CANCER NEW MOON - 14 July 2026

Exact at 10.43am UK time (BST)

This New Moon comes in the midst of some extraordinarily powerful planetary energy, and calls for us to reflect upon what truly nourishes us and brings a sense of emotional well-being. New Moons help us to seed our wishes and intentions for the month before, and it can help to be aware of the conversations and thoughts that come up during this time, as they can give some clues as to what we are seeding. A Cancer New Moon can help us to connect to our emotions and tune in to what we truly yearn for, deep down inside. Cancer is the sign of home, family, childhood, ancestral roots and emotional security, and is the part of us that seeks to find a sense of belonging. This Moon can bring an emotional reset, and invites us to come home to ourselves and set some thoughtful, heartfelt intentions for what we truly wish for moving forward. What are we leaving behind, and what are we bringing forward? Our emotions can show us the way.

Retrograde Mercury is sitting right next to the Sun and Moon, helping us to look back and reflect and review our past so that we can gain more understanding of our present. There could be great benefit in revisiting anything that might be preventing us from stepping forward into a new way of being, as this is an ideal opportunity to release old, emotional baggage. It might help to really feel into what we want to bring with us into the next phase, and what has no part in where we are going. Mercury can help us to consciously understand our emotional patterns, which could be very helpful indeed, as this is such a powerful time for seeing and releasing old patterns that are no longer helpful.  Conversations that we have during this time could be emotionally resonant, revealing and helpful. Sometimes we have to look back and revisit something in order to move forward. This could be an ideal time to let the old stories go, with love. The past no longer has to define us as we enter this new phase.

Pallas Athena and Vesta are both in Aries, and are forming a dynamic square aspect to the Sun and Moon. Vesta represents our sacred inner flame and brings a deep devotion to our path. She teaches us the importance of commitment, focus, and honouring what gives our life meaning by tending to it with care, devotion and dedication. In Aries, she encourages us to  honour our inner flame by taking the initiative, trusting  and honouring ourselves and having the courage to commit to what truly matters to us. Pallas Athena represents wisdom, strategy, and gives us the ability to recognise patterns and solve problems creatively. She combines intuition with intelligence, helping us to respond to life's challenges with clarity, courage, and skill. In Aries she encourages us to trust our gut, think independently, and act decisively rather than waiting for the perfect plan.

These two are big players in this Moon, and it feels relevant and important that they are involved. We are called to honour ourselves and recognise our mission here on earth, and to be prepared to develop a plan and  to act quickly, courageously and independently. The Cancer part of us may prefer to feel emotionally safe and may be grappling with our emotional attachments and a nostalgia for the past, while this Aries energy seems to be calling for courage, initiative, decisive action and putting ourselves first. Vesta does call for us to recognise what we are here on earth for and to honour our own path, so this could be part of the consideration during this New Moon.

We also have Jupiter in Leo, Uranus in Gemini, Neptune in Aries and Pluto in Aquarius all joining up in a powerful and beautiful planetary alignment, which provides a very important backdrop for this New Moon. This energy is growing through July and will peak towards the middle to the end of July. As such, this Moon is very important. While the Moon calls for us to connect to our emotional truth and leave the past behind, these other planets bring the potential for collective awakening, profound transformation and the sense that we are starting to actually embody a new way of being and living. This truly is a very exciting moment in our history! While Cancer calls for us to step into the past, recognising what has shaped us and what is no longer who we are, this alignment of planets are helping us to release the old version of ourselves and step into an entirely new way of being.

Pluto, the planet of soul growth and transformation and Uranus, the planet of change, revolution and awakening, are forming a harmonious trine to one another, at 4°, which can help us to gain clarity and insight into the deeper patterns and compulsions that have defined us and sabotaged our lives and relationships for so very long. Once we are able to see them with such clarity we then have the potential to choose to do things differently. This truly can be life-changing, and could feel so simple that our minds are blown! This combination can bring such a huge shift in consciousness, rewarding us for any work we have done on ourselves over the years. On another level, this combination can bring revolution and breakdowns that lead to breakthroughs, liberating us from the old paradigm and the outworn, antiquated structures that have no place in this new world that is forming.

What an exciting time to be alive! This is a process that will continue until 2028, as these two will trine each other a few times over the coming year or so, but not in the same way as now, with all of these other planets so perfectly aligned. The trine will be exact on 18 July. Uranus in Gemini is helping to shift our perspective and open up an entirely new way of looking at things, opening up new neural pathways that can completely change how we operate. Pluto in Aquarius is liberating us from our conditioning and opening us up to the possibility of an entirely new way of operating, free from the patriarchal construct that is crumbling before our very eyes.

Neptune, the planet of spiritual connection, dreams, oneness and unity, is sitting in the middle of Uranus and Pluto, forming a helpful sextile to both, and also forming a beautiful trine aspect to Jupiter in Leo. Neptune is in Aries, and so we are invited to allow the old version of ourselves to dissolve and dream and imagine a new one into being. Neptune is in Aries, calling for us to have the courage and initiative to bring our dreams and ideals into reality, acting from a place of hope, faith and trust. Neptune can imagine, while Aries can act upon it!

