ARIES FULL MOON - 26 September 2026
Exact at 5.49pm UK time (BST)
This is a powerful Full Moon, in a big, brave, bold, fiery sign. It is also activating some potent planetary energy that has been very prevalent over the past few months. It is interesting that the Moon is sitting right next to Neptune, which could soften the Aries energy somewhat and make us feel more tender and open, and potentially more thin-skinned and sensitive than we might usually be. However, Neptune also brings compassion, spiritual connection, acceptance, unconditional love and feelings of unity and oneness, as it dissolves ego and helps us to connect on a deeper level. We are invited to feel all of the feelings, allowing whatever emotions rise up in us to reveal our hopes, fears and longings, illuminating the path ahead.
An Aries Moon can bring some big, strong emotions to the surface, and can highlight who we are when mirrored by others. Feelings that we may have been avoiding or suppressing could become impossible to ignore. The Libra Sun highlights our desire for peace, fairness and harmony within our relationships, while the Aries Moon highlights our need for our own autonomy, independence and the freedom to discover who we are on our own terms. The Libra part of us will turn a blind eye to keep the peace and preserve connection, while the Aries part of us is not afraid to assert our needs or bring thorny subjects out into the open. The Libra/Aries axis brings to light any imbalance between self and other, independence and partnership, self-assertion and compromise, aloneness and togetherness. “Who am I?” says Aries. “Who am I when I am with you?” says Libra.
Aries is the sign of “I am”, and so this Aries Moon could bring us some big emotions around simply being who we are. Chiron the Wounded Healer has just gone back into Aries, on 17 September, and is very prevalent during this Moon, which could force us to confront our core wounds as some powerful feelings could come rising to the surface, making them hard to avoid! Chiron was in Aries for seven or so years, from 2018/2019 until June 2026, and is now popping back into Aries until 14 April 2027 for us to complete the work that started then. Those of us with personal planets or angles around 29° of a sign, especially the cardinal signs Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn, will be feeling the energy of Chiron most acutely. Something around our healing journey is culminating, ending, completing.
The Aries wound revolves around the right to exist, the right to be here and take up space, the right to have needs and desires, and the sense that it is safe to simply be who we are. It’s big stuff, as we may have had experiences early in life whereby we felt rejected for being ourselves. On a very deep level, few may have felt like we are somehow unlovable, or too much, or not enough, so we unconsciously make ourselves small, or try too hard to prove ourselves, or suppress our needs, or hide our true nature. So often our core wounds have their roots so far back in our childhood and infancy that it is hard to understand them until they are suddenly activated, triggering our inner child and wreaking havoc in our lives and relationships.
Chiron is forming an exact square to Mars, the ruler of this Aries Full Moon. This feels very significant. Mars is in Cancer, a very sensitive sign that represents the vulnerable little child within us all that tends to feel all the feelings, and so we could find ourselves reacting emotionally if our inner child feels somehow hurt or wounded. Indeed, this combination could easily bring up some core wound/inner child material for us to look at and hopefully bring some healing to. Cancer represents our emotional attachments and our sense of emotional security and belonging, and can bring out our more protective instincts, including the need to protect ourselves. Chiron could be activating this part of us during this Moon, and we could be more reactive, defensive and easily triggered than we might usually be.
However, it could help to see it as a gift, as it points towards a part of us that still needs healing, which could be quite primal, and linked to infancy, childhood and any feelings of loss or rejection we may have experienced that made us doubt ourselves at a very core level. We may be given the opportunity to respond in a different way, rather than simply reacting. It could help to ask ourselves questions such as “Do I feel safe enough to be me?”, and “Can I be completely myself and still be loved?”, “Is it possible to assert my needs and not be rejected?”, “ What do I bring up in other people?” and “How do I abandon myself to maintain connection?”
Pluto in Aquarius is supporting the Sun and Moon, bringing the potential for soul growth, deep transformation, psychological insight and liberation from old, entrenched patterns. Pluto can help us to understand any emotions that are coming up, encouraging us to be utterly emotionally honest and to take a deep dive so that we can discover what lies at the root of whatever is coming up. Neptune may make it all a bit confusing and unclear, and can easily bring a tsunami of emotions, but Pluto can help us to get to the bottom of what it is really about. This Moon could help us to shift and liberate ourselves from some really old, deeply buried material, and at the very least could help us to understand it better and take positive action. Aries is a very brave sign that does like to be proactive!
Uranus in Gemini is also supporting this Moon, helping us to see things from another perspective, and to change old narratives, bringing new understanding of ourselves and whatever we are facing. We all have stories and beliefs about ourselves, our childhood and who we are as a result of all that has happened to us, which are buried very deep within us and are probably not helpful anymore. Maybe we believe that there is something wrong with us, or that we are inherently unlovable because of a parent leaving when we were young. Maybe we think that we are “too much” because of something our mother said to us when we were three years old. Maybe we believe that we have to be successful in order to be loved. Uranus can help us to question these stories and core beliefs, seeing them from a different angle, a bit like the hanged Man in the tarot. Uranus offers us the possibility that these stories are no longer true for us; in fact they were never true.
A conversation, something we read, a random message or piece of information all have the potential to offer us a different way of seeing ourselves and our situation, bringing crystal clear realisations, insights and epiphanies. Uranus can bring clarity and liberation, while Pluto can help us to dig deep inside so that we can transform, evolve and free ourselves from old patterns, beliefs and stories. Along with Neptune, they are on a journey together at the moment, helping us to shift and change, shedding and dissolving the old version of ourselves so that a new, updated one can emerge. Patterns and stories that have plagued us for years can be dropped now, because they have no place in where we are going.
The Sabian symbol for the Moon, at 4° Aries, is interesting, highlighting the nature of the Aries/Libra axis: “Two lovers strolling on a secluded walk.”, which Dane Rudyar describes as “The progressive polarisation of energies needed for fulfilling one’s life function. In order to respond fully to the potentialities released by a sense of identification with the greater Whole, the human being should be himself whole. An interplay of bipolar energies is needed to provide a sustained and dynamic “resonance” to any superior and encompassing form of life. This may imply a temporary withdrawal from routine activity, i.e. a “secluded” process. It is not, however, a closed process. The positive and negative polarities do not meet in a closed circuit, reconstituting a neutral state of potentiality. They operate in dynamic, open, unresolved togetherness in contact with the surrounding energies of nature. This symbol represents dynamic and unresolved POLARISATION. It introduces the basic means – one might say, the technique – to establish consciousness in the world of duality.”
This symbol seems to say that it is less about Aries “independence” versus Libra “relationship”, but rather a merging of the two signs, bringing the potential for us to retain our individual sense of autonomy while still being in relationship. This is the ideal, to simply be strolling along, not rushing, not possessing, two individuals in their own right, yet with a sense of togetherness. In a secluded space, which feels like a symbolic sanctuary, there lies the potential for healing the Chiron in Aries wound, dropping the defences and coping mechanisms, with no need to perform or to be anything other than who we are. This is the ideal of the Aries/Libra axis - to be able to be fully ourselves, a complete and whole individual, and to be loved and met by another whole individual. This Moon, with Neptune’s help, invites us to fully and completely accept who we are. No need to prove ourselves, no need to hide, or bend out of shape, or abandon ourselves to be loved. We exist. That is enough.
Much Love
Amy
