AQUARIUS FULL MOON TAKE TWO! - Tuesday 20 August/Wednesday 21 August 2013

Exact Wednesday at 2.45am BST, Tuesday 20 August, at 9.45pm EDT!

The build-up to this Full Moon may well feel quite unsettling and rather uncomfortable as the planets involved have a tendency to shake up the status quo and force us to ask some rather uncomfortable questions! We may experience a niggling feeling that something isn’t quite right, as if we are at a dead end but don’t quite know how to move past it. The energy of this Moon may well help us blast through some blocks and the various planets involved will encourage us to purge old beliefs, letting go and embracing any unexpected twists and turns because change is coming our way whether we like it or not! Full Moons are a time of culmination when whatever we have been contending with over the course of the month comes to a head. As the Moon becomes fully it tends to bring emotional climax and release. This particular Full Moon has the potential to bring earth shattering realisations and could help us break through barriers and release ourselves from the chains that hold us back from being all that we are. I keep seeing an image of someone coming up out of a stagnant pool gasping for air. This Moon may not feel very comfortable but it will make it glaringly obvious where we are stuck and will help us break free of any self-imposed limitations and give us a fresh perspective on our lives.

This is the second Full Moon in Aquarius in the space of a month which places a high emphasis on the Aquarian humanitarian themes of freedom, equality and brotherhood. It seems appropriate considering what is going on in the world at the moment! The Moon is sitting directly opposite the Sun in playful and self- expressive Leo and we are urged to find a balance between the energy of the two signs during this Moon. Leo season has been helping us get in touch with our inner core, discovering our true essence and allowing it to shine! Leo gives us the courage to fully express our own unique nature and talents while Aquarius encourages us to share our gifts with like-minded people. Aquarius thinks outside of the box and helps us take a step backwards so that we can look at our lives from a different perspective, with fresh eyes. Aquarius is known for strokes of genius and flashes of inspiration and very much likes to do things his own way. He truly understands the essence of equality and encourages us to stand united with our fellow man for the common good, regardless of where we are from or any seeming differences between us. The symbol of Aquarius is the Water Bearer who pours water over the earth, washing away the old and making way for the new to come in. Aquarius encourages us to be true to ourselves, no matter what, and won’t abide conformity or stagnation.

Uranus and Saturn are the co-rulers of Aquarius. Uranus has the visions while Saturn grounds them in reality. Both planets are a big part of the picture during this Full Moon. Uranus, the Great Awakener, is in Aries at the moment demanding that we be true to ourselves and break free of anything which is holding us back from being all that we can be. He has a tendency to shake things up, keeping things fresh, and will not allow us to stagnate or fall into unhealthy ruts. He is part of the beginning of a Grand Square which will increase in strength until around the 26th of August, when it will peak. The other planets involved in this Grand square are Jupiter in Cancer, Pluto in Capricorn and Venus in Libra. This square is quite likely to bring any tensions to the surface in the realm of our relationships and could well challenge our beliefs and values in this area of our lives. We may experience profound shifts and changes in our attitude towards love, money and relationships, as Venus is the planet of all of these things. Things that have been bothering us for a while may well erupt during this Full Moon and we must certainly be prepared for some unexpected twists and turns in the plots of our lives! The square between Jupiter and Uranus will be exact at the time of the Full Moon and is likely to make us feel quite restless and certain aspects of our lives may feel unstable and unsettled. This aspect can certainly help us make significant changes in our lives as it creates a feeling of dissatisfaction that leaves us feeling like we need to break out, break through; as if something simply has to change. If we don’t make the changes ourselves then they will be forced on us. That is the power of Uranus – he creates external situations which are merely a reflection of our inner need for change that we have been ignoring or denying.

Saturn in Scorpio is sitting right next to the North Node of the Moon and together they are involved in a harmonious Grand Trine with Jupiter and Chiron, the Wounded Healer. This Grand Trine can help us let go of destructive beliefs, guilt and judgement and move forward on our paths with more acceptance of ourselves and others. We all carry around a certain amount of shame for our past actions which can cause us to feel an underlying guilt which is a most destructive emotion. In the same token we may, consciously or unconsciously, hold certain people to blame for our present condition, whether it be family members, friends or past lovers. This is a great time to let go of shame and blame and simply accept that all that has come before now because it has taught us a lot and shaped us into who we are today. Regret, guilt, anger and grief have no part in the present picture and we must simply accept that everyone we have met and everything we have done has been an integral part of the overall journey. The good, the bad and the ugly all have all had a purpose! The Scorpio North Node is inviting us to let go, shedding our skins and releasing any dead weight and it seems that having Saturn joining in the party could force us to be really honest about what has to go. Both Saturn and the Nodes deal with karma and seems to me that this isn't so much about letting go of the past but more about coming to terms with it. When we do we will feel much lighter and free to continue on our journey unencumbered by regret, guilt, anger or shame.

Saturn is also forming a harmonious aspect to Pluto in Capricorn during this Moon. The two planets are in mutual reception at the moment as Saturn is in Scorpio, the sign ruled by Pluto while Pluto is in Capricorn, the sign ruled by Saturn. This is mutually empowering, strengthening and amplifying the energy of the two planets and means that the issues of power (Pluto) and authority (Saturn) are likely to be the themes during this couple of years. Indeed, the power structures are very much being challenged in recent times with some help from Uranus in Aries who is not afraid to challenge the status quo! Egypt is the most recent example of this and the situation has definitely been escalating as we approach this Aquarius Full Moon. The sextile between Saturn and Pluto will prompt us to ask ourselves some difficult and uncomfortable questions and be completely and utterly honest about what we actually want. Deep down we know what we still need to deal with or let go of in order to move forward with integrity and this Moon may shine a rather bright light which will make it hard to avoid the truth. The structure of our lives have changed so much in the past couple of years and we have let go of a lot, but there is yet more to be revealed methinks!

There is certainly an unsettled feeling to this Full Moon; a sense that things aren't quite right and that something has to change. We may have a niggling feeling of being stuck that makes us feel quite unsatisfied with the status quo and this Moon will bring everything to a head, as Full Moons tend to do! Jupiter and
Uranus locked in tight battle with each other have the potential to create considerable unrest and tension which will have to be released somehow. The two of them could shake things up considerably and we should expect the unexpected as some of our stickiest cobwebs may be blasted away in no uncertain terms! Over the course of this week we may also find ourselves having some pretty intense experiences in the realms of our relationships as the Grand square grows in intensity and it is quite likely that we will experience to profound breakdowns and breakthroughs when it comes to our beliefs and values. Whatever happens during this Moon should ultimately bring a breath of fresh air into our lives and help us move over and past any real or imagined blocks or obstacles. Beforehand we may have a very strong sense of where we are stuck and what needs to change. It is often only when things become unbearable that we make changes in our lives; such is the human condition unfortunately! This Moon will help us break the shackles that bind us and find a greater freedom to be who we really are. I have a feeling that we will soon be breathing a sigh of relief!

Much love

Amy
