PISCES FULL MOON – Thursday 19 September 2013

Exact at 12.13pm BST, 7.13am EDT!

This is an incredibly potent Full Moon with a lot of powerful, karmic energy attached to it. Pisces is a very flowing, compassionate and sensitive sign that should allow for a gentle, wistful and compassionate Full Moon which allow feelings to flow easily.  There is also however a lot of heavy, testing, transformational planetary energy to contend with which adds considerable weight and gravity to the whole picture. Full Moons are a time of emotional climax, when whatever might have been bubbling below the surface comes up to be dealt with under the light of the Moon. As the tides swell so do our emotions and whatever may have been building over the course of the month tends to play out within our close relationships as the Moon reaches its peak. This Full Moon involves a lot of planets in emotional, sensitive water signs, which seems to have been the overall theme of this year! We are being asked to connect with our intuitive, nurturing, feminine nature and honour our feelings and finer instincts. This particular Full Moon might force us to have a long hard look at ourselves and confront parts of ourselves which we may previously have preferred to sweep under the carpet hoping that if we do they will disappear! We are now asked to peel back the carpet and show ourselves as we really are, moving past fears and being brave and truthful which will ultimately deepen our connection to others and help us move forward on our path. It is nowhere we have been before but is the gateway to all that we are.

The Moon is full in intuitive, sensitive and compassionate Pisces and is sitting directly opposite the analytical, health-conscious and humble Virgo Sun. The key to a Full Moon is to somehow find the balance between the two signs involved. They are essentially two sides of the same coin and in the case of Virgo and Pisces we are dealing with the healing axis. They may have two different approaches to healing but their aim is the same; to help people and make them feel better. We are drawing to the end of Virgo season, when we establish healthy routines and think about what we need to do to improve ourselves. Virgo is very aware of the body and how it functions which in the extreme can lead to hypochondria. She is interested in how each part works and likes to take things apart and put them back together again so they perform better. She has a genuine desire to useful and gains a great deal of personal satisfaction from helping people improve themselves. She has a natural gift for deciding what is useful and what has no purpose. She can get a little too caught up in details however and forget to look at the big picture and while her main aim is purification she can easily become overly perfectionistic and nitpicky.

This is where Pisces comes in! Pisces can easily see the whole picture and often can’t be bothered with the small details. Pisces understands on a very deep level that we are one; that we are all connected and come from the same melting pot. What happens to one happens to all. This makes her tremendously empathetic for she feels other people’s pain as acutely is if it were her own. Pisces truly knows how to surrender and go with the flow of life which in the extreme can mean that she embodies victim energy and is at the mercy of her experiences rather than being the master of her own destiny. She is incredibly imaginative and does actually have a very special superpower; the ability to create her reality though her own thoughts. Her imagination can at times run wild however and create fears which aren’t real. She may also find it hard to differentiate between fantasy and reality because illusion is a big part of the Pisces experience and she does have a tendency to wear rose tinted spectacles! Escapism, in the form of excess sleep, overeating, drugs, alcohol, reading, films, computer games, is also a trait of Pisces. It helps her to pour a blanket over her pain and transcend reality which can at times be too much for her sensitive nature. Our escapist tendencies may well come out in the build-up to this full moon but it would be much better to consciously face that which we fear and surrender and ride the wave, so to speak. We must let our feelings flow and remember that we are all in this together so we must be kind and compassionate and lend a hand if someone else needs it and also not be afraid to admit when we need help. That is the best of Pisces. We are not victims, but are the co-creators of our reality.

