CANCER FULL MOON - 25 December 2015

Exact at 11.11am GMT, 6.11am EST!

Well, we have a Full Moon on Christmas day this year, which hasn’t occurred since 1977 and won’t happen again until 2034! A rare occurrence indeed! Not only that, but this particular Full Moon is in Cancer, the emotional water sign that relates to family, the home, childhood and our ancestral roots. How appropriate! As if this time of year isn’t emotional enough already! Full Moons tend to bring things to a head emotionally, and anything that may have been bubbling away under the surface since the New Moon comes rising up, illuminated by the light of the Moon. Very interesting for a day spent with loved ones and family; the people who know us best! It could be very easy for us to revert into a childlike state! The Moon actually rules Cancer, so it is a very natural place for her to be. It could definitely bring out our emotional, sensitive, domestic, nurturing side, which is quite appropriate for Christmas, as long as things don’t get too emotional! Cancer like to create a warm, cosy nest and a sense of belonging.

During this Full Moon the Sun is in responsible, disciplined and controlled Capricorn, sitting directly opposite the Moon in emotional, sentimental and nurturing Cancer. Cancer represents our inner world, our home life and our psyche while Capricorn represents success in the outer world. It makes sense that whatever happens in our childhood, positively or negatively, will have a direct bearing on how we carry ourselves in the external world. It can make or break us. The key to the Full Moon is to recognise how we might have veered too far in one direction and to find the balance between the energy of the two signs. With the South Node currently in Pisces we may tend to wallow in our victimhood and blame our childhood for anything that might not be working in our adult lives. This is true to a certain extent, because whatever happened in our childhood does then create unconscious emotional patterns that become blind spots and can have a sabotaging effect on our adult lives and relationships. At a certain point, however, we need to take responsibility for our emotions, letting go of the child and becoming an adult. Capricorn helps us to grow up and also to recognise that we actually chose our parents in order to learn certain important lessons that would help us grow on a soul level. With this awareness we then take back our power and the control over our own lives.

It is quite possible that our emotional patterns could come rising up to meet us during this Moon and we may have a chance to look back into the past and recognise where they came from. Cancer is quite a nostalgic sign, so we could have a few trips down memory lane while spending time with our families! If emotions come up, which they probably will, it is important to acknowledge them and recognise that they are amazing guides and can teach us a lot about ourselves. We don’t have to drown in them or react defensively, allowing them to rule us, but rather we should see them as our teachers. Capricorn teaches us self-control and encourages up to just “get on with it”, which is good as long as it doesn’t too far and lead to us suppressing our emotions. That can be equally damaging as it makes us internalise the feelings, which can affect our health and relationships. This Moon could give us a good opportunity to gain more understanding into our ancestral roots because often patterns, traits and karma are passed on, generation after generation, until someone manages to break the cord, thus healing the family line. When we work on ourselves and heal these inherited blind spots we send healing back through the family line and also help future generations.

There is another planet making itself known during this Moon which could make things interesting – Uranus, the Great Awakener and harbinger of change is turning direct a few hours later, having been retrograde since July 26. When planets station direct they stand still for a few days and their energy is at its strongest due to being closer to the earth. Uranus has a very erratic, electrical energy that can stir things up considerably, so this is definitely an interesting addition to the emotional nature of this Moon! It is quite likely that anything that has been suppressed or bottled up could come bursting out, which could be very liberating and enlightening at the same time as potentially quite upsetting. Uranus in Aries really wants us to be utterly authentic and really live our truth and as such some raw truths could be exposed that might bring emotional catharsis, but how freeing it is to have the truth out in the open! This is supported by a challenging aspect between Mars and Mercury, which could give us the courage to be honest with ourselves and others and say things that we would normally shy away from.

Uranus cannot abide comfortable ruts. He is the planet that blows away the cobwebs of our lives and creates sudden change that can be very uncomfortable and unsettling if we resist it. His presence during this Moon can help us to blast through any emotional patterns that may be holding us back and force us out of our comfort zones so that we can try something new on for size. Uranus will come fairly close to another square with Pluto (but not quite), so this is another opportunity to make sure that we are on the right path. We all know, deep inside, where we are not being true to ourselves and our journeys and this Moon could very well force us to own up to it. If we play it safe and resist whatever is needed for our growth then the chances are that it will happen anyway at some point. It is far better to ride the wave rather than being slapped in the face by one going the opposite direction! This Moon is a perfect opportunity to be brave and make positive changes in our lives.

The Sun and Moon are unaspected for the most part, meaning that the energy of Cancer and Capricorn is not influenced or changed by the energy of other planets. Neptune, however, is forming a positive aspect to both of the luminaries, bringing the potential for some unconditional love and having our higher hearts involved in the picture! Neptune will attune us to each other on a higher level and help us to connect from our hearts. If there is any planet we would want to have involved in this Full Moon, Neptune is the one! This will heighten our sense of compassion empathy and forgiveness and help us to act for the highest good of everyone, not just ourselves. It will also help us to trust each other with the more vulnerable, tender parts of ourselves. How beautiful! This is supported by a positive trine between Mercury and Jupiter which will help us to keep an eye on the bigger picture and maintain a sense of humour. It reminds us that anything that comes up during this time is ultimately for our highest good.

We are approaching the Winter Solstice, the longest night of the year and a time to go within and face our shadows. It is known as the dark night of our souls, from which springs the new spark of hope. A new cycle is now beginning and this Full Moon will certainly help us to let go of anything that no longer serves us. Cancer and Capricorn may prefer to play it safe, but Uranus has other ideas in mind! Instead of reacting emotionally or defensively, re-enacting our childlike tendencies and patterns, we should maybe take a step back and consciously react from a more mature, adult position. We are not responsible for how anybody else behaves, but we are responsible for ourselves. It is important that we act with integrity, from a place of authentic truth. It may be a bit uncomfortable initially, but what is it that Jesus said? “And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall set you free”.

Wishing you all a beautiful holiday season and see you in the New Year!

Much Love

SAGITTARIUS NEW MOON - 11 December 2015

Exact at 10.29am GMT, 5.29am EST.

Well, this New Moon seems to be pulling us in all sorts of different directions at the same time! New Moons are the quiet time of the month, when we turn inward and contemplate how we want to move forward. It is a time of endings, so we can begin anew as the Moon starts to grow again. Energy levels are generally lower when we are in the dark of the Moon and we need more sleep than at other times of the month. Not to mention that we are now moving towards the Winter Solstice in the Northern Hemisphere, which is the darkest time of the year.  It is time to turn inward.

The Sun and Moon are in Sagittarius, the sign of the traveller and seeker of truth and meaning in life. Sagittarius is the eternal optimist who has absolute faith that everything is going according to plan, even when it seems to all be going terribly wrong! Somehow even the most difficult of times afford us the opportunity for growth and learning. Uranus is forming a positive aspect to the Sun and Moon, indicating that this is a time to think outside of the box and see past limiting beliefs so that we can move forward and grow. Uranus offers us a different perspective, helping us break free of old patterns of self-judgement and sabotaging beliefs that we have picked up along the way from our parents or society. Sagittarius is a very opinionated sign, so it is quite likely that we may be surrounded by a multitude of opinions and people declaring the “truth” but we have to rise above it all and find our own. We all possess some of Sagittarius’s inner knowing, his intuition, his gut instinct, and this is most certainly the time to access that part of ourselves so that we have a sense of how to move forward. This is a very forward looking sign, so during this New Moon we must foster an optimistic outlook and faith in ourselves and the ultimate benevolence of the universe.

Saturn is currently in Sagittarius, however, which is raining on his parade somewhat! Saturn is the planet of limitation and boundaries, and has a tendency to shine the harsh light of reality on whatever sign he is currently in. In a very literal sense, Saturn is creating a lot of fear around the Sagittarian concept of travel in recent times, since the attacks in Paris. Fear seems to be darkening the landscape and squishing the Sagittarian principles of freedom and faith in a positive outcome. The Saturn/Neptune square is now waning but its energy lingers on in the form of strange fears, anxiety and even paranoia. It’s an interesting world we are living in right now and it is very hard not to have a certain sense of foreboding. Propaganda is rife right now. It is, however, important not to play into it all and allow ourselves to be held back through fear.  F.E.A.R - False Energies Appearing Real. Indeed, this could be a very good time to explore the concept of fear within ourselves and recognise how it can so easily rule our lives and the choices that we make.

