VIRGO FULL MOON - 18 March 2022
Exact at 7.17am UK time (GMT)
This Full Moon has the potential to bring things to a head and bring about some kind of transformation or shift. Virgo is the sign that represents crisis, which can actually be quite helpful because it forces us to find a way of solving the problem and improving our situation. Sometimes things have to become so uncomfortable or intolerable that we have no choice but to do something about it! It is either that or we just collapse in a heap, paralysed and incapable of acting because whatever “mountain” we are facing seems insurmountable. This Moon could remind us simply to put one step in front of the other rather than thinking that we have to tackle the entire mountain at once! There is some challenging planetary energy around for this Full Moon, but there is also some incredibly beautiful energy to counterbalance it. Ultimately there is the potential for some profound healing, although sometimes things have to get worse to get better.
The Sun is still in Pisces, until 20 March, and during this Moon it is sitting right next to Neptune, Pisces ruler. This gives us a double dose of the sensitive, compassionate, ego-dissolving Pisces energy, which could open our hearts and bring a greater sense of connection, but also has the potential to make us feel very sensitive, open, vulnerable and overwhelmed. The Sun and Neptune are sitting directly opposite the Virgo Moon, so we are invited to find some balance between the energy of the two signs instead of veering too far in one direction or the other. Virgo is the part of us that tends to be quite hard on ourselves, tending towards perfectionism, feelings of inadequacy and self-criticism. Pisces, however, invites us to find a greater sense of self-acceptance, forgiving ourselves for our shortcomings and realising that it is ok not to be perfect. In fact, there is beauty in our imperfection!
As I mentioned, Virgo can bring about some kind of crisis that must be faced and can provide a gateway or opening for something truly amazing and profound to occur. It is that moment when things are at their most dire that our inner Pisces steps in, so that we “fall to our knees” and call out to the divine for some kind of help, guidance or inspiration. Indeed, crises can bring about spiritual awakenings and set us back on the right path if we have strayed off it in some way. When we are on our knees, not knowing what way to turn, there is the potential for us to simply let go, to surrender and for our hearts to crack open. It is also during the most difficult and challenging times that we can be the most tender, compassionate, caring and compassionate. This is certainly showing itself in the current global situation, as the crisis is having a unifying effect on much of the world, igniting our compassion for the suffering of others, as many join together to pray for world peace.
Jupiter is now moving towards Neptune, as they will be joining together in a conjunction that will be building in strength over the next month or so, exact on 12 April. On the one hand this brings the potential for such open-hearted connection, compassion, openness to spirit, empathy, tenderness, hope, trust and faith. Jupiter can expand the energy of Neptune and Pisces, bringing about greater sensitivity to the plights of others and a sense of flow, with the potential for amazing synchronicity to occur. However, it also brings the possibility for people feeling very vulnerable, over-sensitive, tender and overwhelmed, as if we are at the mercy of forces that are much larger than us. As such, it is important to keep an eye on one another during the next month or so, being kind to ourselves and others and being aware that people’s mental and spiritual health could be a bit wobbly.
Jupiter has a tendency to magnify or exaggerate the energy of the sign it is in and the planet it is joining forces with, so we could find that propaganda is even more rife than usual, as if a fog has somehow descended, making it very hard indeed to find the truth. Neptune and Pisces always bring the potential for illusion, smoke screens and confusion, not to mention hypnosis, subliminal messaging, enchantments and spell-casting. All may not be as it appears to be, so it is important to be aware that appears to be real could in fact be an illusion. In the same token it could also become more apparent that separation is an illusion! What happens to one happens to all. Neptune dissolves boundaries, making us aware that we are not as different as we might be. We are all spiritual beings having a human experience.
We must also be aware that people who are naturally sensitive and “open” to spirit may be even more so during this time, making it hard to cope. However, this conjunction can also be so very beautiful, bringing about some kind of spiritual awakening and opening our hearts and bringing us together with a feeling of unity. We must never underestimate the power of the collective. If enough people join together with pure hearts in prayer and positive intention, it is truly amazing what can happen. We are more powerful than we know when we join together in unison, sending out our wishes, prayers and intentions to create a better world. It will be very interesting to see what the next few weeks bring about. It should certainly bring about an increase in empathy, kindness and understanding.
