 years after the Eclipse itself. Lunar Eclipses represent major endings, closure, letting go and tend to signify the end of a chapter of our lives. They are an extreme version of a Full Moon, when something that has been building for some time reaches a climax and we have no choice but to face up to it and let go. They create space for the Solar Eclipse that follows two weeks later which is a time of a major birth of something new and a significant fresh start. When one door closes another opens! There is definitely a sense that this is the end of a chapter of our lives and that another one is about to start. This Moon is very much focused on our role within relationships and the balance between the need to be ourselves and the need to be involved with others. Mars and Venus, the cosmic lovers, are the stars of the show here as they are the rulers of the Moon and Sun and are also forming some quite significant aspects to other planets. Added to which Jupiter, the largest planet, is greatly exaggerating the effect the Full Moon will have on our emotions, so we can expect whatever happens during this moon to be quite big!

The Moon is full in energetic, forthright and assertive Aries and is sitting directly opposite the Sun in gentle, peace loving and diplomatic Libra. The key to the Full Moon is finding a balance between the energy of the two signs. When it comes to Aries and Libra we must find the balance between a healthy sense of self (Aries) and the urge to relate to others and take their needs into consideration (Libra). Aries cries out “What about me?” while Libra says “What about us?”. The motto for Aries is “I am” while the Libra motto is “I balance” and a relationship between two people is indeed a delicate balance between their individual needs and journeys. It is very important that we do give ourself enough self-love because it is only when we love ourselves that we are able to truly give and accept love from others. A little bit of Aries isn't such a bad thing as it teaches us to assert ourselves and make sure our needs are met, but we just have to make sure that it doesn't spill over into being so self-absorbed that we don't consider the needs of others. Too much Libra however means that we think so much about the other person that we lose ourselves in the relationship and neglect our own needs, straying off our individual path. Somewhere in the middle of the two we find the answer and the way. The energy of the Aries Moon could bring things to a head as we have to contend with some quite strong, raw emotions which could potentially burst out in quite an inappropriate manner. There is an impulsiveness to Aries as he tends to act first and think later! Again, we must take a leaf out of Libra's book and make sure we think of others feelings before we speak.

The ruler of this Aries Moon is Mars, the warrior or animus, who is currently residing in earthy, humble and organised Virgo, indicating that it is a good time to put our energy into organising ourselves and helping others, such is the Virgo way! Mars is sitting directly opposite Neptune during this Full Moon which could manifest in a variety of ways. The usually direct, active, aggressive energy of Mars could be quelled or diffused somewhat by Neptune's more elusive, free flowing energy, leaving us a bit confused as to what direction we should take. We could find that we don't have as much energy as usual, to the point where we could even feel quite listless and depressed. We may not be exactly sure of how to assert ourselves and anger has the potential to manifest as passive aggression or to somehow be misdirected. We may find ourselves a bit confused, disorganised and unclear as how to proceed. The key to this aspect is to allow our intuition to guide our actions and remember that by hurting another human being we also hurt ourselves. Neptune in Pisces reminds us that we are all one and the combination of Mars and Neptune holds the potential for “inspired action” or “channelled energy”. Above all I think that it is important to consider other people's feelings before we unleash our emotions, frustration or anger on them. We are all in this together and we must remember that. We are not as separate as we think.

Venus, the goddess of love and beauty and the ruler of the Libran Sun, is forming a lovely, flowing aspect to Uranus in Aries which holds the promise of some unexpected surprises in the realms of our relationships. Uranus is very unpredictable in nature and like to shake things up, challenging the status quo. He hates stagnation or ruts! In Aries he demands that we have the freedom to be ourselves and could cause some unexpected shocks or surprises. In positive aspect to Venus he could well breathe fresh air into our relationships, adding a certain spark and bringing much needed changes to the way we relate. We may find it easier than usual to be true to ourselves and assert our individuality in our relationships with others. This is definitely a very dynamic, exciting aspect, so expect the unexpected and don't be afraid to be yourself! Venus is also forming a challenging aspect to Chiron, the wounded healer, which could mean that someone or something could be a trigger of pain in some way, possibly bringing up old, buried memories, insecurities and pain that we would rather not face. Instead of blindly reacting to it, however, it would be far better to see it as a gift, helping us to bring old pain up to the forefront of our consciousness to be examined, understood and healed with kindness and compassion. Luckily Mercury and Jupiter are forming a positive aspect to each other in the Water signs which will help us see the bigger picture and to talk about our feelings as well as gaining considerable insight into where they stem from.