As I mentioned in my last post, there is a battle going on at the moment, both globally and within ourselves, between fear and the illusion of separation versus One Love and the fact that we are all connected. It is also a battle between societal control versus the spiritual connection and ultimate love and trust between living beings.  It is very important that we keep the Sagittarian faith that somehow it is all going according to some master plan and that whatever is happening is for a very good reason that will reveal itself in due time. Sometimes things have to completely fall apart in order for something better to take their place. I must admit that I am starting to wonder exactly how far it has to go, however!

Jupiter is the ruler of this Full Moon and is part of a tense T-square involving the Sun/Moon conjunction and Chiron the Wounded Healer. This could definitely highlight how our negative beliefs can so easily create fear and lack of confidence which prevents us from moving forward. With Chiron involved, our old wounds, shame and insecurities could feel very acute indeed and could so easily bring up fear and anxiety within us. Optimistic Sagittarius has a bit of a struggle on his hands at the moment but I have no doubt that he shall prevail! This is a good opportunity to recognise how our old stories block us from realising our full potential. We may have to experience some discomfort in order to do this, as our vulnerable spots could be easily triggered, but it is amazing potential for some deep healing! We must remember to be kind and compassionate to ourselves and others, as we are all in this together, albeit we may be experiencing the energy in different ways.

This is where Neptune and Venus come in, as they are forming an exact trine to each other during this New Moon. This is the aspect of unconditional love. On the one hand we have Uranus, Pluto and Mars forming a tense T-square with each other, bringing the potential for an extremely unsettled and volatile atmosphere, while on the other hand we have Neptune and Venus helping us to open up to beautiful, cosmic connection with one another. Neptune is the higher octave of Venus, so together they help us to trust and open our hearts and to feel compassion and empathy for our fellow beings. The Pluto/Uranus/Mars T-square, however, is instigating massive shifts and profound transformation, both personally and collectively. Mars is the warrior planet who acts on our unconscious desires, and in aspect to Pluto, the planet of the soul, power and transformation and Uranus, the planet of revolution and sudden change, we could be experiencing some inner and outer turbulence!

This is a time of amazing soul growth, when we have a chance to break free of old, limiting patterns and beliefs that have long out grown their usefulness. Uranus’s involvement in this Moon brings the potential for us to challenge the status quo and find out where we stand versus what we have been told to think and believe. Jupiter is currently sitting on top of the North Node of the Moon, which means that we have a chance to make great strides with our soul growth, both personally and collectively. This could well involve us having to step outside of our comfort zones, beyond our fears and perceived limitations, towards something that is completely unfamiliar to us. As uncomfortable as change may be, if we don’t embrace it we don’t grow. We just stagnate. It is far better to instigate change ourselves rather than having it forced upon us. We all know, deep down, what needs to change, but it is the fear of the loss of a familiar sense of security that can so easily hold us back. And sooner or later, if we resist the tides of change, a massive tidal wave comes along and pulls us along anyway.

Possibly, during this Moon, we should have a good look at how we hold ourselves back. Sagittarius wants to shoot for the stars and truly believes that anything is possible. The only thing that holds us back is our own beliefs. These are turbulent times we are living in and there is a pervading sense of fear dominating the landscape, so this grants us an ideal opportunity to recognise how easily fear plays into our old wounds and insecurities and can change our whole outlook on life. We have a chance to break free of our cultural and parental conditioning and familiar patterns, but it could bring up a lot of old gunk, so it is very important that we are kind to ourselves. We are likely to be feeling very sensitive indeed during this process, so forgiveness and unconditional love for ourselves and others are very welcome and important ingredients indeed!

Much love

GEMINI FULL MOON - 25 November 2015

Exact at 10.44pm GMT, 5.44pm EST.

This particular Full Moon could involve a certain degree of information overload which could be a bit overwhelming and confusing for us, as we struggle to see the wood for the trees. Full Moons are a very emotional time in the month when things come to a head and whatever has been bubbling away behind the scenes erupts into our consciousness, illuminated by the light of the Moon. Whatever started around the time of the New Moon now comes to fruition, demanding conscious realisation. This month, the New Moon in Scorpio was incredibly dark and disturbing on a collective level, as the lower side of the Scorpio experience was brought to the fore in the form of violence, betrayal, death and destruction. Since that fateful day on the 13th of November, when so much violence and destruction occurred on this planet of ours, we have been struggling to make sense of all that happened and have also been dealing with the aftermath in the general and also social media.

This is where the Gemini Full Moon comes in. Gemini rules the media, among other things, and has a tendency towards information overload! Over the past couple of weeks we have been bombarded with information, opinions and ideas relating to the events of the 13th and this Moon could bring it all to a head. Gemini is very restless, curious and talkative, so this Moon could be very busy and even frantic and it could be difficult to switch our minds off. Sitting directly opposite the Gemini Moon is the Sagittarius Sun and we are urged to find some balance between the energy of the two signs. Sagittarius is the world traveller, and asks us to look at the bigger picture and see things from a wider perspective. While Gemini involves taking in indiscriminate amounts of information from sources outside of ourselves, Sagittarius asks us to take a step back and go within in order to truly understand what we are being told. Within all of us there is a deep well of wisdom, an inner knowing, based on our own experiences and also on our intuition; our sixth sense. During this Moon we are asked to separate the wheat from the chafe; to take in the information we are being bombarded with and find the truth. This is not a time to be narrow minded.

The Sabian symbol for the Moon at 5° Gemini  is “A revolutionary magazine asking for action.” This is a very evocative symbol considering all that is happening at the moment! Dane Rudyar says that this symbol represents “the explosive tendency of repressed feelings and root emotions” and further says that “what is rigidly bound in form and convention tends to explode into formlessness”. This symbol shows how all that we are seeing in the media is making it glaringly obvious what needs to change and what reforms are needed in society and the world. It is a call for revolution and for people to speak out and have their say. The Sabian Symbol for the Sun at 5° Sagittarius is “An old owl sits alone on the branch of a large tree.” There is much wisdom and peace in this image, and Dane Rudyar says this holds “the possibility of developing wisdom beyond tragedy, a peace and poise beyond conflict”. These two symbols sum up the energy of this Full Moon, because while one is very noisy, strong and active, the owl asks us to rise above it all and see beyond normal perception, beyond fear and the ego. It is important to be aware of the possibility of misinformation and to see past any propaganda, past what we are being told or shown, and connect with our hearts. All is not as it seems.

The Saturn Neptune square that has been slowly building over the last month or so is about to come to a peak and is very much a part of this Full Moon. Saturn is sitting right next to the Sun in Sagittarius, while Neptune is bearing down on both the Sun and the Moon, forming a T-square configuration. T-squares create tension and stress that lead to much needed change. Neptune is the planet of illusion and compounds the possibility of all not being as it would appear. We are being urged to fight through the Neptunian fog, past the smoke screens, and find the truth that resides in our hearts. All of the information we are taking in at this time could be very confusing and overwhelming and it may be very hard to separate truth from lies, fantasy from reality. Neptune is also forming a square to Mercury, the ruler of this Full Moon. As such, our minds could become a bit unclear and prone to deception. This combination can lead to faulty judgements and the tendency to lie to ourselves as well as being duped by others.

The struggle between Saturn and Neptune is acute at this point, as it is exact on the 29th of November. As the Full Moon peaks, so does the energy of the square. On one level it could be seen as a battle between the rigidity of religious conviction (Saturn in Sagittarius) and the sense that we are all one and all connected (Neptune in Pisces). Certainly the harsh light of reality is being pointed towards religion at the moment and it is very clear how social and religious conditioning as well as some clever propaganda can so easily create fear which leads intolerance, hatred and prejudice. What is real (Saturn) and what are lies (Neptune)? We are lead to believe that we are all separate, but that is an illusion because we all come from the same melting pot. What happens to one happens to us all, as Friday the 13th so clearly demonstrated. A homeopathic friend of mine sent me a message that day saying that it was bizarre - she had an inordinate amount of people calling up the homeopathic helpline suffering from extreme anxiety. Later on we discovered why. They were sensing the energy of the day. We are all connected.

