AQUARIUS FULL MOON TAKE TWO! - Tuesday 20 August/Wednesday 21 August 2013

Exact Wednesday at 2.45am BST, Tuesday 20 August, at 9.45pm EDT!

The build-up to this Full Moon may well feel quite unsettling and rather uncomfortable as the planets involved have a tendency to shake up the status quo and force us to ask some rather uncomfortable questions! We may experience a niggling feeling that something isn’t quite right, as if we are at a dead end but don’t quite know how to move past it. The energy of this Moon may well help us blast through some blocks and the various planets involved will encourage us to purge old beliefs, letting go and embracing any unexpected twists and turns because change is coming our way whether we like it or not! Full Moons are a time of culmination when whatever we have been contending with over the course of the month comes to a head. As the Moon becomes fully it tends to bring emotional climax and release. This particular Full Moon has the potential to bring earth shattering realisations and could help us break through barriers and release ourselves from the chains that hold us back from being all that we are. I keep seeing an image of someone coming up out of a stagnant pool gasping for air. This Moon may not feel very comfortable but it will make it glaringly obvious where we are stuck and will help us break free of any self-imposed limitations and give us a fresh perspective on our lives.

This is the second Full Moon in Aquarius in the space of a month which places a high emphasis on the Aquarian humanitarian themes of freedom, equality and brotherhood. It seems appropriate considering what is going on in the world at the moment! The Moon is sitting directly opposite the Sun in playful and self- expressive Leo and we are urged to find a balance between the energy of the two signs during this Moon. Leo season has been helping us get in touch with our inner core, discovering our true essence and allowing it to shine! Leo gives us the courage to fully express our own unique nature and talents while Aquarius encourages us to share our gifts with like-minded people. Aquarius thinks outside of the box and helps us take a step backwards so that we can look at our lives from a different perspective, with fresh eyes. Aquarius is known for strokes of genius and flashes of inspiration and very much likes to do things his own way. He truly understands the essence of equality and encourages us to stand united with our fellow man for the common good, regardless of where we are from or any seeming differences between us. The symbol of Aquarius is the Water Bearer who pours water over the earth, washing away the old and making way for the new to come in. Aquarius encourages us to be true to ourselves, no matter what, and won’t abide conformity or stagnation.

Uranus and Saturn are the co-rulers of Aquarius. Uranus has the visions while Saturn grounds them in reality. Both planets are a big part of the picture during this Full Moon. Uranus, the Great Awakener, is in Aries at the moment demanding that we be true to ourselves and break free of anything which is holding us back from being all that we can be. He has a tendency to shake things up, keeping things fresh, and will not allow us to stagnate or fall into unhealthy ruts. He is part of the beginning of a Grand Square which will increase in strength until around the 26th of August, when it will peak. The other planets involved in this Grand square are Jupiter in Cancer, Pluto in Capricorn and Venus in Libra. This square is quite likely to bring any tensions to the surface in the realm of our relationships and could well challenge our beliefs and values in this area of our lives. We may experience profound shifts and changes in our attitude towards love, money and relationships, as Venus is the planet of all of these things. Things that have been bothering us for a while may well erupt during this Full Moon and we must certainly be prepared for some unexpected twists and turns in the plots of our lives! The square between Jupiter and Uranus will be exact at the time of the Full Moon and is likely to make us feel quite restless and certain aspects of our lives may feel unstable and unsettled. This aspect can certainly help us make significant changes in our lives as it creates a feeling of dissatisfaction that leaves us feeling like we need to break out, break through; as if something simply has to change. If we don’t make the changes ourselves then they will be forced on us. That is the power of Uranus – he creates external situations which are merely a reflection of our inner need for change that we have been ignoring or denying.

Saturn in Scorpio is sitting right next to the North Node of the Moon and together they are involved in a harmonious Grand Trine with Jupiter and Chiron, the Wounded Healer. This Grand Trine can help us let go of destructive beliefs, guilt and judgement and move forward on our paths with more acceptance of ourselves and others. We all carry around a certain amount of shame for our past actions which can cause us to feel an underlying guilt which is a most destructive emotion. In the same token we may, consciously or unconsciously, hold certain people to blame for our present condition, whether it be family members, friends or past lovers. This is a great time to let go of shame and blame and simply accept that all that has come before now because it has taught us a lot and shaped us into who we are today. Regret, guilt, anger and grief have no part in the present picture and we must simply accept that everyone we have met and everything we have done has been an integral part of the overall journey. The good, the bad and the ugly all have all had a purpose! The Scorpio North Node is inviting us to let go, shedding our skins and releasing any dead weight and it seems that having Saturn joining in the party could force us to be really honest about what has to go. Both Saturn and the Nodes deal with karma and seems to me that this isn't so much about letting go of the past but more about coming to terms with it. When we do we will feel much lighter and free to continue on our journey unencumbered by regret, guilt, anger or shame.