Jupiter is currently in Cancer, the sign of home, family and the roots of our emotional patterns. He is forming a challenging aspect to both the Sun and the Moon and this has the potential to greatly exaggerate and expand the effect the Moon has on our emotions. In Cancer he will bring family concerns to the forefront, highlighting how our family life and experiences in childhood have had an impact both on the person we are and who we are becoming. This could be a pivotal moment as the Moon represents the past and the Sun shows where and what we are moving towards while Jupiter is sitting smack bang in the middle of the two of them, challenging us to look at the bigger picture and understand how all that has come before has created what we face now. Jupiter represents wisdom gained through experience and his aim is to help us grow on an emotional level; to move beyond the emotional habits and patterns that are no longer appropriate and to find a new way of coping with life and our relationships. Jupiter in Cancer could be described as “wealth of emotion” and as he is such a important part of this Full Moon we should be prepared for some fairly big emotions to rise up over the next few days!

This Moon definitely has the potential to bring up some pretty raw and unfiltered emotions as it is in the sign of Aries, the first sign of the zodiac who hasn't yet learned to hide what he is feeling! It is important to channel any strong emotions that may come to the surface into some kind of healthy outlet rather than unleashing them onto those close to us without a thought. Aries is “Act first, think later” kind of energy so it is really important to balance it out with Libra's tendency take other people's feelings into consideration. The Lunar Eclipse adds far more power to this Moon as it represents the end of a chapter and a chance to release the past and move forward. In the meantime Pluto and Uranus are inching towards their fourth exact square on November 1st so the tension is building as we are forced to break down yet more outworn patterns and eliminate anything that isn't working in our lives. Anything that does pass away at this time is obviously no longer serving us, so better to let go with grace. Pluto and Uranus don't take away anything that we still need, only that which is holding us back from standing in our truth with integrity. As this Moon reaches its climax anything that is bothering us or needs to change will probably be so glaringly obvious that we will have no choice but to face it and let it go. Whatever passes away now is merely creating space that will be filled as the Solar Eclipse on November 3rd ushers in a new chapter of our lives.

Much love

LIBRA NEW MOON - 4/5 October 2013

Exact 1.35am on Saturday BST , 8.35pm on Friday EDT!

This New Moon packs a powerful punch, that’s for sure! The winds of change are coming through, blowing away the cobwebs and clearing away any energetic debris from our lives, souls and psyches. The infamous Pluto Uranus square is very much involved in this Moon, bringing radical changes upheaval and fresh perspectives on a personal level which may or may not be comfortable! As the New Moon is in Libra we may well experience these changes in the realm of our relationships with others. This Moon involves a T-square in the cardinal signs which represent the urge to create something new and initiate change and new beginnings. This T-square is very likely to give us a big push forward on our journeys, whether we are ready or not! New Moons are also  a time of new beginnings when we leave anything we don’t need behind in the dark of the moon and walk towards the light with a new set of intentions for the month ahead. This New Moon is the perfect opportunity to get rid of anything that is old and outworn, whether that be attitudes, beliefs, patterns, relationships or jobs, and make space for something shiny and new to take its place. We may have to step outside of our comfort zones and try something entirely new on for size but if we do so consciously and willingly some wonderful things could happen! We have all been through so many changes in the past couple of years that our old way of relating simply won’t work anymore, so anything we invite in now should be a reflection of who we are becoming and not who we were. The more honest with ourselves we can be the better chance we have of attracting something worthwhile.