Pluto is forming a helpful, harmonious and supportive aspect to the Sun and Moon, bringing the possibility for some kind of transformation to occur. Pluto is coming very close to the end of its stay in Capricorn, the sign of societal structures, authority, control, government and the patriarchal system. Since 2008 it has been slowly but surely exposing the rot , flaws and corruption within the power structures, revealing the dark underbelly of the patriarchal system and showing up what simply isn’t working anymore. With Pluto so present during this Moon, more could come to light and we could become all the more aware of how damaging the lust for power, domination and control can be and how archaic and antiquated this way of being is. The patriarchal system is crumbling, but it is not going down without a fight. It is always darkest just before dawn. The North Node of Pluto is currently in Cancer, calling us towards a more matriarchal way of being, based on the feminine principles of caring, nurturing and finding solutions that do not involve war or dominance. The old order is crumbling. It is obsolete. There is another way.
On a more personal level, Capricorn represents our career and the work we do in the outer world. Since 2008 many of us have had a Plutonian transformation of our careers so that what we do is more in alignment with our soul purpose. Pluto in Capricorn can bring about a metamorphosis of the structure of our lives, which has become very apparent in the past couple of years, as things have changed so much, including our priorities. As the old, obsolete, patriarchal structures crumble, so too does the structure of our own lives. This Moon has the potential to bring about some kind of inner crisis that forces us to evaluate what needs to change in our career/work life, inviting us to be truly honest with ourselves about what we are here to do in the world.
Anyone with personal planets or angles around 28° of a sign will feel the powerful, soulful, transforming power of Pluto most acutely, especially in the Cardinal signs of Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn. Those of us with personal planets or angles around 27° of the mutable signs of Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius and Pisces will be feeling the energy of this Full Moon most strongly.
Uranus is very present during this Moon, as it is forming a dynamic square aspect to Venus and Mars, which are also in Aquarius, the sign that Uranus rules. Uranus will exactly square Venus on the 19th, the day after the Full Moon, which could bring some kind of economic financial shock, curve ball or wake-up all, either personally or collectively, or both. Similarly, we could experience some kind of shock or surprise within our relationships, as we may be called to allow a greater sense of freedom and authenticity in the way we relate. What kind of relationship are we really, truly suited to, if we are completely and utterly honest with ourselves?
Uranus exactly squares Mars on Tuesday 22 March, bringing the potential for sudden and shocking acts of violence and/or aggression, economic war, acts of rebellion and having no choice but to find the courage to step outside of the comfort zone and do things differently. On a personal level it is important to be aware that we may feel more rebellious, willful, irritable or easily angered, especially those of us with personal planets or angles around 12° of a sign. The Fixed signs will feel this volatile and unpredictable energy the most acutely, however - Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius.
The Sabian Symbol for this Full Moon, at 28° Virgo, is: “ A bald-headed man who has seized power”, which Dane Rudyar describes as “The sheer power of personality in times that call for a decision. Whether at a religious or at the socio-political and cultural level, there comes a time when obsolescent patterns of order and cultural refinement, have to be radically and relentlessly challenged. Catabolic personages emerge to seize power and dictate decisions that alter the structure of society; or within an individual life, an intense urge for cathartic changes mobilises the will, and traumatic decision are made. At such times, the issue has to be met and, ruthlessly as the power may appear, it must be accepted. With this symbol we face the unpostponable necessity for decision and transformation. Existence is motion. No static formation, however beautiful and inspiring, can remain long unchallenged. Everything bows to THE POWER OF THE WILL – divine, executively human, or Satanic.”
This is a powerful symbol indeed, especially considering all that is happening in the world. It certainly seems to mirror the other planetary energies that are around during this Moon, especially the powerful presence of Pluto in Capricorn. While the Moon certainly brings the potential for some kind of crisis that could force us to come up with solutions, Virgo and Pisces also bring a wonderful opportunity for healing. Pluto could help us to make important soul choices that come from a place of deep emotional honesty, while Virgo invites us to use its greatest superpower - the art of discernment. We are encouraged to separate the wheat from the chaff, letting go of anything that is toxic, unhealthy, obsolete and simply not serving us. This Moon could bring about a powerful purification that is not necessarily comfortable but which could help us to move forward with a lighter step.
Much Love
Amy