Saturn is also forming a harmonious aspect to Pluto in Capricorn during this Moon. The two planets are in mutual reception at the moment as Saturn is in Scorpio, the sign ruled by Pluto while Pluto is in Capricorn, the sign ruled by Saturn. This is mutually empowering, strengthening and amplifying the energy of the two planets and means that the issues of power (Pluto) and authority (Saturn) are likely to be the themes during this couple of years. Indeed, the power structures are very much being challenged in recent times with some help from Uranus in Aries who is not afraid to challenge the status quo! Egypt is the most recent example of this and the situation has definitely been escalating as we approach this Aquarius Full Moon. The sextile between Saturn and Pluto will prompt us to ask ourselves some difficult and uncomfortable questions and be completely and utterly honest about what we actually want. Deep down we know what we still need to deal with or let go of in order to move forward with integrity and this Moon may shine a rather bright light which will make it hard to avoid the truth. The structure of our lives have changed so much in the past couple of years and we have let go of a lot, but there is yet more to be revealed methinks!

There is certainly an unsettled feeling to this Full Moon; a sense that things aren't quite right and that something has to change. We may have a niggling feeling of being stuck that makes us feel quite unsatisfied with the status quo and this Moon will bring everything to a head, as Full Moons tend to do! Jupiter and
Uranus locked in tight battle with each other have the potential to create considerable unrest and tension which will have to be released somehow. The two of them could shake things up considerably and we should expect the unexpected as some of our stickiest cobwebs may be blasted away in no uncertain terms! Over the course of this week we may also find ourselves having some pretty intense experiences in the realms of our relationships as the Grand square grows in intensity and it is quite likely that we will experience to profound breakdowns and breakthroughs when it comes to our beliefs and values. Whatever happens during this Moon should ultimately bring a breath of fresh air into our lives and help us move over and past any real or imagined blocks or obstacles. Beforehand we may have a very strong sense of where we are stuck and what needs to change. It is often only when things become unbearable that we make changes in our lives; such is the human condition unfortunately! This Moon will help us break the shackles that bind us and find a greater freedom to be who we really are. I have a feeling that we will soon be breathing a sigh of relief!

Much love

LEO NEW MOON - Tuesday 6 August 2013

Exact at 10.51pm BST, 5.51 EDT!

This New Moon is a lively one which will give us the opportunity to approach our lives from a new perspective, stepping outside of our comfort zones and trying something new on for size. New Moons are a perfect time to set intentions for ourselves and plant seeds so that they can grow over the course of the month, coming to fruition under the light of the Full Moon. They are not emotionally charged, as Full Moons tend to be, but are more objective in nature. During this time we get a chance to review our lives and contemplate what we would like to keep, what needs changing and what must be left behind in the dark of the Moon. It is the time in the month when the Sun (our conscious self) merges with the Moon (our unconscious, instinctual nature) so we get an opportunity to understand our unconscious urges on a conscious level. This Moon has the potential for us to give birth to a new self who is closer to the original spark that we were born with. Cancer season has involved a lot of looking back into the past, revisiting our childhoods and gaining more understanding of childish behaviour patterns. Now it is time to leave the watery depths of the womb and express ourselves, allowing our true self to shine. There is no point dwelling in the past and all the emotions it brings up; we have learned what we needed and now it's time to do something about it!

