PISCES FULL MOON - 2 September 2020

Exact at 6.21am BST, 1.21 EDT

This Full Moon definitely has some contradictory energy, as the Moon itself is in sensitive, impressionable Pisces while Saturn and Pluto are also playing rather a big role in the overall picture. With the Sun in humble, analytical, service oriented Virgo sitting directly opposite the Moon in empathetic, imaginative and spiritual Pisces, the healing axis is activated. We are now in Virgo season, the sign of work, health and self-improvement, and there is definitely an air of “back to school” as people and businesses seek to function and get back into a more structured routine. However, the danger with Virgo is becoming so busy that we go into overwhelm. Virgo is that part of us that over stresses ourselves with work and general “busyness” in an attempt to fill a void that only Pisces, the sign of spirit, can really fill. This Moon reminds us to focus on developing healthy spiritual routines such as making sure we spend time in nature, meditation, yoga, Qi Gong and suchlike in order to cope with the stress of every day living. This can help to balance and centre and prevent us from going into overwhelm in the face of all the uncertainty and challenges we are dealing with in this current reality.

The Sabian Symbol for this Full Moon, at 11° Pisces, is “ Men travelling a narrow path, seeking illumination”, which Dane Rudyar describes as “ The capacity inherent in every individual to seek, at whatever cost, entrance to a transcendent realm of reality. The Path is always open to the pure in heart, the mentally aware, the conqueror of emotions and the spiritually self-mobilised. Man is always in the making and remaking. He can always go further, reach beyond. But he has to take the first step. Someone can show him the Path, but he alone can do the walking.” This is a reminder to persevere in our own search for the truth, whatever that means to us. We are reminded to stay true to ourselves and keep the faith that we are held. We are all ultimately heading in the same direction, but the path we choose to take may differ. However, only we can do the work on ourselves that is necessary to grow and evolve spiritually, as nobody else can do it for us. There is no “shortcut”! This Moon is a reminder to stay true to the path we are on and do what we can to remain healthy in mind, body and spirit. This is so important right now.

Indeed, Virgo is the sign of healthy routines, while Pisces is the sign that encourages us to develop a direct personal relationship with the divine. We are asked to find a nice balance between the tenergy of the two signs. Virgo is the part of us that seeks perfection and can be incredibly self-critical, analytical and hyper aware of our flaws and inadequacies, so much so that we either paralyse ourselves with negative thinking and give up before we even start or seek a way to improve our situation and overcome  seemingly insurmountable obstacles. Pisces is the part of us that has the capacity to simply surrender to flow and find true acceptance and compassion for ourselves, warts and all, and to develop the faith and trust that we are being guided in the right direction. However, we can also fall in being the victim, which is never helpful. In times of crisis it is so very important to remember to do whatever we can to stay connected and centred. The simple act of breathing deeply,  walking barefoot in the grass or going for a walk in the woods can bring us back to a feeling of peace and connection to spirit.

The rulers of the Sun and Moon, Mercury and Neptune, are both in their own signs of Virgo and Pisces and both square the Nodes of the Moon during this Full Moon, which is very interesting. With the South Node currently  in Sagittarius and North Node in Gemini we are being encouraged to keep an open mind and not become too rigid or stuck in our beliefs. There are many paths to the same destination! The truth is so hard to find at the moment that all we can do is trust our own intuitive hunches and do our own research to find the facts. The Gemini North Node encourages us to find a voice and to express our truth is a way that is palatable and understandable for others. With Neptune square the Nodes the truth is completely shrouded and the potential for illusion and smoke screens is rife. It’s so hard to tell the woods for the trees, and many are very who are very confused about what to believe. However, we are encouraged to feel and show compassion for one another, regardless of what we each think and believe.

This is where Mercury in Virgo comes in, as we are encouraged to practice the art of discrimination and discernment in deciding what to accept and what to discard because it is not serving us. This also goes for self-limiting beliefs that are simply not helping us move forward.  Mercury in Virgo can bring a lot of self-critical thoughts and the tendency to pick ourselves and others to pieces. Instead of worrying too much and going into overwhelm or a spiral of negative thinking or self-sabotage, we are encouraged to separate the wheat from the chaff and decide what messages, “truths” or belief s we accept and what we must reject. One step at a time! Mercury in Virgo is very good at self-analysis, as long as it doesn’t turn into self-flagellation! Luckily Mercury is helped out by a harmonious aspect to both Saturn and Pluto, helping us to think sensibly and realistically  and to probe beneath the surface to find the answers. We could gain some powerful insights in the coming days and make some important decisions.