The resolution to the T-square lies in the point opposite Neptune, as it completes the square. This point is in Virgo, the sign of discernment. Virgo asks that we separate the wheat from the chafe and decide what information we accept and what is simply fear based illusion. She asks that we leave behind the sense of being a helpless victim and find practical solutions. She prompts us to find a way to serve and help others in their hour of need. It is all very well feeling a sense of empathy and compassion for our fellow beings, but another thing altogether to find some concrete way of reaching out in the spirit of unconditional love. Mostly, however, Virgo could help us make sense of it all and decide what it real. She’s good at that.

The Sabian symbol for Neptune at 8° Pisces is “A girl blowing a bugle”, which represents “a call to participation in the service of the race, as an evolutionary crisis approaches.” This symbol speaks of the need to sound the call, to awaken people and make them aware of the reality of what is going on in the world. Dane Rudyar says of this symbol “A new race of human beings may well be slowly unfolding some of its potential of consciousness and fulfilment.” It is time for us to step up to the plate and also to see beyond fear and ego, like the wise owl. This symbol is resonant with the Gemini Moon symbol, as it awakens us all to the need for action. It is time to wake up. Those who are already awake need to help those who are still asleep to see and understand the truth. What has become exceedingly clear in the past couple of weeks is that we are dealing with a battle between fear based separation and One Love. Both have been equally present, as people’s compassion and empathy for human suffering has been awakened, partly by the awareness that it could so easily have been us. On the other hand, some people are allowing themselves to be played like puppets and are spewing ignorance, intolerance and hatred towards their fellow men and women.  Which will win this battle? With all of my heart, I pray that it is One Love.

And this, from Aquarian visionary Bob Marley:

One Love! One Heart!
Let's get together and feel all right.
Hear the children cryin' (One Love!);
Hear the children cryin' (One Heart!),
Sayin': give thanks and praise to the Lord and I will feel all right;
Sayin': let's get together and feel all right.

Let them all pass all their dirty remarks (One Love!);
There is one question I'd really love to ask (One Heart!):
Is there a place for the hopeless sinner,
Who has hurt all mankind just to save his own beliefs?

One Love! What about the one heart? One Heart!
What about - ? Let's get together and feel all right
As it was in the beginning (One Love!);
So shall it be in the end (One Heart!),
All right!
Give thanks and praise to the Lord and I will feel all right;
Let's get together and feel all right.
One more thing!

Let's get together to fight this Holy Armagiddyon (One Love!),
So when the Man comes there will be no, no doom (One Song!).
Have pity on those whose chances grows t'inner;
There ain't no hiding place from the Father of Creation.

Sayin': One Love! What about the One Heart? (One Heart!)
What about the - ? Let's get together and feel all right.
I'm pleadin' to mankind! (One Love!);
Oh, Lord! (One Heart) Wo-ooh!

Give thanks and praise to the Lord and I will feel all right;
Let's get together and feel all right.
Give thanks and praise to the Lord and I will feel all right;
Let's get together and feel all right.

Much Love

SCORPIO NEW MOON - 11 November 2015

Exact at 5.47pm GMT, 12.47pm EST.

Well, here we are, in the dark of the Moon in Scorpio, the sign that likes to plunge down into the deepest, darkest realms of our psyches and find what treasure is hidden below! The New Moon is a time of endings and beginnings, when we leave behind whatever isn’t serving us and set positive intentions for the month ahead. This is a particularly potent New Moon, because Scorpio season is a time of letting go; of releasing and purging so that we can be reborn, shiny and new, free of our psychic baggage. Indeed, we are being offered an opportunity to really confront ourselves and face some emotional truths rather than sweeping them under the carpet and pretending that all is well and we are perfect. Scorpio is a very karmic sign, so this is a perfect time for recognising and freeing ourselves from old, sabotaging patterns that have no place in our lives anymore. Like snakes shedding old skin.

Mercury, the planet of the mind and communication, is joining the Sun and Moon in Scorpio for this lunation, which will help us gain some penetrating insights into our psyches. This is a time for delving deep into our shadows, facing our fears and facing all that we would usually rather deny in ourselves. It is a time to recognise and admit our vulnerabilities, exposing our tender underbellies rather than putting on an act. It is not an easy process, but the rewards are great if we are willing to sit with our shadows rather than pushing them away and pretending they don’t exist. Issues of power and powerless could come to the surface now, and we could become very aware of where we hold on too tightly to control and where we give our power away. Scorpio is a deeply transforming sign and will push us to release anything that is holding us back from moving forward on our paths. The more we resist necessary and inevitable growth, the harder the lessons we will have to face.

Pluto, the ruler of this Moon, is forming a positive aspect to Mercury, doubling the potential for us to gain tremendous insight into our shadows and blind spots during this Moon. It would be a great time for therapy and soul work, because our minds will be better able to really get to the heart of the matter. Pluto is the planet of the soul, so we have a chance to think and speak from our deeper selves rather than glossing over or avoiding the truth of the matter. This is a time for emotional truth, whereby we have the opportunity to strip back and pare away the layers of superficiality until we are raw and exposed, but also very much relieved!

Jupiter, Uranus and Chiron are all forming aspects to the Sun and Moon, helping us to heal and free ourselves of our old patterns and psychic garbage! Uranus, the Great Awakener, will help us to face the unknown and release us from any past conditioning that is holding us prisoner. As he represents our long term memory he could cause us to suddenly remember things that we might have pushed to the back of our memory banks.  This could be a very insightful time, with many epiphanies. The truths that come out could shake us up a bit, but Uranus encourages us to be utterly ourselves rather than the persona we present to the world. In the meantime Chiron, the Wounded Healer, will help us to approach anything that comes up in the spirit of kindness and compassion, both for ourselves and others. We have a chance for some deep healing to occur here as we delve deep below and unearth some of our more buried wounds and insecurities. This is where Jupiter in Virgo comes in, because he is willing to do whatever work is necessary to make us more whole and bring us back into a state of balance. He reminds us that our mind, body and spirit are all connected, and so a malady or injury is often a sign of something much deeper than merely the physical and can reveal where we might be emotionally stuck or wounded.

In the meantime, the energy of Saturn/Neptune Square is building as the aspect grows ever closer to being exact on November 26th. Combined with the energy of this Scorpio New Moon, this has the potential to make us feel quite vulnerable, anxious and even sad or melancholy. We might find ourselves having no choice but to face realities we would rather deny and could also realise that what we thought was true is in fact not true at all. We might be made all too aware of our blind spots, those sabotaging parts of ourselves that we are utterly unaware of. This energy could make us a bit more prone to seeing the darker side of things during this Moon, so it is important to recognise the potential for depression and pessimism (Saturn) and for avoidance and playing the victim (Neptune). Certainly it could become very obvious where we are in denial and lying to ourselves. There’s no hiding from the truth during this Moon, methinks!

The Sabian symbol for this New Moon is very interesting and extremely powerful – “A woman draws away two dark curtains closing the entrance to a sacred pathway”. Dane Rudyar says of this symbol “Courage is needed to go through the veiling darkness – the courage to venture beyond the familiar and the traditionally known, to PLUNGE AHEAD INTO THE UNKNOWN.” If we are willing to face our fears, delving into the shadows and being willing to truly confront ourselves, we may be granted to ability to “see” and understand. This could also speak of drawing back the veil of illusion so that we can see the truth. There is a sense that it is our fears and ego (the dark curtains) that are stopping us from finding our way onto the sacred pathway (our soul’s path), but that it has been there all along. What we seek we already know. It is only our unwillingness to face ourselves that have prevented us from seeing it. It is exciting, as there is a sense that something will be revealed to us during this time that could really help us move forward on our soul’s path.  We just have to be willing to dive into the murky depths and find the hidden treasure that lies there waiting for us!

Much love

TAURUS FULL MOON - 27 October 2015

Exact at 12.05pm GMT, 7.05am EST

Venus is a very prominent feature during this Full Moon, as not only is she the ruler of Taurus but she is also forming many aspects to the other planets. The Libra New Moon on October 12th was also ruled by Venus so the relationship we have both with ourselves and others is definitely highlighted this month. Full Moons tend to bring anything into the light that may have been simmering below the surface recently. They make the unconscious conscious. This can sometimes mean that things have to come to a head in order to release any tension which may have been building either inside of us or within our relationships. As Venus is in Virgo at the moment there is the potential for a certain amount of crisis around this Moon, whereby we have to confront what might not be working in the realm of our relationships. Virgo can bring the guilt dynamic into play and also a strong need to address what might be out of balance in our relationships. She can all too easily see what’s wrong and has a powerful urge to improve whatever situation we may find ourselves in.