This Full Moon is likely to affect us on a very deep level as Saturn and the North Node of the Moon have finally reached their conjunction in Scorpio while Venus has now caught up with them and joined in the party! This makes me think that we might have to face some uncomfortable truths and bring some things out into the open that we would rather not deal with. Deal with them we must however, for this seems to be a good time for unearthing our deepest, darkest secrets and to shine the harsh light of reality on our lives and relationships. Saturn is testing us in the realm of all things Scorpio in order for us to move forward on our path. We are venturing into unchartered territory and that involves shedding more of what no longer works for us and finding a new way of doing things. Scorpio is a deeply emotional and intense sign and urges us to let go and trust, peeling away lies we have told ourselves and others and acknowledging the parts of ourselves that we would rather people didn’t know about. Scorpio demands emotional honesty and invites us to experience the intimacy that comes from allowing ourselves to open us and be truly vulnerable. If we are brave enough to take responsibility for whatever it is that lurks below the surface and consciously work through it then we have the potential to have some amazing breakthroughs during this Moon! If we suppress our fears and vulnerabilities instead of facing them they have the potential to come out in ways which are more destructive and unhealthy, such as rage, jealousy, physical ailments, blame or shame. This is a very karmic time indeed where we are likely to reap what we have sowed and have an opportunity to move forward and evolve spiritually, but not without having a long, hard look at ourselves first!

Venus, the planet of love, attraction and values is very much involved in this Full Moon chart which makes me think that all of this intense, karmic energy will play out in the realm of our intimate relationships. Venus combined with Saturn and the North Node in Scorpio calls for complete emotional honesty, as painful or embarrassing as that may be. People from the past make pop back up and new people may enter our lives with whom we have karmic ties.  They all have something to teach us. We are being asked to allow our true selves show so that we can experience a level of intimacy the likes of which we have never experienced before. If we can show our true feelings and not hide from them or be afraid of what people might think then we can take our relationships to a much deeper level. This is a time of reckoning, when we allow the bare, naked truth of who we are to be revealed and confront any problems we may have in our relationships instead of hiding from them. Pluto is supporting Venus during this Moon, bringing the possibility of soul connections, deep intimacy, primal emotions, intense physical love and profound, soulful attractions. Chiron in Pisces is shining a beautiful, healing light on the Venus, Saturn and North Node conjunction, bringing the promise of deep healing if we are willing to do the necessary work on ourselves in a fully conscious way. It seems like this could be a really good time for healing and soul work, as Chiron, the wounded healer, is a very supportive presence in this chart.

Pluto, the ruler of Scorpio, turns direct the day after the moon is full which will increase his potency considerably. When a planet turns direct it is at its closest to the earth which makes its energy much more powerful. Pluto is the planet of transformation and detoxification who destroys anything that isn’t working in order for something new to be born in its place. In Capricorn he has been tearing down structures both in our personal lives and within society, exposing the rot and forcing us to move forward with integrity. As Pluto turns direct more may come to light in order to be destroyed, especially as he is currently forming the last of the three sextiles with Saturn over the last year. This aspect forces us to see things as they really are and understand clearly what needs to change. Saturn then gives us the discipline, hard work and strength needed to actually make the changes. This is certainly a time to look at the cold, stark reality of whatever we are facing and just deal with it, because anything we ignore or avoid will hurt us much more than consciously facing it. We have an opportunity to clear some unwanted emotional debris away and also clear some karma; we just have to be willing to put in some work and effort.

This is a time of reckoning, when we are being forced to confront anything that may be holding us back from a deeper connection with ourselves and others. We do this by facing our fears and confronting those parts of ourselves that we really would prefer to leave under the carpet. If we leave them there we are denying a part of who we are, thus preventing true emotional honesty and the vulnerability that comes with it. This helps us to take our relationships on to the next level, deepening our intimacy while propelling us forward on our journeys. We are embarking into unchartered territory, but the old way wasn’t working for us anyway so we must take the plunge and try something else out for size. We are being called to take responsibility for all that we are and take a step forward in our evolution. This might feel a bit scary and the Pisces Moon might make us feel like escaping somehow, but while we might feel a bit overwhelmed and hopeless at times we must embrace the best of Pisces and surrender to the flow, trusting that we can ride the wave no matter where it takes us. We all feel pain sometimes and have all done things we are not proud of. No-one is exempt from this. During this Moon we must allow the feelings to flow and remember that we are all in this together, treating each other with loving kindness and compassion. This is a very significant time, when we reap what we have sowed, so it is very important that we be gentle with ourselves and others. Pisces wouldn’t have it any other way!

Much love

Amy