The Sun and Moon are forming their monthly union in dynamic, creative and expressive Leo, a fixed Fire sign who is very passionate and active and truly lives life to the fullest. Leo is a masculine sign and tends to be a doer who is quite proud and courageous and who is not afraid to take risks. Here we find our inner child who is always open to trying new things even if he might fail first time and who is heard crying out “Look what I did Daddy!”. We must take a leaf out of Leo's book during this New Moon and find our childlike wonder and excitement, letting go of our adult fear of failure and all of our “What if?”s. Leo is ruled by the Sun and wants us to shine; to truly express who we are and reveal our special talents that are unique to us alone. Leo is the star of the show, the ray of sunshine, and urges us to allow our light to shine during this Moon. Instead of looking backwards and drowning in a sea of emotion we are now being given the opportunity to create a new version of ourselves, free of the childish emotional patterns which no longer serve us. Leo simply asks us to follow our bliss and do what brings us joy! I can handle that! This is an ideal time to contemplate what our best qualities are, what makes us truly feel alive and happy, what special gifts we have to share with the world and what new things we might want to try. Leo lives life from the heart and reminds us that we shine the brightest when we follow our heart's wisdom. When we radiate warmth and positivity we attract the same in return as people are drawn to the light like moths to a flame.

Uranus, the Awakener, is providing an electrical charge to this New Moon, creating a frisson of excitement and daring us to step outside of our comfort zones and into uncharted territory. Uranus is in Aries, demanding in no uncertain terms that we be true to ourselves and live our lives the way we want to and not the way we think we should. During this Moon he invites us to do something we have never done before, to step outside the box and express a part of ourselves we never knew existed. He gives us a fresh perspective, clearing away the cobwebs of our past and helping us to make the positive changes needed to bring us closer to who we really are. It is possible that we will have some amazing epiphanies, new ideas, sudden opportunities and spectacular breakthroughs, all of which we must make sure we are open to! It is important to embrace anything that comes our way at this time and seize any opportunity to try something different and new. Uranus abhors stagnation and urges us to shake things up so that the emotional cobwebs can fall away and our inner lights can shine honest and true!

Uranus is also part of a tense T-square with Jupiter and Pluto which is not so comfortable but will give us the impetus to make big changes in our lives so that we can move forward and grow. Jupiter expands and amplifies the energy of any planet he comes into contact with and in this case he is exaggerating the infamous Pluto Uranus square which has been urging us to make profound changes to the structure of our lives so that we can stand in our true power with integrity. This T-square could well be quite challenging, making us aware of any thoughts, beliefs or opinions that are holding us back while pushing us towards a deeper understanding of ourselves and our lives. Pluto and Jupiter will be almost directly opposite each other for this New Moon, which could bring up some pretty deep emotions, so the best thing to do is to dive into the depths consciously so that we can find the root cause of whatever is bothering us. Whatever needs to change in our lives may well become glaringly obvious and we might feel a very strong urge to make profound changes at this time. This may well involve stepping out of the familiar, tried and true way of doing things and trying something radically different. We may feel an intense build up of energy which demands to be released, forcing us to make changes in our lives in order to find some relief. Sometimes things have to break down so we can experience breakthroughs.

The Sun and Moon are also forming a square to the Nodes of the Moon, indicating that we are somehow at a crossroads on our soul's journey. There is a sense that we are stuck between that which is old and familiar and the new, uncharted territory which will help us grow and evolve on a soul level. As the North Node is in Scorpio we are being asked to determine what we need to hold onto (Taurus) and what we need to strip away and let go of (Scorpio) in order to move forward and fulfil our soul's potential. Scorpio wants us to shed some skin and it is important that we are honest about what we want to keep and what is simply holding us back, whether that be values, beliefs, possessions, relationships, living situations or jobs. This aspect to the Nodes seems to represent a turning point: a choice that must be made in order for us to move forward and fulfil our true potential. Chiron, the wounded healer, is also forming a challenging aspect to The Sun and Moon indicating that we may have to face up to some old wounds or insecurities in order to make the changes necessary to grow and evolve.

Well this Moon definitely gives the impression that we are going to be asked to be brave and try out something new that we have never done before, or to bring to light an aspect of ourselves that we have hitherto not expressed. This is not a time to be a cowardly lion, that's for sure! It doesn't have to be scary at all if we take the Leo approach and see it as a grand adventure and a chance for our inner child to have some fun! Certainly it is very important that we listen to our hearts and do what brings us the most joy because then we allow the magic to happen. Leo wants to play and create so this New Moon is a wonderful opportunity to have fun and create a new self who is actually who we have always been except stripped away of all the fears of adulthood and the armour that has built up over time. Leo season brings to light the essence of who we are, allowing it to flicker and glow, radiating a warmth and joy that enriches all who come into contact with it. It is time to approach life from a different perspective, opening ourselves to new experiences and releasing our inner child so she is free to explore any possibilities which may come her way. Let's follow our bliss and see where it might take us!

Much love