The Moon is in sensual, patient and loyal Taurus, Mother Earth, sitting directly opposite the Sun in intensely emotional, probing and psychic Scorpio and the Full Moon could highlight where we might be veering too far one direction. The key to resolution is to find balance between the energy of the two signs. Taurus shows what we value in life, including the value we place on ourselves. It also represents the skill and talents we have which help us survive in the world, so it is quite likely that issues of self-confidence, self-esteem and self-worth could come up during this Full Moon, especially as Venus is in self-critical and humble Virgo. Taurus is an incredibly patient and persistent sign and is also quite possessive and security conscious. Taken too far this can mean that we stay in situations too long for the sake of security, which creates stagnation and prevents necessary growth.  It can happen so easily, as human beings do find change so unsettling. None more so than Taurus!

Scorpio, on the other hand, will rip the ground out from under us and force us to walk over a burning bridge in order for us to grow and move forward on a soul level! The ruler of Scorpio is Pluto, the planet of metamorphosis and transformation, who cannot abide stagnation and will create situations which catapult us out of any comfortable ruts we might find ourselves in. Often we are given gentle signs along the way that show us what might need to change, but if we continue to ignore them and resist the tides of change and evolution then Scorpio steps in and does the job for us! The key to finding balance between the two signs lies in recognising where we might be holding on too tightly for the sake of security and to let go so that we can move forward and grow. We might find ourselves having to be brutally honest with ourselves and others, which always had the potential to hurt a little, but ultimately it will be very rewarding. It is so very easy to fall into patterns which simply repeat and repeat. This Moon will help us recognise them and make the necessary changes.

Chiron, the Wounded Healer, is also a very prominent part of this Moon, as he is forming an opposition to Mars, Jupiter and Venus and is also aspecting the Sun and Moon themselves. The opposition to Venus is also exact at the time of the Full Moon, which could cause a bit of crisis when it comes to our relationships and also the way we value ourselves. Old wounds, fears and insecurities could surface but it is a perfect opportunity to heal them as they come out into the light. We could become all too aware of our failings and where we don’t feel worthy or quite good enough. Indeed, we might feel quite uncomfortable during this time and we could be a bit more sensitive as our skins are a bit thinner than usual. We might trigger each other more easily as our sore spots may feel a bit more raw and exposed than usual. This is all good stuff, however, because it is much easier to heal things once they have been brought to the light of our conscious awareness, whether they be issues of self-worth or niggles within our relationships.

Speaking of skins being thinner, the Saturn Neptune square is still building and is also being activated by the Sun and Moon during this lunation. This square has the potential to dissolve boundaries and structures. It can also bring a crisis in faith.  Things that seemed so real become far less solid. Things that seemed ideal could become far more real. Beliefs we hold about ourselves could melt away, especially is they were set in stone. This is a battle between reality and fantasy, between fear and love, between fact and fiction, between structure and chaos. It is a strange time, for sure, but ultimately this square is here give us a kick up the bum so that we can grow. The potentially positive outcome is that we ground our dreams in reality and become more disciplined about our spirituality. Saturn represents mastery, while Neptune is the planet of unity and transcendence. One thing that I am quite excited about is the idea of rigid beliefs being dissolved. So many of us are held back by beliefs which were formed in childhood and which don’t serve us in any way!

Venus is forming aspects to the Sun, Moon, Mars, Jupiter, Uranus and Pluto during this Moon. That’s quite a crew! She is forming the third of three conjunctions this year with Mars, and this time the cosmic lovers are aligning in Virgo, the sign of modesty, organisation and discernment. Virgo does have a tendency to be a bit critical and we could find ourselves seeking to somehow perfect and purify our relationships. It is important not to play the Blame and Shame game, but rather to approach anything that comes up in the spirit of humility and a genuine desire to improve the relationship. Venus, from the Taurus perspective, represents our values and self-worth; the relationship we have with ourselves. This will be highlighted this week and with Uranus and Pluto involved we might experience a bit of a shake- up in this area. Our relationships and sense of security could be somewhat rattled and any patterns that may be impeding our growth will become glaringly obvious. If we are holding onto anything simply for the sake of security, whether it be a job, living situation or a relationship, we may be prompted to let go. It is important not to resist the tides of change, because that just makes it all so much more painful!

The Sabian Symbol for the Moon at 4°Taurus is “The pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.” This is a beautiful symbol, representing a bridge, or a link between the divine and the real world. Its energy reminds me of the Saturn Neptune square, as it could represent a need to discern (Virgo) between reality (Saturn) and illusion (Neptune). However, rainbows are truly magical sights and I definitely see this as a symbol of hope. We don’t get a rainbow without a bit of rain, however!  I suppose that the key is look within us for the pot of gold rather than chasing impossible dreams or seeking security from outside of ourselves. Dane Rudyar describes this symbol as “riches that come from linking the celestial and the earthly nature” which again brings the Saturn Neptune square to mind, with its potential to ground our dreams in reality and is the combination of the mundane world and the world of spirit. May we all recognise the pot of gold that lies within!

Much love

LIBRA NEW MOON - 12 / 13 October 2015

Monday October 12th, exact at 8.05pm EDT, Tuesday October 13th, exact at 1.05am BST.

This post almost didn’t get written due to Pluto and Uranus doing the rounds in my tummy first thing this morning, but I seem to have recovered enough to write a brief summary of this New Moon. In as much as I am capable of being brief! Tee hee! This is a good time to contemplate what we might want for our relationships and set some intentions for the month ahead. As with all intention setting, it is important to be specific about what we want, because the universe can take things quite literally, much like a child would! It takes us at our word! It is also important to be open to receiving and to believe that it is possible and that we deserve it. Otherwise we can so easily block our greatest wishes and desires. Whatever seeds we plant now have the potential to blossom and grow over the month ahead, so it is important that they are for our highest good.

This New Moon is in Libra, the sign of the scales. As such, this Moon could highlight where we need to find balance and equality in our lives, both in our relationships and in our lives in general. Libra is the sign of relating and so our relationships with others will most definitely be highlighted and it will be really obvious where our needs aren’t being met and vice versa. This New Moon is activating the Pluto Uranus square, which is very much waning but seems to be having its last stand with this Moon! This can mean that if our relationships aren’t serving our growth for whatever reason, or are causing us to stagnate, then they will experience considerable disruption.  It’s hard to hide from the truth when Pluto and Uranus are in town! If the scales have tipped to far in one direction or the other, we could be in for trouble!

This energy has a tendency to break things down so that we can experience amazing breakthroughs, but the experience isn’t exactly comfortable. It is so important that our relationships empower us to be completely and utterly who we are rather than holding us back from our souls’ path. The eclipses that have occurred on the Aries/Libra axis over the past couple of years have very much tested the validity of our relationships and many haven’t passed the test. This is a time in our evolution when we are being asked to do some profound inner work and to step up and realise our true potential. There is a reason that each and every one of us is here on this planet at this time and it is very important that our relationships don’t impede us from soul growth and evolution. Venus and Mars, the cosmic lovers, are also forming a loose conjunction in Virgo that will be exact around Halloween, so the emphasis is definitely on our relationships at the moment. Virgo can bring a great urge to improve how we relate to one another and can also highlight any sadomasochistic tendencies within our relationships, which of course can come in many different shades and colours and can be quite subtle and unconscious.

Chiron, the Wounded Healer, is also forming a niggling aspect to this Moon and when we combine this with the energy of Uranus and Pluto we have the potential for some shocks and surprises that could be quite painful and hit our sore spots. The truth can be so liberating, however, as it gets everything out in the open so that everyone knows where they stand. It is so important not to let grievances and gripes fester in our relationships, because what can so easily be dissolved by open, heartfelt and honest communication can grow and grow until it is blown completely out of proportion and comes out in hurtful and destructive ways. It is hard to say something that might hurt someone you love, but it is far more loving to be honest than build up resentment and strange energy and cause them to wonder what’s wrong. That does far more damage as it is so insidious. This Moon has the potential for some deep healing, even if it does cause a few upsets and disruptions in the meantime!