The Sun and Moon are forming their monthly union in Libra, the sign of balance, harmony, justice and peace. Libra is an air sign so it is very much focused on thinking, communicating and above all socialising! Indeed, Libra is the sign of “other”, with an emphasis on how we relate and how other people tend to be mirrors showing us who we are. It is through our relationships with others that we truly come to know ourselves and what we see in the mirror isn’t always pretty! Libra is represented by the scales which show us that we must find balance between our needs and the needs of the other. When you bend over backwards for someone and give too much you tip balance of the scales, as you do when you think only of yourself and fail to consider their needs. Relationships are a delicate balance between two people and their individual paths. The best kind of relationship should involve the two people staying true to themselves yet meeting somewhere in the middle, in the common area so to speak! Libra is a natural diplomat and is incredibly adapt at the art of compromise, which can of course go to the extreme and mean that he becomes all things for all people. He strives for fairness and justice and can often be found in the role of the peacemaker or matchmaker. This New Moon is quite likely to bring relationships to the forefront of our consciousness and is a perfect time to think about what we truly want and initiate something new, whether that be a new relationship or a new way of relating. It is important to know who we are and what we want and to remain true to that. A relationship should not involve losing ourselves but should rather be a beautiful balancing act between our truth and theirs.

Venus, the ruler of the Libra, is in Scorpio which is a very deep and intense place for the planet of love and beauty to be. She is nearing the end of her stay in soulful Scorpio and has been forcing us to look at our deepest, darkest needs and desires when it comes to relationships and helping us to connect to others on a deeper, more profound level. Scorpio encourages us to allow ourselves to show our tender underbellies to others; to show our more vulnerable side and the parts of ourselves we don’t usually let people see in case we are rejected somehow. When we do allow others to see where we are lonely, hurt or afraid then we open ourselves up to the possibility of true intimacy. To be brave enough to fully trust, risking rejection, is to invite a far deeper connection that we have ever known before. Such is Scorpio’s lesson. It calls for complete, raw emotional honesty. Venus will leave Scorpio for the less intense and more light-hearted and jovial sign of Sagittarius on Monday 7 October.

While the backdrop of this Moon is our relationship to ourselves and others, the Pluto Uranus square is having a direct and powerful energetic impact on us as we build up to the 4th exact square on November 1st. The energy of the square creates massive upheaval and breakdown of structures that we thought we could rely on. With breakdown comes breakthrough however and while certain beliefs, relationships and situations may fall away whatever takes their place will be much healthier and more appropriate to who we really are. These two planets only shake up and destroy anything which no longer has a place in our lives so we should remember that as any walls around us start to crumble! Change is growth! Their aim is to empower us and enable us to stand in our truth with integrity and our heads held high. Whatever falls away at this time is simply not right for us anymore so we must let it go and not try to cling to it just because it’s familiar. Anything that comes our way now might scare us a little bit with its unfamiliarity but we must embrace it and be willing to ride the waves of change. It is far better to bend willingly than to stiffen up and resist, that’s for sure! Change is happening no matter what so it is up to us whether we make it hard on ourselves or not!

The energy of Pluto and Uranus can be very jarring as it rattles our cages and throws us out of our comfortable ruts! It has to happen however if we are going to grow and evolve into all that we can be. Uranus in Aries is very forceful and erratic and can create sudden, rapid and dramatic disruption and changes but his aim is help us break free from limitations and be true to who we really are deep inside. Once we have cleared all of the crap away then we are free to have a fresh start with a whole new set of rules that are more appropriate to the person we really are and not who we always thought we were supposed to be. There is a big difference! We could experience the darker side of Pluto, as he forms a challenging aspect to the Sun and Moon, in the form of power/powerlessness, manipulation, obsession, jealousy, possessiveness. Pluto ultimately wants us to stand in our own, personal power and not seek to gain power by stripping someone else of theirs. True power comes from within and empowers all who come into contact with it! Pluto may well strip away any outmoded emotional patterns and ways of being and make us aware of what isn’t working for us. It is important to remember that anything he takes away was no good for us anyway, and that whatever replaces it will resonate with us far more deeply than anything that has come before. Thus is the energy of Pluto, he destroys to rebuild something better in its place.