Uranus is forming a harmonious aspect to the Sun and Moon, bringing the capacity to make change in our lives and break any unhealthy, toxic, self-destructive or sabotaging habits and patterns of behaviour. With Uranus in Taurus we are currently undergoing a radical shift in values, as what used to hold meaning for us no longer seems important. As this shift occurs we are encouraged to make changes in our daily routine and the way we approach our health and work life. The gift of recent times has been the giant “pause” that forced us off the treadmill and helped us see another way of living and being. We were given a chance to recognise what is most important to us, when it comes down to it, and this Moon encourages us to apply what we have learned moving forward. With Chiron forming a nagging inconjunct aspect to the Sun and Moon, there lies the potential for some kind of crisis if we don’t heed our inner guidance in terms of our mental, emotional and spiritual health. It is better to make the necessary adjustments voluntarily, before we are given no choice.

Saturn and Pluto in Capricorn are rather big players during this Moon, as they are forming an aspect to quite a few planets. This includes forming a Cardinal Grand Square with Mars, Venus and Juno, the goddess of committed partnership. Saturn will be directly opposite Venus on the day of the Full Moon, which could call our relationships into question, calling us to be more accountable and to take responsibility for whatever difficulties we may be having. We may experience feelings of frustration and a sense of limitation in the realm of relationships and finances, and may have to contend with issues around control, anger, assertion and self-worth. We may be forced to look at the way we approach our relationships, values and finances in a very realistic way and take off the rose tinted spectacles, as Saturn does tend to peel back the veil of illusion and force us to see things as they really are.

Saturn and Pluto are currently working as a team, tearing down the structures of our lives and forcing a societal and personal transformation as anything that is “rotten” is exposed for what it is and has no choice but to fall away. This is a painful but necessary process. With these two joining together until mid October thinks could get darker before we are able to see the light. Saturn will move into Aquarius in December, as will Jupiter, which will signify a shift towards the progressive, unorthodox, visionary, humanitarian energy of Aquarius. However, Pluto must continue the work it began in 2008, of exposing the darkness within our power structures and bringing a detoxification and destruction of corrupt and antiquated systems and governing bodies that are simply no longer working in our best interest. It seems quite possible that we will experience a complete collapse of the “system” so that something more aligned with higher values can take its place. Pluto will finally move into Aquarius in March 2023, so we still have some work ahead of us until then, to purge the shadows.

It seems that our relationships are very much being called in focus during this Moon with this Grand Square, as it will be harder to hide from any underlying issues or problems we may be having. Pluto will be opposite Venus over the coming days, exact on Sunday 30 August, and the energy will still be present during the Full Moon. This could bring up any compulsive tendencies in the way we relate, making us more aware of the subconscious psychological complexes and power plays that play out within our relationships. This a great opportunity to look into the ugly mirror and recognise our shadows and also to become aware of any toxicity within our close relationships. That is the beauty of close relationships, as they can help us to see ourselves and our shadow material more clearly, even if we don’t like what we see. This does seem like a good opportunity to transform our relationship to ourselves and others, not to mention the potential for an overhaul of our value system and attitude to finances.

This Full Moon certainly does seem like a good opportunity to do some decluttering, detoxing, cleansing and purification in order to prune away anything that is not serving our physical, mental and spiritual health. A Pisces Full Moon can certainly make us more aware of where and how we are overwhelmed and off kilter and can help prompt us towards a more peaceful and simple existence. Nobody else has the magic wand that can miraculously make our lives better, so the onus is on us to do the inner work and make the outer adjustments  necessary to create a healthier, happier daily life so that we are better able to cope with whatever lies ahead. Pisces is a very subtle,  gentle energy that invites us to turn inward and to recognise that we have everything we need within us. “God” isn’t something or someone  outside of us, pulling the strings. It’s in inside job. Spirit is all around us and, more importantly, is within all of us. We are co-creators of our own reality and just have to stop being our own worst enemy and practice the art  of self-acceptance and surrender to the flow of the river. Can we show ourselves as much compassion as we so readily show others? How can we be kinder to ourselves, in mind, body and spirit?

Much Love

Amy