We have the Saturn Neptune square building now, which will be exact on November 25th so it will be an important fixture for the coming month. This aspect has the potential to burst some bubbles as Saturn shines the harsh light of reality on some of our fantasies, ideals, dreams and illusions. This can be a good thing if we are refusing to see the truth, but can also bring disillusionment or disappointment as we realise that what we thought was real was in fact not at all. In the same token, Neptune could dissolve any beliefs that we have held onto too rigidly, which could be quite revealing and enlightening! It’s amazing how our beliefs can colour our perception of reality, and what we believe about ourselves can really hold us back from being all that we are. Saturn could have a limiting effect on our dreams and visions, while Neptune could help us transcend our limitations! On a global level, One Love will be coming up against organised religion and inhibiting doctrines as Neptune reminds us that we are all one and represents unconditional Love, while Saturn tries to impose a rigid moral code on culture and society that is very restrictive and damaging.

The Sabian symbol for Venus, the ruler of this New Moon, is 4° Virgo – “Black and white children play together happily”. This is what Dane Rudyar says about this symbol: “The overcoming of socio-cultural prejudices.  Freedom from all the forms, biases and idiosyncrasies of the particular culture and class in which one has been born and educated is a sine qua non of the consciousness truly “on the Path.” The ideal of universal brotherhood underlies all great spiritual teachings, for they all are like branches of the One Tree, Man, in his divine state. This does not mean that there are no racial differences, but rather that these differences have a functional value in terms of the whole organism of Man – and the planet Earth. Every human being should be seen, approached and warmly met as a “child of God,” or in less religious terms as an exemplar of Man. Such a status gives to every social and interpersonal group the character of a BROTHERHOOD.”

Well, this seems to sum up the greatest potential of the Saturn Neptune square! Beautiful.  In true Libran style, I wish you all Peace and Love in the coming weeks!

Much Love

Exact at 10.50pm on Sunday EDT /exact at 3.50am on Monday BST.

This is certainly not your regular, run of the mill Full Moon, that’s for sure! It is a Supermoon and a Total Lunar Eclipse. Supermoons are closer to earth than normal moons, meaning that they have a much stronger effect on us. Lunar Eclipse herald change, especially in the realm of our relationships, and none more so than this one, as it is occurring on the relationship axis of Aries and Libra. There is an element of crisis attached to Lunar Eclipses, whereby we become aware of a great need or want, as well as a strong realisation of what might need to change in our lives. Whatever area of our life where we might be experiencing a feeling of discontent, or lack, is likely to come to the forefront of our consciousness at this time, and probably with a considerable sense of urgency. It will be hard to ignore. This is a time when one chapter is ending and another beginning, although it may take a while for it to become apparent what exactly it is. Change can of course be unsettling for us humans, but it is also absolutely necessary for growth. We have a chance here to let go of old patterns and take a massive step forward in our evolution, so it is important to be brave and not resist the tides of change!

During this Full Moon the Moon is in brave, instinctual and assertive Aries sitting directly opposite the Sun in fair-minded, diplomatic and peaceful Libra. As I said, this is the relationship axis. The Nodes of the Moon have been in Aries and Libra for the past couple of years, signifying a collective need to focus on finding balance and equality within our relationships. This Full Moon Eclipse will make it glaringly obvious where any problems lie within our relationships and where there might be an imbalance of the masculine and feminine principles in general. Aries is concerned with Self, while Libra is concerned with Other. On the positive side of things this brings a healthy dose of self-love (Aries), whereby each partner takes care of their own needs as well as listening to the needs of the other (Libra). On the other side of things it can mean only thinking of self (Aries) at the expense of the relationship (Libra). Relationships need to be a healthy balance between healthy assertion of our own needs and a consideration of what is needed to maintain a healthy relationship.

The Nodes of the Moon are being activated by this Eclipse, which means that we have the opportunity to take a giant step forward in our evolution, specifically in the realm of our relationships. Aries brings up a strong need for us to understand who we are and what we are here for, while Libra wants us to find a way to relate so that both partners are truly equal in every way. Obviously we all have our individual paths and calling in life, but when we enter into relationship we have signed an invisible contract that means that we now have another person walking along the path with us, so we need to make sure we bear them in mind before we make decisions that might affect them. Aries doesn’t hold back what he’s thinking or feeling and can be quite aggressive in the extreme, so don’t be surprised if this Full Moon brings up some quite heated, instinctual and even primal emotions. Any grievances we may have been holding onto could come spilling out in a somewhat irrational manner, which could upset the apple basket somewhat! Better out than in, however. It really is best to express what might be bothering us rather than letting it fester and create a divide that will only grow with time. Ideally it is best to find a way to say what we need to in a peaceful, open hearted way, because “attack and defend” is never really the way to go!

Mercury is also retrograde in Libra at the moment, adding to the mix. I will list the dates at the end of this post. Obviously the usual rules apply and we should be aware that miscommunications and misunderstandings can easily occur as well as travel plans and technology failing us in dramatic ways! Remember to maintain a sense of humour! However, there is more to the picture, as Mercury’s retrospective action gives us a chance to go back over things and rethink, or review. Libra rules relationships, equality, justice, harmony and peace. As such, we may find ourselves thinking about past relationships and realising things that we hadn’t considered before. We may be able to see our patterns more clearly; how the past has shaped them and how they repeat themselves. History is a great teacher! As Libra likes things to be fair and just, we may have a rethink about our current situation and become more aware of what isn’t fair somehow. This could apply to our relationships, our work, our living situation or the state of the world even. The Full Moon could well bring any feelings of injustice to a head, as this eclipse does make us all the more aware of what areas of our lives are out of whack and need to change.

The good news is that Saturn is forming a positive aspect to this Moon, which should help us stay grounded and a bit more in control. Saturn just left Scorpio and the last couple of weeks that he spent in the final degree of Scorpio brought a lot up for many. It was Saturn in Scorpio at its most intense and would have brought up fear, darkness and anything that we might prefer to brush under the carpet because it’s too painful to face. Our shadows came up to meet us and it was a difficult time for many. On the 17th of September, however, Saturn moved into Sagittarius, and so we are entering a new chapter, just to compound the sense of beginnings and endings that Eclipse season brings. Sagittarius is the sign of growth and expansion and Saturn in this optimistic and forward moving sign will make us think before we leap and make some realistic decisions based on common sense. If we find ourselves being held back or limited in any way it is probably for good reason that will reveal itself in good time.

Saturn could teach us that there is actually a certain freedom (Sagittarius) to responsibility and commitment (Saturn), although it wouldn’t necessarily seem so! Our beliefs and faith could become more defined and concrete during this time and we could gain a greater understanding of where we fit in to this universe of ours.  This combination could have us questioning organised religion more than ever, while at the same time being drawn back to the more ancient, traditional forms of spirituality, such as the old religions and their rituals. We might find ourselves taking a take a more disciplined approach to spirituality and working hard to develop a more concrete relationship with our higher selves.  With commitment and discipline we can develop our intuition even further. This is a great time to seek a mentor or enter into some form of higher learning. This energy is very different to Saturn in Scorpio, that’s for sure! The focus has shifted.

The Sabian symbol for the Moon at 5° Aries isA triangle with wings”. This holds the promise of us being able to transcend our current limitations and rise up to a new level of existence, both individually and collectively. The triangle is a symbol of the divine, showing how the union of male and female can create another entity in the form of the relationship itself, or indeed another being. Also, what might be possible if we manage to truly find a balance between the masculine and feminine; what beautiful third entity might that create? This Eclipse certainly has the potential to take us onto a new dimension, which is very exciting indeed! The Sabian Symbol for the midpoint between the Sun and Moon is very interesting and pertinent on a global level. “Indians on the warpath. While some men row a well-filled canoe, others in it perform a war dance.” Dane Rudyar says that this symbol “suggests that AGGRESSIVENESS may be a necessary ingredient in the activation of the potential of growth inherent in any social group.” It is quite possible that this Full Moon Eclipse could bring things to a head, but with good reason, as things most definitely need to change in this world of ours, including people’s attitudes. The Aries aggressiveness can be used to shift things in the right direction and help us rise up to a new level. Sometimes we have to fight (Aries) for peace (Libra).