As for the other aspects, Mercury, the planet which governs our thoughts and communication, is building up to a conjunction with Saturn and the North Node in Scorpio which could bring some very serious, deep, emotionally honest thoughts and conversations in the next few days. The subject matter of our conversations will be far from light, that’s for sure! The energy of Saturn and Scorpio will make us say what we mean and mean what we say, helping us to share our innermost feelings and vulnerabilities and trust that whatever we say will not be judged or taken the wrong way. We are likely to allow ourselves to speak our truth more easily during this time and this raw honesty can help us move forward on our path somehow. Jupiter, the largest planet, is forming a stressful aspect to the Sun and Moon which could blow everything out of proportion somewhat, though his ultimate aim is to incite growth both within ourselves and in relation to others.

While this New Moon may be in sociable, balanced and harmonious Libra there is a massive amount of intense, life changing, transformational energy around as well! We may well be experiencing a build-up of pressure and tension, where some fears come bubbling to the surface, but as we release them we create space for something we have never known before to take their place. This New Moon is an ideal time to consciously clear away any energetic cobwebs or clutter and make a fresh start in the realm of our relationships. This is a time of new beginnings and this could involve a new relationship, set of routines, job, set of attitudes, but certainly it will be nowhere we have ever been before. Any relationships we form now will be radically different from any we have formed previously because we have changed so much and they are now based on the person we are now rather than the person we were before. Existing relationships are also likely to change significantly for the same reasons. The powerful energy surrounding this moon should give us a big push in the right direction which could be a bit disorientating at first but we must remember that it is all unfolding just as it should and for our greatest good. We are now moving towards the completion of exact square between Pluto and Uranus as well as a powerful set of eclipses, so get ready to ride the waves of change!! We must remember to look forward, not back and remember the overall lesson of the Libra….balance!

Much love

PISCES FULL MOON – Thursday 19 September 2013

Exact at 12.13pm BST, 7.13am EDT!

This is an incredibly potent Full Moon with a lot of powerful, karmic energy attached to it. Pisces is a very flowing, compassionate and sensitive sign that should allow for a gentle, wistful and compassionate Full Moon which allow feelings to flow easily.  There is also however a lot of heavy, testing, transformational planetary energy to contend with which adds considerable weight and gravity to the whole picture. Full Moons are a time of emotional climax, when whatever might have been bubbling below the surface comes up to be dealt with under the light of the Moon. As the tides swell so do our emotions and whatever may have been building over the course of the month tends to play out within our close relationships as the Moon reaches its peak. This Full Moon involves a lot of planets in emotional, sensitive water signs, which seems to have been the overall theme of this year! We are being asked to connect with our intuitive, nurturing, feminine nature and honour our feelings and finer instincts. This particular Full Moon might force us to have a long hard look at ourselves and confront parts of ourselves which we may previously have preferred to sweep under the carpet hoping that if we do they will disappear! We are now asked to peel back the carpet and show ourselves as we really are, moving past fears and being brave and truthful which will ultimately deepen our connection to others and help us move forward on our path. It is nowhere we have been before but is the gateway to all that we are.

The Moon is full in intuitive, sensitive and compassionate Pisces and is sitting directly opposite the analytical, health-conscious and humble Virgo Sun. The key to a Full Moon is to somehow find the balance between the two signs involved. They are essentially two sides of the same coin and in the case of Virgo and Pisces we are dealing with the healing axis. They may have two different approaches to healing but their aim is the same; to help people and make them feel better. We are drawing to the end of Virgo season, when we establish healthy routines and think about what we need to do to improve ourselves. Virgo is very aware of the body and how it functions which in the extreme can lead to hypochondria. She is interested in how each part works and likes to take things apart and put them back together again so they perform better. She has a genuine desire to useful and gains a great deal of personal satisfaction from helping people improve themselves. She has a natural gift for deciding what is useful and what has no purpose. She can get a little too caught up in details however and forget to look at the big picture and while her main aim is purification she can easily become overly perfectionistic and nitpicky.