Neptune in Aries brings inspired action and spiritual courage, and greatly softens and “spiritualises” the energy of the Uranus Pluto trine. Neptune reminds us that we are all connected, and brings the sense of a collective, spiritual awakening. The Neptune Jupiter trine, which is exact on 24/25 July, can bring a feeling of renewed hope and faith, which feels so welcome in these times of upheaval. These two planets are in fire signs, which brings enthusiasm, inspiration, passion, courage, creativity and dynamic energy to the picture. Jupiter brings expansion, faith, growth and confidence, and in Leo we are encouraged to follow our hearts and passions, and to not be afraid to create the life we truly want for ourselves.

What a time to be alive! This is not to say this this will necessarily be easy for everyone, and doesn’t mean that these aren’t also challenging times, but it does call for us to focus on what is good in the world and to shift our perspective somehow, keeping ourselves open to new possibilities, connections and a new way of being in the world that is based on love, freedom, community and kindness to our fellow beings and the world around us. If we focus less on what is dark or broken and more on what we want to create, it could be amazing to see what could open up. Those of us with more personal planets and angles in the air signs and fire signs may find this planetary alignments easier and more fluid than those with more personal planets and angles in the water and earth signs.

Interestingly, Venus is also sitting at 5°  Virgo during this Moon, so the planet of love, beauty, self-worth and values is very much being activated during this Moon. In fact, she is the focal point of a Yod, or Finger of God, with both Pluto and Neptune “poking” at her.  Venus in Virgo is quite modest and shows love through small acts of service. She reminds us to be humble, although she can also be somewhat self-critical and perfectionistic. However, she is capable of pure, profound, devoted acts of service to the whole.

Uranus is square Venus, bringing the potential for shifts in perspective around how we approach relationships. It can bring unexpected changes in relationships, and calls for us to relate from a more authentic place that is true to who we really are, rather than how we may have approached relationships in the past. As we shift into a new way of being, so are we called to approach our relationships differently, giving them more room to breathe. This energy peaks on 13 July, but is still strong during this Moon.

In the meantime, Neptune inconjunct Venus can make us more aware of the fine line between loving unconditionally and self-sacrifice within relationship. We may be called to recognise where we have the rose-tinted spectacles on and are maybe being too idealistic, or are projecting our ideals onto a relationship. It does highlight our capacity for a higher kind of love and loving others unconditionally, while calling for us to practice the art of  discernment and healthy boundaries. This energy peaks on 13 July, but is still strong during this Moon.

Pluto inconjunct Venus could expose and transform any unhealthy patterns or unhelpful power dynamics within our relationships and our capacity to love. This energy also peaks on 13 July, but is still strong during this Moon. Venus is under pressure, as the apex of this Yod, as we are called to recognise where we may have given our power away in order or sacrificed ourselves in order to be loved. Pluto in Aquarius is calling for us to be utterly authentic and to relate from a place of radical truth and transparency, even if it is hard, exposing and vulnerable making. We are being called to truly recognise our worth, and honour ourselves while also stepping into a higher vibration of love. As we are stepping into a new way of being, so our relationships with others will shift, adapt and transform.

And last but not least, we are in the final days of the Nodes of the Moon in Virgo and Pisces, as they get ready to move into the Leo/Aquarius axis on 27 July. This feels like an important part of this Moon, as the North Node of the Moon has been in Pisces for 18 months, and can bring a collective shift of energy as it moves over to another sign. With the Moon and retrograde Mercury in nostalgic Cancer, perhaps the North Node is inviting us to make peace with the past and reconnect with what truly matters to us before we can move forward into the future that Aquarius can bring in.

What old stories and attachments need to be released and how might we still need to fully surrender before we are ready to move forward and embrace this new way of being? The Pisces North Node invites us to let go of the need for certainty and allow whatever is unfolding to simply be, rather than trying to force outcomes. It is time to simply let go and trust.

The Sabian symbol for this Moon, at 22° Cancer, is a poignant one, as it does feel like many of us are experiencing a sense that something is coming, but not yet knowing what it is: “A young woman awaiting a sailboat” which Dane Rudyar describes as “The longing for transcendent happiness in the soul opened to great dreams. Here the symbol pictures the imaginative youthful person who basically cannot be satisfied with what his or her ordinary social environment offers, and who instead is longing for the unknown visitation of which he or she has dreamed. From the unconscious beyond, the concretisation of a spiritual image – spiritual because impelled by the “wind” (pneuma, spirit) – is hoped for and expected. The Beloved may come – not in a glittering opera house, but in the silence of the inner sea of consciousness. Will the great dream become concrete? Will the emotion ready to well up in response to the Advent have its chance? Will the EXPECTANCY of Eternal Feminine be rewarded with reality?”

This symbol brings a sense of hope, trust and quiet expectancy. What this New Moon and the surrounding planetary energy will bring is as yet unknown, and it may not be what we have imagined, but we are called to trust that whatever does come will be right for us. The young woman is waiting with trust and confidence that what is meant for her is making its way towards her. This is a reminder for us to be receptive and open to any opportunities that come our way, and to trust that something that has already been set in motion will arrive when the time is right. We have done all we can, and now we are called to simply let go, have faith, and trust. While the future may seem uncertain, whatever is meant for us will not pass us by. We are on the verge of a new chapter, and Eclipse season is on the way, and this Moon feels like it is somehow the bridge between the past and the future that awaits us. We are called to tune into our true emotions, honour the past and allow the future to unfold as it will.

Much Love

Amy