The Symbol for the Sun at 5° Libra is “A man revealing to his students the foundation of an inner knowledge upon which a “New World” could be built”. This also brings the promise of a new way of being. These Eclipses certainly bring the sense of a major shift in consciousness and the beginning of a new chapter, which is very much needed at the moment, given the state of the world. It feels very much like we are at a turning point, when the principles of love and compassion need to lead the way and we let go of our patterns of greed and fear. A new way of being is being born and we really need to embrace it. Let’s find that beautiful balance between our inner Masculine and Feminine and honour our needs (Aries) as well as the needs of others (Libra).  I will end with one last Sabian symbol, as they are really speaking to me for this particular Moon! It is the symbol of Mars, the ruler of this Full Moon Eclipse, at 2° Virgo. “A large white cross dominates the landscape.” Hmmmm. This is a reminder that we must rise above our “ego-subjectivity” so that “compassion and understanding may rise from the depth of the innermost being”. These symbols are telling a story. This is a time to put ourselves in the shoes of others and truly open our hearts. Then we will be able to rise up to the next level.

Much love

Exact at 7.31am BST, 2.31am EDT!

This is a powerful New Moon indeed as it is also a Solar Eclipse, which has more far reaching effects than your average New Moon. Indeed, an Eclipse represents a profound time of change, when we experience the end of one chapter and the beginning of a new phase of development. We are being recalibrated over the next four weeks and will be receiving a consciousness upgrade that will take us onto the next level. It is very likely that we will experience considerable shifts in the coming weeks as we are raised up to a higher vibration, so it is important to remain as centred and aware as possible and also be gentle with ourselves.  Solar Eclipses are connected to the North Node, which represents where we are trying to get to on a soul level and what we need to experience in order to evolve and grow.  As such, this Moon has the capacity for us to let go of some old patterns that might be blocking us from growth. Indeed, the Sabian symbol for the North Node, at 2° Libra, is “The transmutation of the fruits of past experiences into the seed realisations of the forever creative spirit”. This is a powerful and beautiful symbol indeed!  What seems like a negative can easily be transformed into a positive if we are open and willing to do some inner work.

The Sun and Moon are forming their monthly union in humble, helpful and organised Virgo. As I said, this isn’t your average New Moon, because whatever starts now has the potential to last until the next set of Eclipses in about 6 months. Virgo is the sign of self-improvement and so we might feel the urge to create healthy routines for ourselves or hone our skills somehow so that we function and perform better in our lives. Virgo likes to take a holistic approach and to understand how the system works as a whole. This Moon brings the potential for some amazing healing to take place and Virgo reminds us that it is important to take care of all aspects of our health; mental, emotional, spiritual and physical, as it is all connected. Illness and dis-ease come from a lack of balance in our system and is rarely just physical. It has its roots in something far deeper than that.

I suppose the thing to watch out for during this time is the tendency to be hard on ourselves, as Virgo is known for being quite critical of self and others and can be overly perfectionistic. This is helpful on one level, as it can give us a kick up the bum and make us aware of what areas need improvement, but taken too far it can bring crisis in the form of anxiety, guilt and worry! It seems like this Moon might be offering us the opportunity to transform some old, worn out thought patterns and habits that were formed in the past so it is important to be mindful of how we sabotage ourselves with negative thinking and self-criticism. We all have the capacity to beat ourselves up on one level or another and now is a good time to be mindful of these tendencies. We can really hold ourselves back with these negative patterns and they are generally so ingrained that it is hard to become consciously aware of them.

Chiron in Pisces is directly opposite the Sun and Moon while Uranus in Aries is also forming an inconjunction to the lunations. This brings the potential for releasing some emotional blocks and experiencing deep healing. It may not be particularly comfortable, as it is likely that our close relationships will trigger old wounds and insecurities in us, but this is an amazing opportunity to bravely face ourselves and release ourselves from the chains of the past. We have a chance to break free of emotional patterns that hold us prisoner and create difficulties within our adult relationships. Chiron in Pisces reminds us to be kind to ourselves, treating ourselves and others with love, compassion, forgiveness and acceptance instead of playing the blame and shame game. It’s hard to be confronted with those parts of ourselves that we would much rather push under the carpet and pretend they don’t exist. Not comfortable at all, in fact, and it can be hard to be authentic and open hearted when we are triggered instead of defensive and closed down! Uranus is on the case, however, revealing the truth of the matter in no uncertain terms and giving us nowhere to hide. It’s time to be real with ourselves and one another. While we may experience certain shocks and shake ups, we will also be given some profound insight into our deepest wounds so that we can transmute them and move onto the next level.

The ruler of the Virgo Moon is Mercury in Libra, the sign of relating to others. Mercury will be stationing (slowing down) in preparation for going retrograde on the 18th, so he is a powerful energy right now. The planet of the mind and communication is also forming aspects to some of the heavyweight planets, namely Saturn, Uranus, Pluto and Chiron. That’s quite a crew! As such, it is quite likely that communication with our loved ones during this Moon could really get down to the nitty gritty and reveal the heart of the matter! Our thoughts and communication could be quite shocking and revelatory as we are being called to be very honest with ourselves and to speak from a place of truth. Saturn is in the very last degree of Scorpio right now and will be leaving the sign once and for all on the 18th, so this is the perfect time to delve deeply into our shadows and see what we can dredge up.

During this Moon we may find ourselves having some very truthful, soulful conversations that reveal our deepest fears and vulnerabilities and uncover the real issues in our relationships. While it may be hard to remain open, if we do we really have the potential to create a deeper level of intimacy and trust in our relationships. I suppose that we just have to make sure that we don’t dwell too much on the dark, as this combination of planets does hold the potential for compulsive worrying and obsessive thoughts. Don’t forget that we are in Virgo season, which creates a tendency for us to be quite hard on ourselves! Manipulation, depression, control and power plays are also a possibility here, but let’s try to keep this positive! We have the choice whether to be defensive and put walls up or to be open, and so much more healing can occur if we keep an open mind and heart and are able to face ourselves honestly.

I can’t emphasise enough what a powerful time this is and what amazing potential there is for deep healing and letting go of old, negative patterns that simply don’t serve us anymore. Uranus and Chiron are the biggest players in this Moon/Eclipse, which really bodes well for blasting through some blocks and release ourselves from the chains of the past and any pain and insecurity that might be holding us back from realising our full potential. The Sabian symbol of Uranus at 20° Aries  speaks volumes – “A young girl feeding birds in winter.” This speaks of “overcoming crises through compassion.” and “the transmutation of life into love”. There seems to be a lot of transmutation going on during this Moon! This symbol is a reminder of the power of love and compassion. Our patterns don’t have to weigh us down or hold us back if we are willing to look at them honestly and with compassion, forgiveness and acceptance. Once we do they start to lose their power over us.

We mustn't forget that this is an Eclipse, symbolising the end of one chapter and the beginning of a new one. What it is exactly will be revealed in time, but for now we need to simply be open and willing to face ourselves and do the inner work necessary to make the most of the energies of this Moon. Virgo isn’t afraid of hard work and it will definitely be worth the effort!  This eclipse could be seen as a portal into another way of being. This Moon is linked to the Eclipse in September 1997, so it might be interesting to think about what happened back then. This Eclipse may be a continuation of the same theme as 19 years ago, though taking it to the next level. This is a time of completion and we are being asked to step up to the next level of consciousness. It’s time to do the necessary work to let go of those patterns and move on to the next phase! Transmute, transmute!

Much love

PISCES FULL MOON - 29 August 2015

Exact at 7.35pm BST, 2.35pm EDT!

This Full Moon brings a lot of potential for truly connecting to one another from the heart. It is a Super Moon, so it is closer to the earth than your average Full Moon, which will amplify the effect it has on our minds, emotions, bodies and spirits. This Moon is building now and is asking us to open our hearts and allow ourselves to be seen for all that we truly are; our inner core. The combination of planets and aspects during this Moon really does create some beautifully loving, truthful, caring, opening energy for us to play with! This is an ideal time to do some healing or energy work, or to dance, sing, paint, create and express ourselves from a higher place. There is a certain softness to this Moon which has the capacity to dissolve any barriers we may have erected and remind us that we are all from the same melting pot. The Sabian symbol for the Moon at 7° Pisces is “Illumined by a shaft of light, a large cross lies on rocks surrounded by sea mist” This is a reminder for us to be stand in our truth (rock) despite any confusion surrounding us (mist) and if we do so we will know that we are guided from within. We will receive a blessing for being true to ourselves, as challenging as it may be sometimes.