This is where Pisces comes in! Pisces can easily see the whole picture and often can’t be bothered with the small details. Pisces understands on a very deep level that we are one; that we are all connected and come from the same melting pot. What happens to one happens to all. This makes her tremendously empathetic for she feels other people’s pain as acutely is if it were her own. Pisces truly knows how to surrender and go with the flow of life which in the extreme can mean that she embodies victim energy and is at the mercy of her experiences rather than being the master of her own destiny. She is incredibly imaginative and does actually have a very special superpower; the ability to create her reality though her own thoughts. Her imagination can at times run wild however and create fears which aren’t real. She may also find it hard to differentiate between fantasy and reality because illusion is a big part of the Pisces experience and she does have a tendency to wear rose tinted spectacles! Escapism, in the form of excess sleep, overeating, drugs, alcohol, reading, films, computer games, is also a trait of Pisces. It helps her to pour a blanket over her pain and transcend reality which can at times be too much for her sensitive nature. Our escapist tendencies may well come out in the build-up to this full moon but it would be much better to consciously face that which we fear and surrender and ride the wave, so to speak. We must let our feelings flow and remember that we are all in this together so we must be kind and compassionate and lend a hand if someone else needs it and also not be afraid to admit when we need help. That is the best of Pisces. We are not victims, but are the co-creators of our reality.

This Full Moon is likely to affect us on a very deep level as Saturn and the North Node of the Moon have finally reached their conjunction in Scorpio while Venus has now caught up with them and joined in the party! This makes me think that we might have to face some uncomfortable truths and bring some things out into the open that we would rather not deal with. Deal with them we must however, for this seems to be a good time for unearthing our deepest, darkest secrets and to shine the harsh light of reality on our lives and relationships. Saturn is testing us in the realm of all things Scorpio in order for us to move forward on our path. We are venturing into unchartered territory and that involves shedding more of what no longer works for us and finding a new way of doing things. Scorpio is a deeply emotional and intense sign and urges us to let go and trust, peeling away lies we have told ourselves and others and acknowledging the parts of ourselves that we would rather people didn’t know about. Scorpio demands emotional honesty and invites us to experience the intimacy that comes from allowing ourselves to open us and be truly vulnerable. If we are brave enough to take responsibility for whatever it is that lurks below the surface and consciously work through it then we have the potential to have some amazing breakthroughs during this Moon! If we suppress our fears and vulnerabilities instead of facing them they have the potential to come out in ways which are more destructive and unhealthy, such as rage, jealousy, physical ailments, blame or shame. This is a very karmic time indeed where we are likely to reap what we have sowed and have an opportunity to move forward and evolve spiritually, but not without having a long, hard look at ourselves first!

Venus, the planet of love, attraction and values is very much involved in this Full Moon chart which makes me think that all of this intense, karmic energy will play out in the realm of our intimate relationships. Venus combined with Saturn and the North Node in Scorpio calls for complete emotional honesty, as painful or embarrassing as that may be. People from the past make pop back up and new people may enter our lives with whom we have karmic ties.  They all have something to teach us. We are being asked to allow our true selves show so that we can experience a level of intimacy the likes of which we have never experienced before. If we can show our true feelings and not hide from them or be afraid of what people might think then we can take our relationships to a much deeper level. This is a time of reckoning, when we allow the bare, naked truth of who we are to be revealed and confront any problems we may have in our relationships instead of hiding from them. Pluto is supporting Venus during this Moon, bringing the possibility of soul connections, deep intimacy, primal emotions, intense physical love and profound, soulful attractions. Chiron in Pisces is shining a beautiful, healing light on the Venus, Saturn and North Node conjunction, bringing the promise of deep healing if we are willing to do the necessary work on ourselves in a fully conscious way. It seems like this could be a really good time for healing and soul work, as Chiron, the wounded healer, is a very supportive presence in this chart.

Pluto, the ruler of Scorpio, turns direct the day after the moon is full which will increase his potency considerably. When a planet turns direct it is at its closest to the earth which makes its energy much more powerful. Pluto is the planet of transformation and detoxification who destroys anything that isn’t working in order for something new to be born in its place. In Capricorn he has been tearing down structures both in our personal lives and within society, exposing the rot and forcing us to move forward with integrity. As Pluto turns direct more may come to light in order to be destroyed, especially as he is currently forming the last of the three sextiles with Saturn over the last year. This aspect forces us to see things as they really are and understand clearly what needs to change. Saturn then gives us the discipline, hard work and strength needed to actually make the changes. This is certainly a time to look at the cold, stark reality of whatever we are facing and just deal with it, because anything we ignore or avoid will hurt us much more than consciously facing it. We have an opportunity to clear some unwanted emotional debris away and also clear some karma; we just have to be willing to put in some work and effort.

