SCORPIO NEW MOON - 9 November 2026

Exact at 7.02am UK time (GMT)

This is a powerfully introspective new Moon that could help us to be emotionally honest enough to recognise and own the parts of ourselves that we might have hitherto found it hard to see. Not only are the Sun and Moon in Scorpio, but we also have retrograde Mercury in this intense, probing, perceptive, powerful sign, helping  us to look back and recognise how things that happened in the past are still influencing our present day behaviour and relationships. This Moon can help us to revisit any emotional issues that remain unresolved, recognising the psychological patterns that keep repeating over and over again, sabotaging our life and relationships. This is the kind of Moon that can bring clarity around issues that have haunted us for so very long, helping us to make sense of it all so that we can hopefully do something about it. It is time.

A Scorpio New Moon can highlight the themes of trust, intimacy, power dynamics and emotional exposure and vulnerability. The Scorpio part of us longs to be truly “seen” by another human being, and yet we often have so many walls and layers of protection that prevent us from truly allowing others in. To truly put our trust in another human being, allowing them to see all of us, warts and all, can bring up profound fear of loss, fear of rejection, fear of exposure, fear of betrayal. We all have our own unique set of psychological complexes that stem from our childhood experience as well as any trauma we have experienced in adulthood that has deeply affected us, creating patterns of protection that may or may not be serving us in the here and now.

This is the kind of Moon that can help us to recognise these patterns, bringing profound insight and understanding and helping us to make the link between the past and the present day. The energy is ripe for us to actually liberate ourselves from the chains that have bound us for so long. It can help the “unseen” and disowned parts of us be seen, understood and purged. It can help us to be utterly honest with ourselves, facing the bare, raw truth, no matter how uncomfortable it may be. It can help us to confront the deep seated fears that are holding us prisoner, creating the behaviours and patterns that ultimately make us miserable and keep us from having happy, healthy relationships.

With Mercury Retrograde in Scorpio, the past could come rising up to meet us, bringing back memories, relationships, people from our past, or simply helping us to connect the dots more easily through penetrating conversations and truthful dialogue. Pluto, the ruler of this Scorpio Moon, is forming a dynamic square aspect to Mercury, helping us to penetrate to the heart of the matter, liberating us from the beliefs, assumptions and unconscious thought patterns that have had such an impact on our lives and relationships. Combined with Uranus in Gemini, it can help us to become more aware of the stories and narratives that we have believed for so long and are ready to be released. It can help us to understand what we are carrying from the past so that we can move into the future.

Uranus and Pluto are building up to their second trine with one another that will peak on 29 November, and as they both connect with Retrograde Mercury we could find that information and insight that has hitherto been hidden from us could come bubbling up into our conscious awareness so that we can make sense of it. The narratives and thought patterns that have provided a sense of safety for so long may need to be challenged if they are no longer healthy or helpful for us. We could have profound revelations, deep insights and greater understanding of some incredibly deep seated patterns and complexes that have been dominating our lives for so very long. However, once they rise up into our conscious awareness they lose their power!  After that it is up to us what we do with it.

Jupiter and Mars are conjoining the South Node in Leo during this Moon, exact later in the week, but it feels like they are an important part of the story during this Moon, as they could amplify the shadow side of Leo. Mars in Leo is also loosely squaring the Scorpio Sun and Moon, which could mean that we react quite strongly if someone or something touches a sore spot, points out a flaw or wounds our pride somehow. The Leo part of us can sometimes find it hard to accept criticism, and even if it is meant kindly it can hurt us and bruise our ego. We might need to recognise any need to be validated, admired, appreciated, or seen as special, or to be the centre of someone’s universe that has become unhealthy or out of balance.

The North Node in Aquarius reminds us that we may all have a “unique selling point” that makes us special, but so does everyone else! Leo represents the autocracy, the king or queen, while Aquarius represents “Power to the People”, calling for us to share our special gifts with the wider community. Aquarius also reminds us that the world doesn’t revolve around us, and other people may be having their own struggles too, which might actually have nothing to do with us. This can help us not to take things too personally, as Aquarius encourages us to develop some objectivity and detachment. It also invites us to show the world who we really are, rather than who we think we “should” be.

Luckily, retrograde Venus in Libra is forming harmonious aspects to Mars, Jupiter and the Nodes, helping us to look back and recognise how our patterns of relating might have been out of balance. We have a chance to make a shift forward in our soul growth during this Moon, and it can help to reflect on the history of our relationships and how much we might mask and compromise in order to maintain connection with others. We may have a chance to look back and be completely honest about ourselves about any unhealthy dynamics or attachments that have been operating in our relationships, owning the part we have played.

Scorpio is helping us to face what we may have previously avoided or suppressed because it was too hard to fully see or admit to, while retrograde Venus in Libra helps us to see how we might have hidden the raw truth and reality of who we are, only showing the parts of us that we deem “pretty” or acceptable. It can help us to recognise any relationship patterns that stem from a fear of being truly seen, warts and all. The Leo part of us wants to be admired, while the Libra part of us is adept at people pleasing and being what we think people want us to be. This Scorpio New Moon, however, encourages us to own those parts of us that we think are ugly, or dark, or messy, or rotten. We all have them, after all!

Venus’s connection to the Nodes during this Moon can help us to look back at the past in order to move forward and be truly ourselves in our relationships, letting go of any need for external validation. We are being called forward into a new way of being, a new way of relating, and we don’t have a guidebook to show us the way! What this Moon does seem to offer, however, is a chance to see, very clearly, some deeply uncomfortable material that we really need to face and properly own so that we can transform it and shed the old patterns of relating that have no place where we are going.

The Sabian Symbol for this Moon, at 17° Scorpio, is so powerful: ” A woman, fecundated by her own spirit, is “great with child.”, which Dane Rudyar describes as: “A total reliance upon the dictates of the God-within. In contrast to the outgoing smile of the girl in the preceding symbol, here we see the result of a deep and complete concentration reaching to the innermost centre of the personality where the Living God acts as a fecundating power. This reveals the potency of the inward way, the surrender of the ego to a transcendent Force which can create through the person vivid manifestations of the Will of God. This symbol brings to us the realisation of normally hidden potentialities in the average human being of our day. Faith in the Divine is shown here being concretely justified. The human person becomes a “mother of the Living God.”  This is THE TRANSPERSONAL WAY of existence. It is the way that leads to creative mutations.”

This symbol reminds us that what we seek is ultimately all within us. There is something developing deep inside us right now, something that is not quite ready to come out yet, and this may be a new understanding of ourselves, a deeper relationship with the truth of ourselves, a new identity that is closer to our core truth. Might this symbol suggest that we may have been looking outside of ourselves for something that is already within us? This could help us to approach our relationships differently, not that we don’t still need love and connection, but simply that we no longer need the “other” to provide us with something that we believe we don’t have. Maybe we are being called to discover and cultivate within us the very thing we have been seeking from outside of us.

It certainly does seem as if we are still in some kind of gestation period, with all of these retrogrades, and the woman in the symbol is still “great with child” – she hasn’t actually given birth yet. It feels incredibly powerful and exciting, however, as we seem to be in the process of giving birth to a new version of ourselves! First we will need to release the old version of ourselves, however, and this will involve some wholehearted soul searching and the willingness to be utterly honest with ourselves as we allow ourselves to see what has been hiding in plain sight all along.

Much love

Amy
