AQUARIUS FULL MOON - 29 July 2026
This Full Moon occurs two days after the Nodes of the Moon have moved from Virgo and Pisces into Leo and Aquarius, on 26/27 July, where they will remain for the next 18 months. This can bring a significant personal and collective shift of energy. The last time the Nodes were in Leo and Aquarius was from December 2007 until August 2009, so it could help to look back to what happened during that time. The Nodes of the Moon represent our soul growth and evolution, and the Aquarius North Node is calling us forward towards community with like minded people and encourages us to use our gifts and talents to help contribute to making the world a better place to live and creating this new world that is forming. It is so interesting and profound that we have an Aquarius Full Moon only two days after the Nodes shift signs, as it brings the themes of the next 18 months into sharp focus, giving us a glimpse of what is to come.
We are now in Leo season, with the Sun in this creative, expressive, generous and enthusiastic Leo, sitting directly opposite the Moon in progressive, rebellious, eccentric, humanitarian Aquarius. While Leo is the part of us that likes to shine and be seen and appreciated, fully participating in life, Aquarius reminds us that each and every one of us are special and unique in our own way, and encourages us to join together and share our gifts so that we can contribute something to the collective. Leo is a very creative sign, while Aquarius is the visionary, and together they can help to create this New World that is currently forming as the old order crumbles before our eyes. Leo represents sovereign leadership, while the Aquarius North Node is leading us towards community, progressive reform and visions for a future based on freedom and equality.
It will be interesting to see what happens in the next 18 months, with the Nodes in Leo and Aquarius, especially as we also have Pluto in Aquarius, putting a lot of emphasis on this visionary, progressive, egalitarian, revolutionary, community-minded sign. We are called to let go of the more unhealthy qualities of Leo, such as needing validation, identification with ego, personal pride, feeling like the world revolves around us and that our worth is based on being special. We are encouraged, however, to take the positive, healthy Leo qualities forward to meet the Aquarius North node, such as following our joy, living courageously from the heart, being warm, expressive and generous spirited and sharing our creativity and gifts. The key, however, is to offer these gifts in service of something bigger than us, beyond our own personal gratification.
The Aquarius North Node is calling us forward towards a new way of being, and could involve a big rethink around leadership and authority. Aquarius believes in “Power to the People”, instead of the pyramid structure that we have lived under for so long. Aquarius encourages us to find our tribe, connecting with like-minded people to create a shared vision of how life can be. Aquarius is all about community and can bring change, revolution, progression and innovation. “All for one and one for all!” could be a good motto for Aquarius. Technology also comes under Aquarius’s remit, so it will be interesting to see the part it plays in our lives in the coming months and years, for both good and ill.
Leo also represents romantic love, while Aquarius may call for us to approach our relationships in a different way than we may have done in the past, allowing more freedom, openness and a more untraditional and non-possessive approach to our relationships. While Leo is the part of us that like to feel “chosen”, and the centre of someone’s universe, Aquarius values friendship and is capable of free love and non-attachment, so maybe, over the next 18 months, we have an opportunity to experiment with new ways of being in relationship, not based on fear of loss, being alone, rejection, or abandonment, rather a more a “live and let live” way of being in relationship.
Can we love one another without trying to possess or change each other? Can we encourage each other to honour our own paths, purpose and journeys without seeing it as a threat? Can we find out own way of defining commitment that is our own version, rather than the way society has traditionally shown us? Can we show up for each other in a truly conscious, utterly authentic way, rather than through habit or obligation? Are we able to be utterly authentic and true to ourselves while also honouring the relationship? This could be an opportunity to throw off the shackles of our conditioning around relationships, which could take some navigating, as there is no “rule book” to guide us along. Aquarius invites us to be together because we choose to, not through any sense of obligation or from codependency. Can we allow love to simply exist without controlling the form or outcome of the relationship?
In its highest expression, the Leo Aquarius axis isn't about choosing between passion and freedom, rather it is about integrating them. Leo brings warmth, generosity, playfulness and wholehearted love. Aquarius brings honesty, equality, spaciousness and respect for individuality. Together they describe a relationship in which two whole people choose to walk side by side, connected by love, yet free to become the fullest expression of who they each are. It brings a sense that a loving relationship can include a deep commitment to one another's growth and respect for each person's autonomy.