The Moon is in sensitive, compassionate and intuitive Pisces and is sitting directly opposite the Sun in humble, helpful and organised Virgo. The key to theFull Moon is to find some balance between the energy of the two signs rather than leaning too far in either direction. The Virgo/Pisces polarity is the healing axis, although both signs approach health and healing from different perspectives. Virgo has a natural interest in the body and how it works as a system, while Pisces intuitively senses what is out of balance. We are now in Virgo season and so we experience that “Back to School” feeling, bringing a need for self-improvement and finding a healthy set of routines for ourselves. Virgo seeks to attain perfection and purity and can create a feeling of not quite being good enough and needing to “do better”. Out of crisis emerges a need to make constructive changes in our lives. Virgo comes after Leo, who is very confident and very much the king of the castle, and so in Virgo we experience the wind being taken out of our sails somewhat, causing us to eat humble pie and realise that maybe we are not that great and that we might still have some work to do on ourselves!

Pisces is the other side of the coin. While Virgo strives for perfection, Pisces knows that we are all perfect already. While Virgo likes to analyse and improve systems and details, Pisces intuitively grasps the whole. Both signs are devoted to serving others and Pisces will happily and all too naturally sacrifice herself to help those in need. Virgo can worry somewhat and cause us to be a bit hard on ourselves, while Pisces reminds us to let go and surrender, accepting what is. This Moon can really help us shift our consciousness and open our hearts, as it dissolves any sense of separateness between us and others so that we can really connect on a higher level. Any consciousness or energy work should bear great fruit this week and weekend and it is also a great time to meditate or access our imaginations and creativity. Pisces connects us to the world of spirit and transports us beyond the mundane world so that we can see things from a higher perspective.

Neptune, the ruler of Pisces, is also sitting right next to the Moon, creating a double whammy of the same flowing, intuitive, compassionate energy. Neptune will help us see one another for who we really are, beyond any smoke screens or defences that we put in place. During this Moon we really do have a chance to connect to each other’s spirits, our truth, our higher selves. We have a beautiful opportunity to rise above our stories and our patterns and to let go of any ego driven pettiness or barriers between ourselves and our loved ones. For we are not our patterns; we have put them put in place in order to protect ourselves, but they are not the truth of who we are. The Sabian symbol for the midpoint between the Sun and the Moon is 7° Sagittarius – “Cupid knocks at the door of the human heart”. This ties in with this Neptunian energy and brings a feeling that the barriers we have built for protection around our hearts being dissolved somehow. This Sabian symbol is described as bringing “Emotional Rebirth”. How beautiful!

It is very appropriate that the cosmic lovers, Venus and Mars, are also entwined during this Full Moon! They have joined together in creative, passionate and playful Leo, which will add to the creative potential of this Full Moon and help us to express ourselves with in our relationships. Leo rules the heart, so this also bodes well for open hearted communication within our relationships. Leo also represents our inner child and I can’t help visualising us shedding our “adult” skins, with all of their learned patterns, protection and defences, and standing in front of each other with the innocence and pure joy of little children. Children don’t hold back what they think or feel; they are trusting, yielding and loving. When it comes to standing in our truth and being utterly authentic, children are most definitely the best example of this!  Venus is coming to the end of her retrograde cycle now, during which we have experienced old patterns of relating come up for us to examine and let go of them. Pluto is forming a challenging aspect to Mars and Venus during this Moon, which could definitely bring some emotional truths to the surface and help us bare our souls and deepen our intimacy so that our relationships can shift and evolve. It might not be easy, but it will be worth it.

Mercury, the planet of the mind and communication, has just moved into Libra which definitely helps us along with all of this heart opening energy! Mercury has just come from Virgo, who has a tendency to pick things to pieces and is somewhat critical and fault-finding. Now it is time to find balance and approach our relationships in the spirit of harmony and compromise.  Libra automatically thinks of Other and truly wants peace and fairness, so this bodes well for our communication during this Moon. We should find it easy to listen and take in each other’s point of view.

There is a real sense of unconditional love and heart opening to this Moon! The Virgo energy makes us want to do better and Jupiter is sitting right next to the Virgo Sun so you should gain great joy and satisfaction from initiating projects to improve ourselves and our relationships. I suppose the only thing to watch out for is Jupiter exaggerating any tendency we might have to be hard on ourselves. Virgo is no stranger to guilt and shame! The Pisces/Neptune energy, however, reminds us to love unconditionally and to see beauty in one another’s flaws, rather than judging, blaming or shaming. As a wonderful, wise friend said to me recently, it is almost more important to love the clunky, awkward aspects of our loved ones, because they are the parts that need our love and compassion the most. Our barriers and defences merely serve as protection because of our early wounding and conditioning, and Neptune is here to dissolve them and allow us to really, truly see one another, in all of our truth, right to the core of our being. What a beautiful opportunity we have here!

Much love

LEO NEW MOON - 14 August 2015

Exact at 3.53pm BST, 10.53am EDT

This is a perfect moon to imagine what we want for ourselves and set some positive, heartfelt intentions. New Moons are a very powerful time of the month, ripe with potential for the coming weeks. As such, they are a perfect time to sow seeds for the month ahead, consciously contemplating what we need to leave behind in the dark of the moon and what we want for ourselves in order to blossom and grow. This New Moon has some real magic in it, as all New Moons do, but it also has the potential to throw up some resistance in us. There is no point setting positive intentions if part of us doesn’t feel worthy, or doesn’t believe they will happen, or we don’t feel like we deserve it. If we focus on what we don’t have then it will be hard to bring in what we truly want for ourselves. On an energetic level we block ourselves from our heart’s desires when we dwell on our fears. Instead we draw to us what we are most afraid of. This New Moon is an ideal time to practice having positive, hopeful, optimistic thoughts and to be very mindful of the negative, naysaying thoughts that pop in to thwart us. The universe really does want to give us what we want in order to grow and realise our full potential! It’s only our negative thought patterns that get in the way!

The Sun, our conscious will and purpose in life, and the Moon, our unconscious, instinctual awareness, are forming their monthly union in the creative, expressive and playful sign of Leo. Not only that, but retrograde Venus is joining in the party! Leo is a very creative sign encourages us to listen to our hearts; to follow our bliss and do what brings us joy. This is an ideal time to contemplate what we would like to bring into our lives and what is preventing us from truly finding joy and fulfilment. Leo represents the inner child that resides within, and it is important to pay attention to this part of us because it guides us well. Children naturally follow their bliss and have a very strong sense of what they like and don’t like. We can honour our inner child by recognising when  a situation or relationship makes us feel happy, joyful and excited versus making us have a feeling of dread or drag our heels, or zapping our energy. The joyful route is of course the way to go! We can, however, learn a great deal from the more negative emotions. This moon really is a time to honour our inner Leo by being playful and having some fun creating the reality that we would dearly love for ourselves.

Venus’s presence highlights our relationship to ourselves and others, our values, self-worth, self-esteem and attraction. In Leo it adds an element of fun to our relationships and helps us to consciously create the relationship that we truly want for ourselves, whether we are in one or not. Venus is the Yin principle and shows our capacity to attract love or wealth into our lives. Our relationship with ourselves is a very important factor here, because if we somehow don’t feel worthy or deserving of love or abundance then we will not attract what we so dearly want. Self-love is very important indeed; not the narcissistic kind, but rather honouring and being kind to ourselves, and recognising our worth and value. It’s not selfish, rather it is absolutely necessary. As we enter this new paradigm we are being asked to be true to ourselves and be utterly authentic within our relationships with others.  This involves making sure we do what feels right for us rather than what is the “right thing to do”. The is a big difference between the two.

This is where Uranus comes in. He is forming a positive and helpful aspect to the Sun, Moon and Venus, helping us to stand in our truth and also to make changes in our lives and relationships without it feeling too unsettling or turbulent. He helps us to free ourselves from the shackles of our past and to let go of the “ought to” or “should have” and just do what feels right for us in order to move forward and grow. He helps us release any blockages, in a gentle way, so that we can move beyond the bondage of parental or societal expectations and find out who and what we really, truly are. What would we do if there was absolutely nothing stopping us from having exactly what we wanted? What would we change? What would bring us our greatest joy and fulfilment? These are good questions to ponder during this New Moon. The truth is that we are the only ones holding us back from having all that we want in life, though our limiting beliefs and attitudes.