This is a time of reckoning, when we are being forced to confront anything that may be holding us back from a deeper connection with ourselves and others. We do this by facing our fears and confronting those parts of ourselves that we really would prefer to leave under the carpet. If we leave them there we are denying a part of who we are, thus preventing true emotional honesty and the vulnerability that comes with it. This helps us to take our relationships on to the next level, deepening our intimacy while propelling us forward on our journeys. We are embarking into unchartered territory, but the old way wasn’t working for us anyway so we must take the plunge and try something else out for size. We are being called to take responsibility for all that we are and take a step forward in our evolution. This might feel a bit scary and the Pisces Moon might make us feel like escaping somehow, but while we might feel a bit overwhelmed and hopeless at times we must embrace the best of Pisces and surrender to the flow, trusting that we can ride the wave no matter where it takes us. We all feel pain sometimes and have all done things we are not proud of. No-one is exempt from this. During this Moon we must allow the feelings to flow and remember that we are all in this together, treating each other with loving kindness and compassion. This is a very significant time, when we reap what we have sowed, so it is very important that we be gentle with ourselves and others. Pisces wouldn’t have it any other way!

Much love

VIRGO NEW MOON - Thursday 5 September 2013

Exact at 12.36pm BST, 7.36am EDT!

This New Moon falls in the humble and healing sign of Virgo and provides an excellent opportunity for restructuring our lives and healing old wounds. It is Harvest time in the Northern Hemisphere and we are now being encouraged to separate the wheat from the chaff!  It is a wonderful time to leave anything that no longer serves our highest good behind in the dark of the Moon and walk towards the light with some healthy intentions and a desire to better ourselves somehow. It is back to school time so it is a perfect time to start as we mean to go on with a new set of routines and a clear plan of how to clear any unwanted debris from our lives. Virgo doesn’t like chaos or clutter so we should take a leaf out of her book and clear the chi so that we are better able to perform in our everyday lives. There are a few significant aspects from other planets to the Moon that will help us do just that, encouraging us to make some deep rooted changes and let go of any unhealthy habits, relationships or attitudes that might be dragging us down. We are being provided with amazing opportunities to bring up old pain and wounds and heal them in the spirit of acceptance, compassion and forgiveness. We may have no choice but to face them and it could be very uncomfortable, but ultimately we must recognise that they are a gift; allowing us to see what we are still carrying around that we still need to heal. This is a very significant and karmic time and ultimately we are being guided (or pushed!) further forward on our paths, so we should take advantage of this moon to look at ourselves realistically and pare down and simplify our lives.

The Sun and Moon are forming their monthly union in discerning and humble Virgo, a mutable Earth sign who is not afraid of change and always seeks to better herself.  Virgo is the sixth sign of the zodiac and forms the bridge between our inner and outer world. The pace has certainly picked up recently which has been quite overwhelming at times as we struggle to shift gears and deal with all that is being thrown at us! Virgo does like to keep busy, that’s for sure! She prefers things to be organised and in order and may get quite upset and unsettled if they are not. Virgo is concerned with work, health and daily routines and likes to pay attention to the finer details which make up the whole. As such, this is a great time to fine tune our systems; to establish some healthy routines in our lives, change our diet, make to do lists and look for positive and realistic solutions to any challenges we face. Virgo likes to create order out of chaos and has a very realistic, no nonsense approach to life.  She is also incredibly modest and humble and genuinely wants to be helpful, useful and of service to others. She likes to take things apart so that she can examine the pieces and put them back together in a more efficient manner, so this is the attitude we should take during New Moon. What do we need to improve on or let go of in order for our soul engines to run more smoothly? What can we do to simplify our lives?