Pluto is sitting right next to the Moon in Aquarius, which could bring some rather intense emotions to the surface, making them impossible to ignore. Pluto demands emotional honesty and reveals anything that might be hidden beneath the surface or lurking in the shadows. It exposes our tender underbelly, revealing whatever is hidden, unowned and shameful. In Aquarius we are called to be absolutely true to ourselves and utterly authentic, liberating ourselves from the layers of conditioning that has been piled on us since birth and revealing the unique spark that is our true self. Whatever comes up during this Moon could reveal the heart of the matter and could feel quite exposing, but it could also feel incredibly liberating. Pluto is the planet of soul evolution and transformations, so this feels like a very significant Moon indeed.
Meanwhile, expansive, growth oriented Jupiter is sitting in exactly the same degree as the Sun in Leo, magnifying the warm, generous-spirited, courageous, playful, whole-hearted expressiveness of the Leo Sun. We are invited to shine our light fully and share our gifts with the world, while not going overboard with any need for external validation to prove our worth or over identification with our own ego and personal will. With Jupiter and Pluto sitting opposite each other for this Moon, we are encouraged to allow a big part of our small, conditioned self to fall away so that we can step into the fullness of who we really, truly are, radiating our light in the spirit of service to the whole.
Uranus in Gemini and Neptune in Aries are also supporting this Moon, making it feel like a gateway moment as we move into a new era – a new way of being and living, a new world, a new reality. Uranus brings the potential for seeing things from a completely fresh perspective, rewiring our neural pathways and changing the way we see, think and operate. Uranus is the ruler of Aquarius, and can bring sudden opportunities, realisations and conversations that change everything, helping to liberate us from our old mindset, bringing moments of profound clarity and breakthroughs that can wake us up and jolt us out of our habitual way of looking at life. Uranus in Gemini invites us to be curious, adaptable and open to new ways of living, being and relating.
Meanwhile, Neptune in Aries is helping us to not only dream a new way of being, but to actually put it into action. We have the potential for amazing synchronicities, chance meetings, spiritual insights, moments of awakening and magical serendipity when Neptune is part of the picture! Neptune in Aries brings inspired action, the capacity for pioneering our ideals, and invites us to truly trust that we are guided and will know the right time to act. The Cancer New Moon brought a feeling that we know that change is coming, which is exciting, but that we are not entirely sure what it actually looks like yet. We are now approaching Eclipse season, which heralds a new chapter, and Neptune encourages us to trust in divine timing, while reminding us to be ready to courageously spring into action when the time is right and the opportunity shows itself.
The Sabian symbol for this Full Moon, at 7°, is utterly profound and so resonant with the current planetary energy: ” A child is seen being born out of an egg”, which Dane Rudyar describes as “The emergence of new mutations according to the great rhythms of the cosmos. The ancient symbolism of the Cosmic Egg (Hiranyagharba in Sanskrit) out of which a new universe is born can be interpreted at several levels. Here we see the appearance of a new type of human being who is not born from “Ancestors” and who therefore is free from the inertia of mankind’s past. He is a new product of evolution, a mutant. He constitutes a fresh projection of the creative Spirit that emanates from the cosmic or planetary Whole, and not from any local culture and racial tradition. This symbol can be said to announce the EMERGENCE OF GLOBAL MAN for the New Age. The power of the whole is focused within him in perfect freedom from ancient standards of value based on local conditions.”
Wow, what a fitting symbol! There is something very innocent about a child emerging from an egg, as if we are being asked to approach life and relationships with fresh new eyes and a beginners mind, which is very much in keeping with the Uranus in Gemini energy. It feels as if a new consciousness is being born that has been incubating within the egg, which is now cracking open, when the time is right. Pluto conjunct the Moon could be seen to represent the egg cracking open, symbolising the transformation, which can feel scary, uncomfortable and liberating all at once. The Sun conjunct Jupiter in Leo brings a sense of optimism, hope and the joy around what might be possible. Uranus and Neptune bring the awakening of mind and spirit, pioneering spirit, courage, and fresh new perspective.
There is a sense that this is all fresh and new, this new world that is forming, and the future is unlike anything we have experienced before, so we can’t approach it the way we would have done in the past. As such, it is important to be patient and tread carefully, as the “child”, or new consciousness is vulnerable, tender and innocent and needs some gentle nurturing as it emerges from its shell and looks around at the new vista.