Speaking of which, Saturn in Scorpio is also rather a big part of this New Moon, as he is forming a challenging square to the Sun, Moon and Venus. This is where the resistance comes in. Saturn dipping back into Scorpio has forced us to revisit certain fears, shadows and patterns that hold us back from having all that we want in life. Saturn brings the reality check and makes us all too aware of our limitations and self-defeating patterns. Possibly there are things that we truly want for ourselves but are scared of what it might mean if we actually get them. Hence, we subconsciously hold ourselves back. Indeed, we all have many unconscious compulsions and patterns that sabotage us and keep us small. This is a great time to take a long hard look at ourselves and see where our resistance resides. Old, ingrained patterns are hard to shift because they are so unconscious, but this time of our lives is giving us an opportunity to do just that. Being consciously aware of how we sabotage ourselves is the key. What fears and old stories prevents us from fully and openly relating to our loved ones? What might we still need to let go of in order to reach our highest potential and find true joy?

There is one more key player in this New Moon, and that is Chiron the Wounded Healer. He is forming a nagging aspect to the Sun. Moon and Venus, causing certain fears, pain and insecurities to come to the surface. Again, this Moon seems to offer the opportunity to fully experience whatever old, negative emotional patterns that might be holding us back from finding our joy. It would probably be a good idea to truly embrace any emotions that come up as they offer useful information about where we are blocked from finding our joy and from having successful relationships. We may well find ourselves being triggered somewhat this week, which could bring up some pretty raw emotions. However, if we allow ourselves to fully dive into our feelings instead of just unconsciously reacting, they could offer us some real insight into their origin, which is usually based in childhood somewhere.  It is important to take responsibility for our somewhat messier emotions rather than lashing out and blaming others.

This moon offers many gifts if we are open to them! This is a perfect opportunity to become more aware of how we block ourselves from having we so dearly want for ourselves. It is time to let the old stories go and to simply have fun creating lives and relationships based on our heartfelt desires. Now we have the chance to follow the path of joy, but we can’t do that unless we recognise where and how we resist attracting all that we want in life. There is simply no point setting beautiful intentions if somewhere deep inside we don’t believe that we deserve them, or that they are possible for us! If we focus on our fears, that is exactly when we will attract! We have a chance to free ourselves of old ways of relating and embrace a new way of being that allows us to be completely and utterly ourselves and yet open and loving at the same time. These are exciting times! Out with the old, in with the new! We must remember that we really do have the ability to create our own reality, so it is important to keep our hearts open!

Exact at 11.42am BST, 1.42am EDT.

There is a certain amount of push and pull between sticking with what we know and venturing into uncharted territory with this Full Moon, as both Saturn and Uranus are quite prevalent. Uranus is the ruler of the Aquarius Full Moon and so this Moon is all about embracing change and releasing ourselves from comfortable yet unhealthy habits and situations. A lot of people have been going through change in recent times and this Moon represents a peak, where it all comes to a head so that it can be released. As I said, however, we also have Saturn playing a big part in this lunation and he is naturally more cautious and realistic than Uranus. Uranus urges us to step into the unknown in order to move forward and grow, while Saturn reminds us of our fears and limitations. Both have their place, but it is important to remember that we don’t get anywhere if we’re not willing to change.

The Moon is full in the innovative, humanitarian and eccentric sign of Aquarius and is sitting directly opposite the Sun in expressive, dynamic and creative Leo. It is Leo season, and the Sun is very comfortable in its own sign. During this Full Moon we are asked to find the balance between the energy of the two signs rather than swinging too far in either direction. Leo is very enthusiastic and wants us to shine brightly and fully express the truth of all that we are. In Leo we find our creative gifts and nurture our inner child. Indeed, there is something very playful about Leo, as we are encouraged to sing, dance, create and express all that we are! There is also, however, a tendency to think that the world revolves around them and in the extreme this can lead to narcissism. They are the star of the show and are not afraid to shine their lights brightly and proudly!

Aquarius, on the other hand, wants us to share our special and unique gifts with the world and to sing our song alongside one another rather than stealing the spotlight. In Aquarius everyone is equal and we all have our special part to play which contributes to the whole. Aquarius is sincerely authentic and isn’t afraid to be different or challenge the rules.  Indeed, he can be downright rebellious, unconventional and revolutionary! As I said, Uranus is the ruler of this Aquarius Moon and so this sign favours going against the grain of society and doing things his own way. Both Leo and Aquarius are quite wilful and want us to express our truth. This is where they definitely meet in the middle. Uranus is in Aries at the moment, so while Leo wants us to shine brightly and express who and what we are, Aquarius wants us to stand up and be counted and not be afraid of who and what we are. Shout it out from the rooftops! What unique and special role to we have to play in the world? What makes us stand out from the crowd? Now is not the time to be a wilting wallflower; it is time to allow ourselves to shine brightly and become the stars that we all are!

Uranus is the Great Awakener, the instigator of sudden change. He is the planet who shakes things up when they have become old, stale or stagnant, pushing us out of our comfort zones so that we can continue to grow and evolve. If we just played it safe and didn’t make any change for the whole of our lives then we wouldn’t grow at all! This Moon has the potential to bring a breath of fresh air into our lives and to blast through the cobwebs. We are being asked to step up and be counted for our special, unique natures, rather than just blindly following the rules dictated to us by our parents, schooling and society. It is time to do it our way! This could feel quite uncomfortable at first, as we are creatures of habit, but what a sense of liberation we will feel when we are able to quite simply be ourselves without all of the old habits we have been carrying around with us! We have a chance to break the chains of the past and create something new, forging the way for a life unlike anything we have known before! We can either do this consciously and willingly or else life will do it for us by creating situations which blast us out of our comfortable ruts and old ways of being, awakening us to our full potential.

Saturn, the planet of boundaries, responsibility, commitment and limitation, is very prevalent right now, however. He is currently standing still in the sky, getting ready to turn direct on the 1st of August, so his energy is very potent. Saturn has dipped back into Scorpio in recent times in order for us to clear up any unfinished business from Saturn’s stay in Scorpio from 2012 until 2015. We have been asked to confront ourselves again and recognise how we still hold ourselves back, and to face our deepest fears. We are more aware of these limitations and fears now, but they still linger. We now have an opportunity to face them once and for all so that they release the hold they have on us. During this Moon Saturn may shine the harsh light of reality on our relationships through a challenging square aspect to Venus. We may have to confront our fears of intimacy and recognise where we hold ourselves back from a deeper connection with our loved ones through our own fears and emotional conditioning. He is also challenging Jupiter in Leo, causing us to hold back somewhat and possibly have a crisis of faith. Jupiter in Leo is supremely confident, optimistic and open-hearted, while Saturn in Scorpio could cause us to hold back through fear. It is important to be brutally honest with ourselves about our shortcomings so that we have a chance of moving past these habits and patterns that hold us prisoner and prevent us from true happiness.

There could definitely be a push and a pull between our need for change and new life and our tendency to stick to what we know during this Full Moon. It is quite possible that it will be glaringly obvious where and how we hold ourselves back through fear and old, outworn habits. We are being asked to shine our lights brightly and step bravely into the truth of our being and it makes sense that as we do so we would have to confront our limitations and resistance to change. We wouldn’t be human if we didn’t feel some fear, but the key is for us not to let it rule or define us. We must take a leaf out of Leo’s book and remember to find the light, fun and joy in whatever situation we might find ourselves in. Following what brings us a greatest joy is usually a good way to go! Our fears are always so much worse than any reality we might actually face, and this is very important to remember. It is time to sing our songs without holding back and to share all that we are with the world. As we step into new territory is natural that we might look back, but we must step past any jitters and stride confidently towards the new way of being that awaits us. A life in which love and faith guide us and fear melts away.

 “If we wish to dance with the angels, it is not necessary to sprout wings or sign on for harp lessons. We simply need to become ourselves – to express our uniqueness, realise our own potential, consciously create our own reality – and have fun doing so….”