Directly opposite the Sun and Moon we find Chiron, the wounded healer, in Pisces which gives us an amazing opportunity to bring old wounds to the surface in order to heal them with compassion and forgiveness. As this is an opposition it is quite likely that the opportunity to heal will come from an external source; someone else may serve as a mirror and press our buttons, triggering old trauma and opening up old wounds. While this may not be very comfortable at all it is actually an amazing gift because it helps us to realise what we are still carrying around and what still needs to be healed. It is important to recognise that the other person is only a trigger and not react too defensively, although that is easier said than done when someone is inadvertently pouring salt in our wounds! Instead we must realise that maybe we are merely being given an opportunity to revisit and replay a certain scenario in order to release the old pain. Maybe we will handle it differently this time because we have been here before, thus allowing healing to occur. This aspect can help us understand the root of our pain so that we can then let go with forgiveness and compassion for ourselves and others. Acceptance Is the key to healing rather than trying to “fix” things, for we can’t change what has happened but we can learn to accept and embrace our flaws, shadows and insecurities. Blame and shame just cause more pain and suffering while forgiveness, compassion and acceptance allow us to move forward with a lighter step. We are the sum of all that has happened in our lives and while Virgo is quick to point out our flaws and imperfections and wants to figure everything out, Chiron in Pisces reminds us that everything that happens is part of a much larger plan which will reveal itself in due time.

Also involved in this New Moon is the T-square between Pluto in Capricorn, Uranus in Aries and Jupiter in Cancer. All three planets are forming aspects to the Sun and Moon, inciting change, prompting us to let go of anything that doesn’t ultimately serve us and forcing us to stand in our truth and power. We alone know what our personal truth is and what needs to change in our lives in order for us to move forward with integrity. Venus recently joined up with the T-square to form a Grand Square and this may well have churned up some old, buried and incredibly deep emotions within the realm of our relationships. This, combined with Chiron, provides us with an opportunity to recognise where we still hold pain and what needs healing. It is time to let go of this burden and it is probably ready to be released; that is why it has come up now. Sometimes you have to confront the darkness in order to let the light in and as painful as it may be we simply can’t grow without stepping into some uncomfortable places! This is an incredibly karmic time and the combination of energies involved in this New Moon will help us decide what to keep and what has to go. Pluto is encouraging change and transformation and helping us unearth old crap while Uranus is prodding us to stand in our truth and Jupiter wants us to expand and grow on an emotional level. We may well have to step outside of our comfort zones but the rewards will be great!

Saturn and the North Node are inching closer and closer to each other in the deeply emotional sign of Scorpio and will form an exact conjunction on the 26th of September. These two are definitely forming the energetic backdrop to the recent Moons and there is a sense of the karmic past (Saturn) meeting the future (North Node). Saturn, otherwise known as Cronus, Father Time, represents our karma and shows us how we reap what we sow, while the North Node represents where we are going on a soul level; our highest potential. This could be seen as a time of reckoning where past and future collide and we are forced to let go of some people, relationships and things, but may also meet people with whom we have karmic connections who will guide us forward somehow. Letting go may be painful but is also very necessary. We are moving closer to our true potential and release anything that may be holding us back from becoming all that we can be. Saturn and the North Node in Scorpio are asking us to surrender and allow ourselves to trust in the process. It is quite likely that we will make some significant connections at this time, meeting people and having experiences which hold the key to both our present and our past. We are being asked to be brave and take the plunge, venturing into unchartered territory, and only when we do will we understand why we are there.

Overall this New Moon offers us a tremendous opportunity for healing and while that may not be very comfortable, sometimes the only way to truly let the light in is to face the darkness! The best way to handle this New Moon is to embrace the energy of Virgo and practice some discernment, deciding what we need to keep and what simply isn’t appropriate anymore. This could be relationships, behaviour patterns, habits, jobs, routines; anything which is holding us back from being the best that we can be. All of the planetary energy during this Moon is encouraging change and growth and bringing old wounds to the surface to be examined and released. Virgo strives to be the best she can be, seeking to purify and perfect in order to improve the self so we should use this time to go through some kind of purification process. We should cleanse and de-clutter, maybe by reorganising our homes, changing our diet, taking up a new form of exercise or adjusting our daily routine. Perfectionistic Virgo may make us more critical of ourselves than usual, but instead of dwelling on it and creating crisis it is far better to think of some realistic, practical ways of changing things. New Moons are the perfect time for setting new intentions and planting seeds! This is a busy time of year when the pace picks up dramatically and it is important that we tend to ourselves so that we can perform at an optimal level! It is also important to remember that everything is unfolding exactly as it should and that all will be revealed in due time.

Much love
